Corporate COntroller Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Good Manufacturing system that won't bankrupt you" August 16, 2018 4.0 MIXED.there are a few really good people in support Pros Good value for the money Good little manufacturing system They put on really nice annual conferences Cons Epicor grew by acquisition so some of the interfaces are cloodgey (I think they are working o improving this with their cloud based systems). General maintenance in Mexico is very good, the US arm needs to help them more instead of tossing hard problems over the border without proper training. System is not user friendly, based on HUNDREDS of tables!!! US customer support is very good if you get the right people. Customer support for real issues (forex) is a cash sink hole - any time you have a bug or a real problem, they refer you to a consultant at per hour basis. Worse, they do not have many consultants who really know the product so you waste thousands of dollars getting them up to speed, only to end up with the problem not fixed. We have since learned some of these issues were fixed but only in the new version which costs us to upgrade. Review Source DB Daniel B. Cons We are a job shop, non-stock parts with many only being built once. Excel Connect, as reporting tool, works well but lacks proper security capabilities. Pros Very configurable software which is both good and bad. Software has a lot of capability to flex to our needs. Cons Support and training for implementation was very poor, we kicked out 3 different consultants before we found one that could understand our needs and work with us. The initial assessment program by Epicor was a waste of time and money. The program management at Epicor also did not add much for the cost. Review Source NA Nicole A. I enjoyed the easy click through menu options and ability to customize the forms to our liking. We have a unique business that would not fit an out of the box capability. Cons Reporting is not easy in this system. Almost everything has to be customizable and it created many years worth of problems trying to build this system without a strong support team. We have been trying for over a year to get our rep to give us pricing on licenses as we have grown and would like to expand in this area. We cannot get responses from the website support, our rep, or anything. Once you become a customer, you are abandoned, and left with very little support. this was not ideal as we developed how we wanted to use an ERP system and what the system could really do. We have spent 100s of thousands with other consulting companies to try to build the system, all while paying for the support and maintenance without any support. Review Source SH Steven H. Cons Generated reports do not search the entire report unless starting again from page one. What this means is if the user finds the item searched for on page 520 the next search will start from page 520 unless the search box is closed and page one is clicked on to start the search. NOT GOOD AT ALL" March 6, 2018 3.0 its a cloud base database and we don't need to back up the data. Also all the info we need is on one location! Cons NOT user-friendly, the turnaround on tickets is horrible. There is no videos or forums where customers can go and see how other Epicor users are fixing there/workaround problems they are facing. I was referring to one but apparently its all money. I wish there was a better training on how to admin the software. The biggest pro is it has a really good BOM system for manufacturing - this is usually missed in ERPs Cons it is expensive, and there is so much customization you can do so it becomes difficult to use. I have also worked with a system that Epicor bought, the product support on that was not very good because they were phasing the system out. October 8, 2019 5.0 We rely heavily on a product configurator and Epicor had the best configurator we seen on the market. Epicor has continued to improve their product, adding new features, making it available while mobile. The third party software plug-ins are great and add many time saving functions that are easy to use. Pros Like the fact that it had the features we needed, was easy to use, and see continued effort by Epicor to improve it by adding new abilities and features to it. We get great support and training is available in many different forms. Cons Cost was a little higher than what we initially were thinking of in our budget. However, after looking a many ERP systems we quickly found that Epicor had what we wanted and felt that it was worth the investment. It has been 10 years now, and still believe we made the right decision to go with Epicor as our ERP system. Review Source TD Tony D. Cons cloud based makes it a little slower than server based. cannot email orders direct from Epicor. cannot handle VIN numbers. inability to print invoices until after the order is closed. cannot modify orders after the order is marked shipped. in our old system we could modify until the month was closed. we write many more credits than before. Good ability to customise screens and part configurator to aid our productivity improvement. Version 10 seems to have even more features. Cons We are currently still on V8.03. Scheduling module is the weakest of all module. Since Epicor took over from Cogita sales service is close to none existence, level of support is poor but maintenance cost is high. Pros if user use and enter info into system correctly, could be good data center for sales, financial forecasting and inventory control analytics. Cons not user friendly , not easy to integration with other application , especially if you are under multi-tenant SAAS, Took long time for the support and need extra resource to get the integration done for over 2 years . Dashboards and BAQ's are easy to make, a lot of training guides to take you through it. BPM is a great tool to use to automate user entry. Cons A lot of functionality/custom is locked from MT customers, due to their DB setup. Going on-prem or dedicated hosted is a better option, if you are looking for a lot of custom changes. Pros The capability and functionality of the system is incredible and effortless once your are trained and have the knowledge on how to operate. Cons Not necessarily a con with the system itself but if your current systems mode of operating doesn't easily transition with the way Epicor works it can create a few obstacles in how the functionality of Epicor can work for your company. Procurement Manager Industrial Automation Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Implementing Epicor " October 13, 2016 2.0 First, our company didn't have a ERP software and use Quickbooks for P.O.'s and supplier payment and Excel to create a demand plan. Second the company was a true start up and hadn't released any products to production. So the Erp tool wasn't replacing an existing software. Overall I found the majority of the implementation very restrictive to customize to our wants. Pros The purchase order placement was reasonable but really are Finance got more out of it than procurement. Cons No easy method to automate revision those had to be manually added to P.O's and constant error message when doing so. With Quickbook you just had to click on vendor to get all P.O. history with Epicor multiple screens and buyer specific. For components purchased per manufacturers part number it didn't upload those so they have to be manually added. Creating jobs even when we hired a more experienced planning manager it takes way more resources to create them seemed we spent 100's of hours just to get simple jobs created at sub-assembly levels. While we were able imput receiving parts to stock deleting it after consumptions is consistently manual reduction to update the balance. The ability to make things unique to your own is a great feature. It's great for tracking inventory too. Cons There is always a problem with any update that happens. I do not like the ticket process because it takes forever to get a response and most times the problem could be solved in a few minutes instead of being dragged out for a few weeks. Pros The ease to customize multiple areas and still be able to update the software without losing everything you customized already! Cons When you update the server, the client also use be updated. If the user doesn't have admin rights on the pc, this could be a problem. There are things I love about Netsuite as well but overall I prefer Epicor. Cons When I was using Epicor I had issues with their consulting because they were located in Australia so it would take an entire day to get a response back. This product scales well with best practices built in that will allow you to grow without adding people and overhead. Pros Easy to use. Very deep in functionality - you will likely be able to use the whole system out of the box. I feel it gets the job done but if it was up to me I would choose a less glitchy program Pros Using this software to do inventory was pretty straight forward and mistakes can easily be undone if needed Cons There is a lot of glitching and crashing with this software. A lot more work with very little better results, I see no great improvement at all. I feel that you changed thing to benefit a few user but not the majority of us Cons Not as easy to use as 8 was a lot more labor intensive Can't change a conversion factor if it was entered incorrectly. You could in 8 Less bang for the buck in my opinion. I am very impressed with their support staff every time I have an issue. They are quick and very informing. I use this for reports and accounting purposes and it keeps our company running smoothly. We added some enhancements to the system and they merged great. Overall, I would recommend this software for all types of businesses.
