These components are great, very intuitive and easy to use everyday. Pros Very easy to install and use in Delphi development. Cons Can't find any cons at this time, it's simply the best DAC. Could use a few more example apps for certain components. Pros Works very well when you need connectors for multiple databases without having to buy from multiple companies. Developer Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Comprehensive data access layer for Pascal languages" April 26, 2022 5.0 UniDAC has consistently allowed us to integrate with light and heavy-duty database engines (from SQLite to MongoDB with most of our usage in the PostgreSQL area). It has greatly reduced the effort to market for our products while also saving money by not needing to purchase Delphi Enterprise, Professional is enough thanks to UniDAC. Pros Compatibility with both Delphi and Lazarus/FreePascal. Super-easy to use installer that seems to 'just work' year after year. Abstraction layer to allow easier swapping between back-end database engines. Cons It is called Universal Data Access Components due to the large number of providers which is both a good thing and a bad thing. The negative for our company is that we only use a few providers regularly so the cost can feel burdensome, most notably when the CRM connectors and such were added a few years back. The positive is that without the bundling, we likely wouldn't have tested out such connectors... Reason for choosing Universal Data Access Components ZeosLib is free but not as easy to configure nor use as UniDAC. The abstraction layer of UniDAC is superior. FireDAC is expensive due to being tied to Enterprise or greater variants of Delphi and I question whether it is maintained and extended with the care of that which UniDAC is maintained and perhaps more importantly, supported. Pros It is straightforward to use, reliable, and gives me access to every feature I need when writing database connected applications, large and small. It plays nice with the other 3rd party components we use such as DevExpress and Fast report etc, and it well documented. Anyone who worked with Oracle knows how painful it can be to install their data access layer, Unidac allows us to never bother with this again. I wouldn't be without it, and use it in preference to any other database component suites. Pros Installation is simple; using the components is also easy. Documentation is good, and the ability to flip between database platforms by changing connectors is like magic. On the odd occasion I have needed support, the response has been helpful and timely. I have developed against SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite, Access, Oracle and Advantage database platforms with no issues at all. Another great feature is that there are no dlls that have to be distributed with an application. Cons There isn't really anything to dislike! Pros It allows it to work in integration with different databases and makes your life easier in general. I saw a more performance increase than I expected, so I plan to use this software for a long time. Cons Sometimes freezing and crashes occur, this may be related to my internet speed or my operating system (I use an open source operating system, such as Linux.) I will send error reports to customer service as soon as possible, but it is not a big problem for me because after restarting all problems disappear.
