Used the software for: ### "" June 15, 2012 5.0 Our Company is Florida Paving & Trucking Inc. We have dealt with the same REP since 2007. We have gone from Quest to ProMax Contractor and have from time to time neglected to purchase upgrades. We now realize that our production suffered because of it. What I like about our relationship with this software company is the consistent team effort from sales to support and our rep is always available if we have questions. With our latest upgrade to 2.8 we realized that we needed to upgrade our aged hardware. We needed a standalone computer, so I built a simple system using a 6 core AMD processor on a 64 Bit Phenom board. 16GB of Ram also modified the board to support a corsair liquid cooling setup (need to keep things cool) and also installed a Black Caviar dual processor WD 1 TB HDD. Using Windows Pro 7 and ProContractorMX, I installed the system and configured everything in about three hours. We were ready to go, 2.8 has cut our estimation time by better than 66%. The files open faster, everything snaps open, and there are no delays. We can also now process color enhanced plans which since we had not upgraded our software for two years we were missing out on that functionality. Customer support and our account Rep have been the reason for our continued use of the product. ProContractorMX is real easy to use; we have never had any system corruptions, never loss any data, and never lost any estimated data that include plans and documentation. Review Source ED Eric D. I really like the reports available to help manage our projects. Cons I wish the estimating catalog would sync with the accounting catalog. It can be a challenge to keep both catalogs up to date. Pros The Estimating, Accounting, and Project Management is all in one. You can remote into the system from other areas. Cons Not user friendly. You can't dig down into different reports. Once you have your items set up, it really speeds the process. Getting set up is quite an undertaking though. Pros Does what I need it to. Easy to use once you learn it. January 11, 2018 3.0 Pros Some of the functionality was really neat - vacation/PTO was a separate submodule that was fairly easy to use, dividing costs between divisions/jobs was streamlined. Cons Customer support was probably one of the biggest issues. The software was also really flaky - sometimes it would not pay accounts payable invoices for unknown reasons. By the time customer support was able to look into the issue, the invoice was paid manually since it would have been past due otherwise. May 25, 2016 1.0 Looking for an all-in-one software solution to increase company productivity and integration from estimating through accounting to management? After 8 months of use, we are too. While Viewpoint may intrigue their potential victims with swanky vendor booths and ornate product demos - consider yourself warned. Similar to the caution on your truck side mirror indicates, product in use is much worse than it appears. Does your firm rely on custom forms that have been specifically tailored to suite your specific needs over the years? Unless your team of "builders", as opposed to "programmers", is familiar with coding in SQL databases, you can either (a) kiss them goodbye or (b) be prepared to spend a fair amount to have Viewpoint's coders build them for you. And don't get me started on this platform's user interface. Platform is as intuitive as a NYC subway map written in Mandarin. Need assistance? Of course you will, so be prepared to spend an exorbitant amount of overhead viewing "webinars" as in-person training is not part of the subscription. Estimating module - maddeningly slow. Stick with Excel, unless your estimators need practice turning in bids late. In summary, terrible product. I'm embarrassed to have been sold on, then later introduced, such a convoluted platform to an otherwise well-organized machine. Look elsewhere. Review Source MW Michelle W. The Dashboard Feature in Financial is very helpful Cons Too many steps to achieve certain reports. Certain reports are unavailable when it comes to payroll quarterly's. Drill down features are not available in Accounts Payable. Sales Tax Reports are not set up like needed for General Contractors. Review Source Cosby M. Drill downs, contractor required forms. No problem. Total lie. Saw examples of our contractor required forms, but never once was told yes, you can have them, but we have to write the report and you have to pay extra. Cons Lack of accounting updates. There are enhancements requests on their website that have been there for 1 year with lots of votes, but the only enhancements coming out are for their estimating module. Review Source AA Arthur A. Pros I like the integrating between estimating, project management, and accounting. It makes for a streamline project from start to finish. Cons Some actions and be cumbersome and layout isn't ideal. The people at Maxwell and now Viewpoint seem to be genuinely interested in how we use ProContractor and how it works for us. Cons 1 - We haven't come up with a way to handle construction management projects that does what we want. 2 - Support isn't able to supply patches for issues. We are faced with doing an upgrade, which takes several hours of work, in order to get a change to a couple reports that don't show committed cost correctly. 3 - We tend to have issues where something doesn't work, then if you try again it works. It cost me a year of my life and I'm still trying to untangle myself from them. Cons Everything. They claim their system is an all-in-one solution for construction companies, but the only thing that half works is the accounting module. Everything else is absolutely awful. August 29, 2017 2.0 the same benefits we got from out last (and preferred) software: American Contractor Pros I like the certified payroll reports and that you can reprint invoices. Using widgets is helpful. I like that is has direct deposit for payroll. Cons It is not easy to use. There are 'hidden' elements of the software that you have to click boxes to reveal. It is extremely functional with the ease of navigation of being able to keep multiple tabs open whether you are researching your equipment, answering a question on a job, or making a quick note in a personnel file. Cons The biggest problem I have, and continue to have, is the poor support. For our company, we are 3-4M gross revenue size and a hefting out a lot of money annually for support was a commitment. Unfortunately, when contacting support you leave messages, and it can be weeks before you get an answer to your problem. Also, once we purchased the software, the training and implementation was very sketchy and we did not get all modules trained. It's been 2 years and they still have not been able to get us scheduled back in, and now they are asking for more money to pay for the training. Review Source PL Pam L. CEO Construction Used the software for: ### "Is Viewpoint out of Business??" April 27, 2017 1.0 Beware if you work with this company. We purchased the product and were so excited about it's capabilities. Unfortunately, we came to a point where we needed to integrate AR from another critical program to our business. Viewpoint could not (or would not) allow this, so we mutually agreed to part ways. We had not even gotten past working with their "demo" when we uninstalled and terminated all installations of the product. We were promised contact from their "Account Advocacy" group to resolve the matter of a refund. We were willing to pay for any and all expenses incurred by Viewpoint but that was over 8 weeks ago. Now, every contact we had on our "Coordination" and "Implementation" teams are no longer with the company, no one will return our calls, or emails and we have had to seek legal counsel to move forward. Very disappointing outcome from what appeared to be a reputable company. Pros Appeared to be great - never got to try it. Were really looking forward to using it. Now will never know. Cons Unprofessional response by management and staff - buyer beware - you are not dealing with a reputable company.
