I have used the software for years especially when it comes to using it conjuntion with a translation program.

Pros

The simple fact that you can speak into a microphone and that it transcibes what you say is amazing. Speech recognition has come a long way over the years and Dragon Naturally Speaking has been at the very top. For the most part the software recognizes you voice without problems.

Cons

Heavy accents, multiple people talking, but above all fast talking people still cause a lot of problems with the voice recognition.

Pros

I like that it's easy to set up on any computer. It dictates just as fast as you speak, so that's a plus. I hate it when a program is delayed, but this one is great.

Cons

What I like least is even though I use it often, it still messes up a lot of things that I say. Fortunately, there are no typos, but there are some things I read back and ask myself, "what was I even saying there?" Could use improvement on picking up words/sentences a little better.

### "Not Funny for the Money"

Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to record complex thoughts and sentences using uncommon words was an exercise in frustration and an overall disappointment.

Pros

The cool thing about this software is that for basic words and sentences, spoken with an average voice, it works really well. If you're using to record simple, straight forward, easily recognizable content matter it works incredibly well and is very cool to watch it work and fun to use.

Cons

Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for difficult sentences and uncommon, atypical words, especially when spoken with an accent, makes this software essentially useless. But worse than useless, the words it was "recognizing" turned the sentences into jibber-jabber. While some of the sentences became funny to read, given the high price I paid for this software made those funny sentences nothing to laugh at.

I'm not clear whether I'm solving more than I am creating or the other way around. Dragon is actually worse that Microsoft Office for day-to-day functionality, which is saying a lot. Or, maybe saying 'not a lot'.

Pros

It occasionally functions satisfactorily.

Cons

It is unstable, fails to function, decides not to work for no apparent reason, disconnects from my headset for no apparent reason, claims there are no Word or Outlook add-ins when they are obviously in place.

Excellent experience as I could interact wit documents, email tools such as outlook and take advantage of having a microphone

Pros

You can edit and write new documentations with your voice and what is even better, you can transcribe pre recorded audio and search online to browse info

Cons

Sometimes the product does not work well depending on your accent. You have to enunciate well to be successful with Dragon

Pros

Is a speech recognition program, especially for those of us who do not have time to sit down and write, this program allows you to dictate documents, search the internet, send mail electronic, among others, from the team, quickly and accurately with just use the voice.

Cons

The only drawback found so far is that it demands more attention at the time of reviewing the texts.

Pros

The thing I liked most about Dragon Speech Recognition Software is how well the product works for our students who need it to take classes. Our students with hearing/speech difficulties use this software.

Cons

I have minimal complaints about Dragon Speech Recognition Software. There is a bit of a learning curve for the students who begin using the software.

The speed of grading papers, and the ease of putting the comments right into bubbles using the review function of Word.

Pros

It allows me to grade papers much more quickly than typing out comments by hand. I actually give students more feedback when I use Dragon.

Cons

It sometimes misunderstands me persistently. For example, it types "point" for "poem." I've tried and tried to train it for a few words, and it has gotten better, but it's frustrating. I also wish it did not use so many resources in the computer. It takes a lot of memory. I also wish it were easier to save files and transfer them to another computer when setting it up on another computer.

I like this product overall. Makes sending messages a snap even tho I am not a proficient typer.

Pros

Occasionally i need to dictate processes or procedures for the next shift or a different department. This software makes that easy and quick for someone like me who is not the fastest typer.

Cons

Like any voice recognition your bound to get mistranslated words from time to time. No other real cons to speak of at this time.

I'm more likely to tell people NOT to use it

Cons

Poor customer support. Took it off my computer as not functioning very well with Windows 10. Later attempted to reinstall and wanted more money to do so. When I asked if they could guarantee it would function properly with Windows 10 if I paid the money, never heard from them again.

Pros

I love how this software allows you to talk to your computer, and it types what you say! It also has features to go back and edit your document, all while still talking to your computer (no typing required).

Cons

It takes a minute to get used to the voice commands and to set up your voice profile, but afterthat, it has been a great product,l.

