### "How my Payhip store become a hub for my online sales strategy. "

February 25, 2026

5.0

I started using Payhip to sell my non-fictio books that weren't moving on other platforms. I had such a small audience and compared to other sites that did the same thing, Payhip just felt easier to use and set up. Plus I liked the store, and up-sell options: when somone adds a book to their cart, I can offer more books at a discount, which can increase total sale per client. It was easy to integrate with my ESP, and even has options inside payhip to create and send update emails. (like when I announce a new books!) There are subscription options, and membership, plus I can sell physical items, which helps if I want to clean out some of my vintage closet contents and share with my newsletter.

Pros

I have been using payhip as my main store for over three years and would recommend it to any author, creator or even a unique newsletter specialist. It literally takes three minutes to add a new product, it can be integrated with email service providers (when someone buys a product, it adds them to a list) plus on the Payhip store, there are cross sell and marketing opportunities that take seconds to set up.

Cons

Payment processing fees are in line with others, but it won't deposit on weekends, and because of the time zone, sales payments might feel like processing pay out takes an extra day. This can be a frustration at first, but as you reach daily sales, the processing time can even out.

### "Simple and affordable for selling digital products. "

September 6, 2025

4.0

Pay-hip is smooth and creator friendly. It takes away a lot of the friction of setting up an online store. It's a little boring on Ui/Ux side of things but it gets the job done.

Pros

Payhip is a cool platform for creators who want an easy way to sell digital products, memberships, or courses without needing complicated technical setups. Has the essentials down to a T, not bloated with features.

Cons

Design customization is limited, lacks robust marketing analytics which can be helpful to digital creators. This is really digital product focused rather than volume.

### "Disappointed with Payhip"

September 25, 2022

3.0

It stared out great - they were attentive and helpful - but then I started to have issues that were not set up related and support went silent. No help or reply!

Pros

Payhip looked perfect for me. It was my website, store, and courses all on one platform. I tried the free version (which is great - you can do it free but the transaction fees are very high then!) Set up was reasonably easy (except I had trouble figuring out image sizes! it didn't say anywhere so it was trial and error!) The course building was very simple to use. I really liked that part! The chat feature with clients and prospective clients was excellent! Real time - sent to my inbox and I could just reply via email to them. I think for a simple digital products store that you pay once and download it would be perfect! They have an affiliate link program for my clients too - I do love that!!!

Cons

The client management side was difficult. Since I had courses - it was that part that was not ideal. I would have loved a teacher portal side that showed my courses on it - class lists, etc... more like canvas. Mostly it just felt clunky - hard to get around in. I thought I'd just figure it out and it would be easier but that didn't happen. Then they stopped answering my questions... no more support! No reply when my clients on phones couldn't see my links. The loss of support was the end for me.

### "Payhip is my go to"

April 23, 2026

5.0

I love Payhip because it’s such an easy and beginner-friendly tool to use. It allows you to do more than just sell products—you can also create blog content, promote your items, and set up upsells to increase your earnings.

Pros

Payhip is extremely easy to navigate, even for beginners who have little to no experience with online selling platforms.

Cons

Payhip requires you to handle your own advertising and promotion. While the platform gives you the tools to upload and sell your products, it doesn’t automatically bring in traffic or customers.

October 26, 2025

When I had a question, it was answered by support promptly. I found the software easy to use and downloads work swiftly for my clients.

Pros

Easy to use and works so well. I love that Payhip lets you use the software without a monthly charge, this is so helpful when getting started.

Cons

I haven’t found anything I dislike yet. If I was being picky I would say that it just took me a few clicks to figure out the design/colour options.

### "Where Has Payhip Been All My Life?!"

November 5, 2025

5.0

I am blown away by how robust Payhip is for a free offering! Where has this platform been all my life!! I spent a long time setting up and testing a comparable platform that cost $135 month and it drove me crazy trying to wrap my head around the interface and work flow. PayHip is straight forward no nonsense!

Pros

It's totally FREE to start! It's got so many great features that you will pay dearly for on other platforms.

Cons

The user interface is somewhat convoluted trying to access pages to edit. Style sheets and ability to embed audio and video on public pages is limited.

### "Pure Excellence"

October 16, 2024

5.0

Excellent to say the least. Very Easy to work with.

Pros

Payhip is a lovely place to work at. The staff are friendly and ever so willing to help even a beginner start up. Friendly to use app with lovely features that offer a variety of options to help boost your creativity and income.

Cons

Would be nice to have a direct payment into one's bank account, considering the fees and time taken to withdraw from Paypal, bit of a bummer, for me personally, considering I am a South Africanand the fees charged and time that Paypal takes.

