It was a reasonably big investment for me with a rather small return. Pros I am a slow typer, and I can talk fast. I do like the fact that the software makes adjustments to the accents and captures the speech reasonably accurately. Cons The capture is slow, and I did not really save any time typing. I realize that the main design of the software probably to assist visually impaired people, but then wouldn't the frequent inaccuracies make it rather bad for that category of customers? It has come a long ways since it was introduced. Pros When I first started using Dragon a while ago, it was first being developed. It was hard to use and the translation was a little spotty. As they have developed it more, the translation and functionality has gotten better. You can easily use Dragon for transcribing and "writing" papers at your will. It allows you to be more handfree and fluid for working more efficiently. Cons Sometimes with any translation software it cannot be accurate. I don't think anything is 100 %. Review Source MS Mark S. My experience with Dragon has been fantastic! Pros I no longer need to decipher my "poorly self-taught shorthand" or try to keep up typing. Dragon does most all the work for me, typing the Council meeting minutes. Its super accurate and user friendly. Cons The cost for Dragon products is on the high end, but most of the time we get what we pay for. Dragon is no exception: its top of the line in speech recognition software. Pros It's easy to use. My father is a doctor trained in the 1970s and adapting to working without support staff. Dragon Nuance helps him a lot. Dragon's Naturally Speaking is intuitive and accurate for speech to text dictation. I found it kind of difficult I thought it would save me time on certain reports I had to write but it made me work harder then if I would of manuely typed out my work myself. Cons I didn't like that when I spoke it didn't understand me and would write nonsense maybe it was hard to understand my words but really it was more of a waste of time then time saving for me go figure. MD Publishing Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Does not work half of the time" July 1, 2020 1.0 poor Pros Half of the time, the program "reads" fields in various programs as electronic medical records and it does not work (the program has a restriction for electronic health records, so doctors need to pay more to be able to dictate into EMRs). It will put in words that I never said or not put in words or phrases that I CLEARLY stated. I dictate professional documents and am fed up with going back and finding things either said and missing or not said at all that will only destroy the integrity of the entire document. Cons Dictation accuracy is not the greatest with the headset that is provided and you will likely need a better quality recording device/microphone. Many updates to this software have been over the years making this software cutting edge. Cons This software is expensive! Won't work with ms word and could never install DNS 13 due to download problems. Poor word recognition but biggest problem is that it constantly crash itself or other programs. Support was useless as only wanted you to buy program and couldn't handle refund. Pros I purchased this product as a Christmas present for my autistic brother. He wanted to write as a creative outlet but was having trouble staying focused. Being able to talk out his ideas and have them translated to a word document is amazing. Cons It's definitely a bit pricey for such a simple software. June 11, 2015 2.0 I bought a previous version ... with a recommended Dictaphone and headset. I installed on one Desktop and one laptop. After a while I changed PC, then I changed laptop. I'd upgraded OSs too along the way, each time needing a new install. When I came to re-install after a crash the registration refused to work and the company refused to offer me an extension. Driver Used the software for: ### "Horrible results" September 25, 2016 1.0 It came bundled with a recorder I purchased, after training I tried using it and it was very bad, it would often just stop translating or skip over large sections of audio. I tried talking to the manufacturer but was told since it was a bundled product that they were not responsible for it's support. I use the product for logging uber & lyft trips and it doesn't work.
