May 8, 2026 5.0 I am satisfied with it as it helped me to speed up my development process, the components are easy to use, just drag and drop and some tweaks on the properties window and you are ready to go. Pros I have been using other components to connect to MySQL server from Delphi, ex: ODBC, I then read a lot about MySQL Data Access Component and decided to give it a try, so I used the trail version for a while and I found the components very useful and practical, and they provide direct connection to the MySQL server. There is a significant improve on data retrieval especially when enabling smartFetch, so I contacted sales customer support and they offered me a good discount to buy the professional version and helped me through the process, it was a good choice as it support mobile applications too. The setup is very easy, just next next and the setup will do everything for you. Cons I had to read through a lot of documentation to get a good grasp regarding the master details connection, especially when the details table contain a lot of records. I don't experience any problems during the software or application's operation. It's also a very accessible component. Other components I used previously caused problems. Pros It's very easy to install, I've been using it for 15 years and it has never broken down. I'm immediately notified of updates, and the setup is very easy. Cons There wasn't a single data access component I particularly liked. I'm writing this because I have to write something; here's the price of the product. It’s fast, lightweight, and avoids the overhead of ODBC or ADO. The components integrate smoothly with RAD Studio, and working with datasets and transactions feels very natural. In combination with SecureBridge, I’ve also used MyDAC to connect over SSL, which was straightforward to set up and worked flawlessly. The stability in production and the performance benefits are excellent, and the documentation makes it easy to get started. Overall, MyDAC saves a lot of development time and is definitely worth the money if you’re building professional Delphi applications with MySQL.