### "An efficient bridge to sales funnels and creative monetization"

August 9, 2025

5.0

Using Payhip has been smooth. Setup is easy, and it's great for digital products, though customization is a bit limited. I have successfully began monetizing social media pages for myself and my clients.

Pros

The value for money is excellent, as there is a free plan with full features for those that are just starting.

Cons

While it can start off great in terms of frugality, the transaction fees for the free plan higher than that of the paid plan. It will add up, and eventually you will feel like it only makes sense to upgrade.

### "A Great Platform for Website Needs, But Could Use More Features""

October 11, 2024

5.0

: I absolutely love Payhip. Not only do I use it for all my website needs, but I've also recommended it to my clients. They, too, love how easy it is to use and appreciate the ability to create as many pages as needed. Payhip has been a great resource for building websites, and its simplicity is a huge plus.

Pros

What I love most about Payhip is its ease of use and flexibility. The platform allows for unlimited page creation, and the integration with other software is top-notch. Despite a few missing features, it's a fantastic solution, and I highly recommend it to others.

Cons

The only downside for me is that Payhip is slow to add more advanced functionality options. For example, I need a job board and a few other features to help my agency consolidate everything into one platform. While they have excellent integrations, finding the right company that already works with Payhip can be a bit of a challenge.

### "Payhip eCommerce Review "

June 10, 2024

5.0

I think I would describe my experience with Payhip as exquisite since I find endless delight in using it.

Pros

Payhip is very convenient for anyone who desires to sell digital products, and I know this because I use it for selling my ebooks. One other thing I love about Payhip, is the fact that they only take %5 from every sale you make, which is very fair since they have made things easy for whomever yearns to sell online.

Cons

Currently, nothing, I am content with how they run their platform.

### "LOVE This App For Selling Digital Books For Author Clients"

January 5, 2023

5.0

Whenever I've had a question, concern, or provided feedback to PayHip, the response time has been adequate for issues. However, I've not had anything break on the storefronts I build, so I cannot speak to that. The fact that I'm good with technology and graphic design has also played a role in my experience with the app. I've been able to size out the optimal graphics view of a digital product for a template I use in Photoshop when setup new storefronts or adding new digital books. Some clients have expressed a desire to sell physical books off the storefront, but that hasn't been implemented as we've not delved into how processing the order would take place, as print books would need to be ordered from one or more POD distributors.Overall, I love the app and recommend it highly to all current and prospective clients who are seeking to sell books from their own websites outside of online vendors. The 5% individual sale fee definitely beats the 30-65% take from online book sellers, which is a sore point for authors where Amazon is concerned. I've looked at Shopify and WooCommerce for my clients, but PayHip is the easiest and best app for authors that I've found when comparing features. There's always something a company can do better to improve the user experience, but you get a lot of bang for your buck with PayHip.

Pros

I create storefronts for authors wanting to maximize their sales. The 5% per sale is better than the 30-40% retails take for each sale. Books can be setup by series in on collection pages from the main storefront. It makes for easy customer searches for a book by series, while exploring unfamiliar series. Love cross-selling, which benefits back list sales of books using modest discount incentives when a customer adds a book to their cart. Coupon codes are a must feature for authors to provide early access and/or discounts to new subscribers moving through complex onboarding automations, which identifies super fans, medium fans, and removing deadwood subscribers. Newsletter discounts offer clients the ability to give subscribers special pricing on new or monthly newsletter deals. We can offer customers discounts of digital books two/three weeks prior to a new release. Example, if a book releases on XXX date, we offer the book to subscribers, Facebook group and page followers for two or three weeks prior to release at a discount, which provides added value and maintains newsletter subscriptions and open rates.Aesthetics are critical to customer experience, and the storefront is one of the cleanest I've seen. Setup is fairly easy for someone experienced in technology in basic construction or maintenance of websites.A critical, major selling point when I recommend PayHip to clients is they don't have to deal with VAT or credit card fees, accounts setup, or maintenance.

