With just a browser in the US, we can -- on a moment's notice -- initiate a full system scan of a machine in Sydney, Australia. Having the piece-of-mind that comes with knowing every device on our network is protected by best-of-breed endpoint security is worth its weight in gold. Pros I like the ability to run scans remotely, the ease with which I can create remotely deploy the software to new nodes on our network. We set up a mailbox to monitor infected machines, and check it regularly. It makes the job of our IT Manager so much easier. The reporting is good but not stellar, allowing us to quickly pinpoint vulnerabilities and do remediation before the problem becomes unmanageable. Cons Filtering policies can be touchy. If you are too aggressive in setting them up, you can block traffic you never intended to block. January 15, 2019 4.0 Overall, I really like Malwarebytes, and it's my go-to software to run for added protection to my workstation and devices. A must have if you're security conscious when connected to the web. Pros Malwarebytes is very easy to install and run system scans with, and has proven itself to catch malware that Windows Defender did not. The real time protection is a nice feature as well, since browsing the Internet is dangerous. It can catch ransomware, and "drive-by" attacks. Also, I like their licensing and that it's a multi-platform product. A yearly license is for 3 devices is very reasonably priced so that I can protect my desktop, laptop, and phone without breaking the bank. Cons The real-time protection can be very resource intensive at times, even on my 7th gen Intel quadcore with 16GB ram and 2GB NVIDIA card. I've found myself having to close Malwarebytes when running Photoshop in order to open files. I never ran in to this problem running just Windows Defender or Spybot, and I am considering doubling my RAM now. And also, the software has had conflicts with Windows Defender, but not so much in recent versions. I think Malwarebytes still operates as a nice complement to the native Windows protection. October 7, 2020 5.0 My overall experience with Malwarebytes has been most excellent. I have constantly recommended it to family, friends and customers over the years. Pros I had a small computer business for about 5 years. I had customers constantly bringing me laptops and desktops that were full of malware and viruses. Sometimes it was almost impossible to navigate because there was so much malware controlling the operating system and the browsers. I would always find a way to install Malwarebytes on my customer's computer and update the definitions (when possible). Then I would run this outstanding software and let it do what it does best.....quickly and easily find and remove even the toughest and nastiest malware, no matter how deeply it was embedded. When Malwarebytes was done scanning, it would show all the instances of malware and red. I would simply select all malware and press remove! Done!! I would reboot the system and I was then able to freely navigate and inspect the computer for any more potentially hazardous software or security breaches. Malwarebytes was my go-to software for removing malicious malware and viruses from my customers computers. They thought I was a genius!! By the time I was done, their computers were running pristine once again. I have not been in the computer business for several years now, but whenever a friend or family member has "issues" with your notebooks, you can guess what I install first thing. Malwarebytes rocks!! It also slowed down my computer. I also found that McAfee was very intrusive and constantly bombarded my system with useless notifications. There have been numerous instances where the software has warned me of dangerous websites or quarantined dangerous files, and I have never had a malware problem since using this software, so clearly it is effective! Cons What I like least about this software is that sometimes it is very resource intensive. The free version is a different animal and doesn't suffer from the problems I list below. I usually install Malwareybtes free on all my computers at work and at home. Premium definitely offers a lot more functionality and at a great price. I can usually count on Malwarebytes to find and detect problems before they get out of hand, or once to discover existing problems. Cons There is a serious caveat to how much I like Malwarebytes Premium: it has a ridiculous amount of CPU usage. The versions I have had on my system are certainly not optimized or work well with my system. Mind you, I don't have a weak system (i7 3930k CPU with 32GB of RAM), yet when I'm running Malwarebytes Premium with everything set to Active uses 80-100% of my CPU. Apparently, after reading up on it I realized this is not isolated to me but is actually a common problem. If it weren't for this issue, I could give it a glowing recommendation. I still have it since I have a lifetime license, but I have to be careful how much of it I use and when. Also, Premium is meant to be the only anti-malware program on your system and it really doesn't like other anti-virus software (usually they come up as "PUPs" in scans), so you can forget using it together with virtually anything else. I often get out of solutions to remove the viruses and malwares manually by identifying the root cause of infection and everytime, Malwarebytes plays the role of an ultimate solution. Pros I joined my current job recently and the system alloted to me is a desktop PC in which the installed antivirus was repeatedly prompting that it has stopped the virus before doing any harm to the system. At least 50 or 60 prompts were shown in next 30 minutes and I checked the virus history and got to know that its a ransomware which has infected the operating system files and the current antivirus is unable to remove it completely. My boss was telling the technician to reinstall the OS completely to remove this malware. I am using Malwarebytes more than two years now on my personal PCs and it had worked as intended. I installed it quickly in that work PC and just ran it to kill that ransomware as soon as possible. This software worked so efficiently that it not only just removed the malware but also the infected file in a non OS disk partition, which was causing the ransomware to get installed again and again in operating system directory. I just want to thank you Malwarebytes for knowing how to actually remove these advanced malwares. It had saved so much time and effort to reinstall the OS and all drivers and softwares required at work.
