May 23, 2017 5.0 Malwarebytes protects our pc's from harmful web sites, viruses, worms, etc and we have used it for quite a few years now. We are a small business, so we need software that allows us to easily handle IT issues in-house. Pros It is inexpensive but very comprehensive in the virus and malware protection that it provides. Our business runs over the internet so it is critical that our computers not get damaged or infected. I have seen it in action catching threats on my own pc and instantly quarantining them and removing them. It is also set to prevent the recent ransomware attacks. Cons From a management standpoint, it would be nice if there was a way for the manager to be notified if a threat is found on a pc - that way we could double check to make sure the employee is not causing any problems by web sites they access etc. Right now we are on the honor system for the employees to self report. Pros This software was able to protect our entire company from a Trojan.Emotet outbreak. Staff were friendly to talk to and let's say the software is crucial for us or else our company would be down on its knees. Cons Support staff are located around the clock, which is good but when you are hooked up to a support staff from a certain time zone, they can only support you during those hours and cannot pass onto another staff. It scans for threats and when it finds them, it can eliminate them. It was especially good at malware and spam type issues. It's simple and not overly complicated Cons There a better more sophisticated protection systems out there. This one has its place. You just need to understand what you are getting and what you are trying to accomplish. For what it does its great, but it has limitations in overall cyber-security protection. I knew about it when I had a very nasty virus/malware in my computer and every single antivirus couldn't detect anything wrong with my computer and I knew something was going on. I found malwarebytes as I was googling for options, downloaded it, ran it and it took care of the problem I had. Since then I have always installed it in any pc or laptop I own and will never change it for anything else. The real time protection is super nice also! I have recommended it to others many, many times. This is one of the best programs on the market and it is also one of the best investments you can make for your internet security. Pros The program works very well and blocks everything malicious, nothing gets through! It seems to work well in conjunction with other Antivirus software without any conflicts whatsoever. Malwarebytes stays in the background and out of sight until it detects an attack. It then deals with the malware or malicious script, allowing you to continue doing your work. The interface is clean and simple, making it very easy to use. The updates are customizable and always install without a problem. Cons At times when it runs a scan, Malwarebytes will use a lot of the computer's system resources. This is temporary, but it could be a problem for older computers or computers with limited memory. While I understand that Malwarebytes' focus is on the newest threat, I don't understand why it cannot design its software into a full-fledged antivirus.