It was very beneficial to non typists and user who prefer to talk rather then type .

Pros

Was very easy to use especially for older people who are not so computer literate. Had many functionality and was much more better then other software on the market. Found it is to configure and work.

Cons

When you had to re-install because of a computer crash it was not so easy as it would remember and not let you re-install especially after having bought the software. Was just difficult to get them to understand could not always uninstall as harddrive was dead and could not get around the problem.

Using the software I was able to cut the time spent note writing in half. It is able to type with normal rhythm of speech. It has been a great value for the cost.

Pros

It cuts down the time that it takes me to complete notes. The software is intuitive and learns common words and accents when used over time.

Cons

At times it does not understand a word or is difficult to add quotation marks and other punctuation into the sentences.

Pros

Product is great once you figure out how to use it. It is very helpful when writing papers for school.

Cons

Updates are terrible to say the least, On almost every update I had to start over with the voice training.

Pros

From a writing/editing perspective, I have loved this software. I like to physically write my ideas and stories on paper with a pen, and then enter them into the computer for editing. However, this can be a very tedious and daunting task. I love Dragon Naturally Speaking because you can speak to your computer (aka read what I've already written) and it will automatically type it up for you. Also, there are voice commands for editing. So you can read something, it gets "typed", and then you can use the voice commands to go back and change what has been added to your document, without ever touching a keyboard or mouse!

Cons

Set up takes a little while because you have to read sample text, in order for the software to get used to your voice and the way you speak. Also, the read-back feature isn't my favorite because it sounds like a choppy-robot who is reading your story back to you.

Over the years I've gotten fairly quick at typing despite my hunt and peck method but the errors and time to make sure I haven't misspelled something that passes the generic spell check was tedious. Dragon voice recognition was a true life saver.

Pros

The ability to simply narrate vocally the information needed to generate various reports, memos, letters, etc.

Cons

The process of getting the software comfortable with my voice and establishing the recognition of my words. In reality it was pretty efficient, but it was the only laborious part of the process.

The idea is great that you can speak into your computer and it will write the words for you.

Cons

I found it didn't always hear me properly. Perhaps I needed to speak slowly or more clearly, not sure. I would like to see it be able to pick up the regular speaker so I don't have to alter my pitch or speed.

Pros

I started using Dragon Naturally Speaking with Version 4 back in the mid 1990s. Now known as Naturally Speaking, the product has much improved over the years. I have a heavy southern accent and it you would expect that the software would require a large amount of speech training to adapt to my voice. This is not the case with this product.

Cons

The software often does not work well with your built in pc mic so you will need to purchase an additional external mic. This is probably not so much a software issue as a hardware issue.

Dragon Speech Recognition is a great productivity tool and users should take the time to train their teams and learn how to use this software in a way that saves time and stress.

Pros

Speech-recognition software is popular and used as a way to speed up writing. I used Dragon Speech Recognition a few years ago and and learning more about newer editions. I like that they program transcribed my voice more accurately the more I used it.

Cons

I think that the program is overpriced and should be updated to make it more user-friendly. The features are somewhat hard to figure out because each feature leads into another. I wasn't sure how to turn the software on and off and which computer programs would pick up speech to transcribe.

Very easy to use, speech to text was very accurate.

Pros

This softer was very helpful after having rotator cuff surgery. I was unable to easily and comfortably type. Use of this product to help with coaching notes etc was extremely helpful.

Cons

After getting the product set up, it was very easy to use. I did not see any issues with the product at all.

Love the idea and wished it would have worked but not good for business applications

Pros

This dramatically lowered my pain from typing in my shoulders and neck. It was easy to use and intuitive. It did take a bit to “train it” but it was worth it

Cons

It does not work well with Microsoft products. It would shut down my outlook. More often than now and it turned from being a time saver to a time sucker. When I called for support they were not able to help me and I called multiple times

Pros

When you are poor and slow typist, this will save you a lot of time. Speak to capture client meeting notes instead of slow typing.

Cons

If it doesn't like your voice it will have trouble picking up your words correctly. But usually it is fairly accurate.
