Just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, but in this case, the free version fully meets my needs. Pros The software has a free version that will cover basic security needs for most individual users. For a larger organization or individuals with higher than normal security needs, the free version may not cut it, but they do have a paid version as well that's more feature rich. Cons The free version does \*not\* include the feature for automated scheduled scans, which is an almost essential feature for security software. For me, I can live with it because I have a reminder set to regularly initiate scans of my computer, but it is a point of friction that may be a deal breaker for others. Review Source GD Giovanna D. Overall, Malwarebytes has done a great job at getting to the bottom of any virus or harmful software we've come across; as well as detecting anything along the way. Pros I like how simple it is to figure out and how effective it does exactly what you want it to without making it overly complicated. The menu software is precise and understandable. It runs fairly quickly and has complimenting options and settings. It even has a trial version, so you can try it before you purchase. Cons Like most malware, it does slow performance while its running. I do sometimes wish it allowed you to customize more closely how much or what you scan. Review Source Jennifer R. Occasionally, I'll click a questionable link, and Malwarebytes will prohibit the site from loading and will tell me why. The last time I had issues with malware was before I installed Malwarebytes. In the 2 years I have had it, malware has not been an issue. Pros Installation was a breeze. Download, install, and never look at it again. Just Set it, and Forget it! Cons There are no cons with Malwarebytes that I've encountered. It runs in the background - I don't even know it's there. I love its ease of use and user-friendly interface. I have reinstalled this software on multiple conputers and I rarely modified its settings because it comes with the best default settings to protect your computers. It has a efficient scanning system that detect malware on your computer and does not eat too much of your computer resources. December 31, 2020 5.0 Virus programs are essential to have, and for years I've never had a single complaint with my choice of Malwarebytes. The price is fair, the real-time protection is excellent, and it's been on every PC I've used for the past ten or so years as a result. Pros The speed of the scans are easily my favorite thing about Malwarebytes. Even on a PC with multiple large Harddrives that are relatively full of data, the scans are always snappy and quicker than I was expecting. Cons Scheduled scans have a tendency to run in the background with little to no warning that they've begun, so I've had occasional situations where PC resources are suddenly being taken up by the scan temporarily without a proper heads up. Some malware software is so annoying it feels like malware, but not Malwarebytes. It's always there when you need it, but not in your face like some other products--it's wonderful! Pros Malwarebytes is amazing at finding malware and removing it. I am shocked at the amount of things it finds sometimes--you can accumulate a ton of them while just shopping online. I have been able to use this to bring friends/family's computer back to life after being infected with malware. Cons I wish the free version has some of the nice paid features. But I think it it is totally worth paying for it since it can stop ransomware attacks before your data is compromised. Review Source Patty E.