Cons

If someone isn't tech savvy, the development of a storefront can be a high learning curve. However, once the store is setup, it isn't too difficult to add new product. Testing of a new book being added can be a challenge for an inexperienced user. Depending on the genre an author writes will determine customer experience in terms of using mobile or website. Older book reading audiences still use computers for buying books, so the store front could be optimized better when it comes to storefront aesthetics for a stronger customer experience. The one MAJOR Con to using PayHip is the fact that they require a PDF be uploaded with every product page made for digital book sales. Authors should never sell their books in PDF format due to piracy concerns. My work around is to load the same information PDF file explaining how the customer will receive a link from BookFunnel for receiving the book. It's worked extremely well for the past three years of digital sales. It helps instruct users how to use the BookFunnel service if they're unfamiliar with the distributor, while maintaining a stronger deterrent against a book being pirated. So, I've managed to make lemonade out of lemons, but the ability to distribute digital books in the old mobi format for older eReaders or the general ePub format would be ideal.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Payhip

Shopify at the time of consideration had a clunky storefront and user interface. It would take more time to set up a storefront. This was two years ago, and I think that's changed, but in the past 12 months, a prospective client mentioned that the coupon feature wasn't as strong as PayHip's. Additionally, I don't recall Shopify having a cross-sell feature when I researched them original. GumRoad is a book distributor that I migrated a client from because the vendor's site was clunky, IIRC didn't allow for BookFunnel distribution, and didn't do cross-selling at the time of research.WooCommerce is a minefield for an author who doesn't know WordPress or have the budget to implement the plugin/feature. I build small sites, and I refuse to implement WooCommerce because of hackers exploiting security flaws in the plug-in, and it's time-consuming to set-up, monitor, and keeping the website secure. I tell clients to let PayHip to do the heavy lifting. If not, I tell them to hire someone who works with WooCommerce daily/weekly to ensure a secure buying experience for the customer and to save them stress if their website is compromised. I also recommend to them that if they choose to use WooCommerce that they implement it on a completely different domain and a different webhost to help strengthen security and avoid a complete meltdown of either the main site or storefront if one is hacked.

### "Payhip is PERFECT for Indie Authors!"

February 2, 2023

5.0

Pros

Payhip has been an answered prayer. As an indie author and former IT specialist, I had the ability to create my own website when I wanted to remove my e-books from Amazon, however no one wants to spend the time that they could be writing, on designing a website. Payhip made the transition from Wix.com, (which I'd used for over 10yrs), simple and flawless. Payhip gave me more than what I needed and for FAR LESS than I was paying for with Wix.com each month. I love that my website automatically has the look of a "bookstore."

Cons

Honestly, the only complaint that I have is not easily knowing if there is a function/feature that will allow me to connect my social media channels to my website.

### "Payhip est trop risqué "

March 13, 2024

4.0

### "Waste of time "

June 2, 2023

1.0

Absolutely horrible! Angry I wasted my time creating the product. Frustrated for my customers who already paid and couldn’t login to access the product. Disgusted with lack of support. Infuriated I missed the deadline and have to go elsewhere to start over and catch up! The worst - I lost a number of customers that could not log in and left.

Pros

Easy to build and customize. Plenty of payouts and endless possibilities.

Cons

Absolutely no functionality. Customers CAN’T login! Note that there are two systems - old and new, they aren’t integrated and cause a huge mess. If you have an old platform that used to be “ subscriptions” and added “membership” page you will be completely out of business as NOBODY will be able to log in to access the product. NOBODY will help you from tech department. NOBODY cares!

### "PayHip streamlines ecommerce"

May 8, 2022

5.0

I couldn't be happier!

Pros

It might be the easiest software to setup and use I have ever used. It processes payments for my digital products effortlessly. I was simple to add my ebooks to the site and the landing page was a no brainer to create.

Cons

It requires that PayPal be used for ecommerce payments. PayHip does not interface directly with my bank account, thus the need for PayHip. But is was not difficult to do this.

Reason for choosing Payhip

I wanted to use BookFunnel for my ebooks and the best way to do that was to utilize BookFunnel's PayHip widget.

### "When you start selling online, start here"

August 16, 2022

5.0

It was easy for me to find my way around. My booking page and course pages looks professional and it is easy to use.

Pros

The fact that I could create my booking page as a life coach and add my courses as well as add a sales page, made it so much easier to put myself out there and to start without a big business investment.

Cons

The only thing is the fact that we can't do PayPal monthly membership yet. But this is not a problem for everybody. If you have Stripe in your country, you can use that for monthly membership. And I know they are working on this.

### "Save on selling digital products"

June 13, 2022

4.0

My overall experience was not negative at all, my business just grew too much for the platform but I do still use it for a few singular digital products we offer.

Pros

Great platform if you are just starting out and you are selling digital products. Automatic downloads. Extremely easy to use. Price is free but there is a 5% transaction fee so if you are low on money, this is a great way to start making quick sales plus they have a plus plan for $29/month and then the transaction fee drops down to 2% so you have options.

Cons

They do not have a lot of features and functions available. Great if you are just starting but once your business grows you will need to upgrade to a more functional platform.
