The implementation is easy. But it is expensive, compared with other network security devices. Pros We use the Cisco ASA Software on the ASA suite, which provides the firewall, VPN and IPS security functions for our organization. Cons The cost of license is high. The variety of ACL-command formats on various versions of ASA sometime confuse the configuration. The integration of ASA and other network devices (e.g. Fortinet) needs much time for the investigation. I love that it can do most things you can imagine if you can discover how to configure it that way. But if your a smaller office and don't need so many bells and whistles then I would definitely go with Meraki. Pros It can do a lot of things that younger siblings like Meraki products can not. Unfortunately you don't get a relatively easy interface to work with. The old pros will say use CLI, but newbies will most likely need the ASDM. There are a ton of advanced things you can do with the ASA. Cons Price and ease of use are my 2 least favorite things. There really should be an decent gui by now. The Firepower security module is still a hot mess. Support has slowly been becoming slower and less helpful over the years as well.
