I love how easy it is to get started with setting up monitoring for my cron jobs. The web interface is clean and functional. Cons I don't have anything in the cons column for this service. It just works, and I don’t think too hard about it, which is exactly what I wanted. Pros Healthchecks does exactly what it says it will do, and does it simply and reliably. You can interact with it through the webUI, or through a simple API, and the flexible way of sending status updates through http means nearly any service, device or script can be monitored. Cons The tool could be too simple for some complex use cases. There aren’t escalation tools, you can’t assign issues to a user, and it doesn’t integrate performance metrics like Prometheus - services are just up or down. Alerts are also easy to set up and highly flexible, with many integrations available. I'm on the free tier, and it has everything I need! I also love that it's open source and you can self-host the platform. Cons To be honest I can't find anything wrong with Healthchecks.io. It's just an all-round rock solid service. I just hope it's sustainable for the company to keep their free tier this generous. It is a must-have in any cronjob script, to ensure that it actually run successfully. The feature to directly report an explicit error situation, simply with an HTTP GET request makes incident investigation much easier. A life saver tool! January 1, 2023 5.0 I use it to track nightly backups, restores, raid operations and some cron jobs to ensure healthy operations of my server farm. Pros I like the intuitive interface and clear documentation. It helped me get things configured quickly and from that point on it was “set and forget”, which is another thing I like a lot. I have only had to log in once after I had configured everything but that was due to an error on my part. Cons Currently I have nothing negative to remark. I also don’t think a feature is lacking. Reason for choosing Healthchecks.io If I would use webhooks I would need to find a provider, consider all the possibilities of what they would allow with webhooks and then do all the work of setting up alerting in case something failed which would have been a bigger hassle compared to using Healthchecks.io. In the roughly 12 months I have been using it, it has been 100% reliable and has always delivered alerts on time. The monthly summaries are particularly helpful to see whether any services have been particularly noisy. Cons Literally nothing that I don't like about it. The service means I don't have to worry about if a critical cron task fails silently, as it will notify me of the issue. it will also notify me of complete server downtime before I get a chance to check in myself Pros I love how easy it is to set up a watched cron task using healthchecks.io. The email alerts for downtime mean I can set and forget them, and not have to constantly check a dashboard to see if there are any issues Cons The only feature that I would like to see implemented is a mobile app for quicker alerts on downtime Review Source DG Dick G. Cons lost access to few Alerts, alert integrated with Pager duty, but no way to delete or reconfigure the alerts. Not sure what is the email/password it was registered with. Cons Actually there is nothing to say here, just a little bit of confuse to get the monitoring to work properly with timezone settings on the devices, but this is a very minor one once realized how it works.
