It works, and the actual PDF functionality is good. However, something as basic as opening and editing PDFs shouldn't require such a heavy piece of software with so much extra stuff running in the background. It feels like Adobe has spent more time finding ways to monetize the product rather than actually improving it. We still use it because it's what people know and expect, and it's the most compatible with other product add-ins, but if a client doesn't specifically need Adobe, I'm generally inclined to look at alternatives. It's not bad software, but it feels like it should be a lot better for what they're charging. Pros It does pretty much everything you'd need to do with a PDF, and most people already know how to use it. It's been around forever, so compatibility is rarely an issue. We have clients who prefer Adobe, and it's easier to stick with something they're familiar with than try to get everyone onto something else. Cons It's bloated, slow, and ridiculously expensive for what it is. Too many pop-ups, background processes, and unnecessary features getting in the way. I feel like the software hasn't meaningfully improved in over a decade, yet somehow it keeps getting heavier and more expensive. I also really dislike that Adobe moved away from perpetual licenses and now expects everyone to pay a subscription indefinitely. The Ease of Use makes common PDF tasks straightforward, while the File Conversion capabilities are useful when working with different document formats. The Customization Options provide flexibility for different document requirements, and the platform can support Project and Task Management when documents need to be reviewed, edited, and tracked as part of a workflow. Although there can occasionally be minor Bugs and Issues, they have not significantly affected my overall experience. Considering its range of PDF tools and document-management capabilities, I believe Adobe Acrobat provides good Value for Money. Pros Adobe Acrobat is easy to use and provides good value for money for creating, editing, reviewing, and managing PDF documents. The File Conversion features are particularly useful for converting documents between PDF and other formats. The available Customization Options also make it easier to adjust documents and workflows based on different requirements. The overall Features are useful for organizing documents and supporting Project and Task Management when reviewing, editing, and sharing files. I usually do so in the browser without logging into a paid account. I use Acrobat for personal and professional use. Pros I like that Adobe Acrobat is fairly easy to use on Windows computers and seems to be built in natively to some devices. I also like that Adobe Acrobat has a browser option that allows you to edit and combine PDFs without installing software. Cons I don’t like that some features, like signing a PDF, are locked behind a paywall/account log-in. I also sometimes have trouble with PDFs not generating the full boxes and having to place text boxes myself. I edit legacy documents here where the originals are lost. You can reverse engineer them to a MS Word format but this gave me mixed results. Rearranging pages, deleting some and making edits is easy and fast. This tool is peerless for that essential work. Pros There are lots of options for reading documents and also editing them. As the product is mature, it is reliable and I consider it an essential for my writing role. It is a pleasure to use, for the most part and represents good value. Cons Latest changes have moved to a subscription model and the UI changed to favor Adobe's own marketing content. This was at the expense of ease of use so I'd recommend switching back to the old look and feel. Which is still modern. It is a lightweight app and seldom has issues. Pros It is easy to use to create PDFs and is the industry standard. It also has great features like Adobe Sign. Cons The cost of the product is very high. It costs as much as a Microsoft Office license which comes with way more programs. There are also other pdf products like foxit that have similar features with way less cost.
