Now users can query the cubes thru XLCubed for that source of truth, reducing the risk of a user working from outdated Excel workbooks. Pros We have found that because XLCubed is an Excel add-in which allows for a direct connection to the live data in our cubes, our Excel users feel empowered by the ability to create their own reports for Analysis and presentation. And, because XLCubed is intuitive, the learning curve is short. This allows reporting across 2 key areas. 1. General Ledger for financial statements 2. Inventory, which allows reporting of sales by item, category, salesperson, customer... inventory balances The solution is deployed via a web browser with security filtering by dimension. This allows users at branches around Australia to access timely an accurate reports - showing just the data they are allowed to view Pros I have found XLCubed to be well suited to most organisation sizes. While we implement against Microsoft Dynamics we have also successfully used XLCubed against all types of data. This includes hospitals, manufactures, distributors and financial services providers. Using XLCubed then can create much performant queries and much better reports, but they still can use Excel. Pros the great combination of all Excel features are excellent extended by connectivity to SSAS (and also relational sources). Because the Excel Pivot Tables create terrible inperformant queries. Integration off Hichert SUCCESS Rules for graphical Presentation of business data. Cons In the past it was sometimes a bit buggy. But I use it since 2005 and it became better and better. Some learning could be required. I have seen projects, where other software was selected, with less features, but easier to use.
