Business Development Furniture Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Unable to integrate with Gmail" March 15, 2021 2.0 Pros Just started using it, so really haven't had the chance to explore yet Technical support answered my call right away, and gave me an answer to the technical issue at hand Cons Customizing vocabulary from existing emails was a big selling feature, however it DOES NOT WORK WITH GMAIL!!! Support informed me this is a "known issue" and there is no resolution This is a big disappointment and will likely cost me hours of additional time to manually update the vocabulary, or transpose all my emails (thousands and thousands) to word documents that Dragon will recognize. Too bad this can't be straightened out. I will look at another software solution. You can have it skip a line, erase and so much more. The more you use it the better it works. Cons I would like to see more features to where you can use this online more instead of just documents. It is extremely accurate and makes the mundane task of typing a thing of the past. The software seems to continue learning your voice and speech patterns the more you use it. Pros We use Dragon Speech Recognition for almost everything such as research papers, emails, customer correspondence, professional documents, and case notes. We find the accuracy to be impressive and it's super easy to use. Cons It takes a bit of time to setup/train the software to recognize your voice patterns and specific words but the initial time invested saves hours later. This software is extremely accurate in recognition - get the job done quickly & effortlessly. Cons Features in using the controls of the software can make it frustrating. Owner Used the software for: ### "Great Software, but it is a pity the company that markets it is so aweful" July 30, 2014 4.0 I have used DNS (as we call it) for over 10 years now, but every time there is a problem, which usually occurs with every upgrade or new installation, I am horrified by the lack of help from the customer care people. The most recent upgrade is a good case study for this. As an early adopter I was sucked into buying the new upgrade from DNS 12 to 13, which Nuance offered as a download. Over 3.4Gb of download, which can only be achieved through their own download app. Excruciatingly slow. Then the downloaded installer didn't work, so I contacted the customer care. They (after 4 days 8 hours) suggested that I should uninstalll the older version - DNS12. Incidentally there was a stage in the abortive install that said it would do this for me. I uninstalled my working version of DNS12, but still the new DNS13 would not install. They suggested that I re-download the ware - but by this time the downloader had expired (yes it is date sentitive) so they wanted more money from me to extend the download period. I now have no DNS12, no DNS 13 and no speech recognition. It is a real pity - because the actual speech recognition, transcription and PC control function extremely well - once you get through the training period (for it to know how your voice sounds). This cuts down on cost. Pros Most providers are familiar with dragon products. They know how it works and training is easy. Its easy to support at the IT level as well. Number One Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Don't waste your money" June 25, 2016 2.0 Bought the product and installed it. Had some problems with that, but got it done. After the FIRST profile update, I began getting error message about the product not being able to rename the current profile to a backup name. Customer service was no help at all, even though the problem is apparently very common on Windows machines. Headset is also a real cheap piece of crap. Pros It works - sometimes. I'm so glad that I bought it! No regrets! Pros I really enjoy using my Dragon software. It has helped my productivity in writing and has given my wrists a much needed break when I write for long hours. I am impressed with how well the software spells and autocorrects. Cons The only thing that is a little cumbersome is that I've had to create a way for the software to work with a mac. It does work okay, but I wish it was easier on a Mac. Review Source BN Bill N. Once installed and you've gone through the set-up, it is super easy to use. I can't tell you how many HOURS it saved me on school and work projects because I can speak or read notes instead of having to type them. Cons I have to be very consistent at times in how I speak or it doesn't get it right. I would suggest investing in a quality microphone/headset as this will make it even easier. Pros I am a writer, and during a particularly rough bout of carpal tunnel, I came across Dragon Speech Recognition. There was a learning curve, but I was able to "write" even when I couldn't type. Once I got used to it, my productivity increased because I talk faster than I write. Cons There is a learning curve, so be ready to slow down your productivity for a short time, but it's well worth it and you'll save time after that initial period. Review Source BC Brad C. Pros Honestly, there was very little I liked about this software. There was no download only option, the pricing method for students was far more complicated that it needed to be. Ummm, it looks kind of slick? Thats about the nicest thing I can say. Cons Firstly, the software corrupted my Mac and I had to completely reload my OS. 5 hours later I was back up and running. I spent the requisite number of hours training the software. The first use of it however I was around 40% accurate. I spent probably double the time that wit would have taken to have just typed my document, trying to edit and correct it. I "retrained" the software and got about 56% accuracy. I could not direct the cursor, select words or perform actions using voice. The cursor jumped around randomly and would suddenly start transcribing mid paragraph. I was able to find lots of discussion online but no workable solutions. With SIRI and my basic Mac voice transcription, I was able to get mid 70% accuracy. For a purpose built program I was pretty disappointed. I then had to fight to return the product. I was eventually given my money back. Human Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Abandoned by Nuance" August 1, 2016 1.0 After owning DNS 1 through 12, when I upgraded to Windows 10, DNS 12 doesn't work. A call to Support advised me DNS 12, and every other version, is not compatible with Windows 10. To work with Win 10, you're forced to buy DNS 13 for the "sale" price of just $99.99. I'll go to another supplier before I'm held for ransom. Nuance has no customer support. Their answer is buy more product. That stinks. Pros I liked it when it worked. Pros The software is decent but if you have Microsoft Word, you simply click on DICTATE (there is a microphone symbol in the task bar) and it is no different to Dragon. I had to pay for Dragon, and although I paid for MS Word, the dictation software was included. Cons The grammar aspect is a little awkward and clumsy. I've since used it both recreationally and professionally, and look forward to using it for decades to come. It's the most impressive piece of software I've encountered. Pros Where to start? It defies belief how much better Dragon is than its competitors. I've tried many speech recognition software solutions over the years and none hold a candle to Dragon in terms of accuracy, adaptability, and practicality. Cons There is nothing to like least, except the price, which is well worth it anyway. Obviously I'd like it to be a little more affordable, but it's still worth every penny. Review Source RW Ross W.
