### "A Reliable Way to Store and Access Photos!"

December 10, 2025

4.0

I’ve had a pretty good experience overall using Google Photos. It makes storing, organizing, and finding my pictures so easy, and I love being able to access them from any device. Overall, it’s been a huge time-saver and really reliable for keeping all my memories in one place.

Pros

I really like Google Photos because it makes organizing and finding my pictures super easy. The automatic backup and smart search features save a ton of time, and I love that I can access all my photos from any device whenever I need them.

Cons

One thing I don’t love about Google Photos is that it can sometimes be tricky to organize large albums exactly how you want. Also, the free storage limits can be frustrating if you have a lot of high-resolution photos.

### "Excellent and has potential! "

October 4, 2025

5.0

I use it often to send photos to my grandmothers Google hub. I think with extra capital pieces from the Google portfolio, it’s very useful!

Pros

I love the automated slide shows that the app puts together from a culmination of what I have to Google photos. I also love the ease of sharing.

Cons

That it doesn’t have a robust photo editing tool build onto the app. I feel like this is a missed opportunity and would be awesome to have something with lots of features and editing tools built in.

I had to make the switch for my job. I honestly prefer Lightroom to Google photos by far.

### "Decent Photo Storage Option, Not Fancy"

April 20, 2026

4.0

Pros

Google Photos is a good option for photo storage if you want to back up photos to an account rather than storing it on a device. It offers that ability to view photos on multiple devices and has the option to automatically back up all photos taken with a device. The photo editing abilities are similar to the editing power of a typical phone's built-in photo editor, but the AI tools in Google photos are fun to play with.

Cons

The free storage runs out quickly for frequent or long-term use. The paid storage options are fairly reasonably priced, but you will be paying to store your pictures as long as you want to keep them in Google photos. Also, sometimes the synchronization between the phone's camera system storage and Google photos is difficult to set up and maintain. Photos I delete in my phone's storage typically stay in Google photos, so I have to delete them twice.

### "Not the best"

February 24, 2026

2.0

Not great. I've been using the app for a few years, and with every update I had issues with archiving.

Pros

Organizing pictures is easy. Finding them is easy. Archiving pictures is not always easy. I can't think of anything else positive.

Cons

Archiving some photos is confusing. And very frustrating! Every update seems to make it trickier. I'd like to be able to control the order of albums.

### "Useful But Outdated and Limited"

February 14, 2025

3.0

It's useful and mostly functional but feels outdated and limited in it's application.

Pros

Convenient organization and storage, it has a decent amount of storage for free and it's inexpensive if you want to add more. I like the search and Lens features available.

Cons

It lacks deeper photo editing features like adding text and touch-ups. For being one of the biggest tech companies in the world, you would think they would have more to offer. Even after paying for an upgraded service, it's still very lacking. I would like to see the album sidebar be able to be expanded as well.

### "Google photos is awesome for individuals and families, just ok for businesses"

July 7, 2025

3.0

Overall the experience was okay. I run a construction company and we document each job throughout the build process. Google photos allowed us to store all our stuff in the cloud, but left a little to be desired on how things were labeled, stored and categorized.

Pros

The user interface is very nice. Batch uploading was very simple. I also like how it plays nicely with other Google business suite tools.

Cons

Organizing pictures into different folders and then subsequently being able to quickly return to those folders was not as smooth as other competitors.

### "Google photos.. facial recognition is amazing!!"

October 25, 2024

5.0

I would rate my experience with Google Photos as a 10 out of 10. It surpasses all of the other photo apps that I've ever used, and I just love the facial identification feature.

Pros

I utilize Google Photos on a consistent basis, at least 3 to 4 times per week. My favorite thing about Google Photos is that it recognizes the subject in the Picture and anyone with that same face comes up in your photos when you use the search engine. It does not matter if it's when the person was a baby or up-to-date like as an adult, it will include all the photos with that same person in it. Also, for example, if you put in the word waterfalls, every picture in your Google Photos will come up that has a waterfall of any kind in it. The same goes with any other type of scenery, mountains, streetlight, even weather condition such as snow. This is such an awesome advantage over all of the other photo apps that I have downloaded over the years. Hands down my favorite feature on google photos.

Cons

Google Photos does tend up to take up a lot of space on your phone so if you don't have a lot of memories then make sure to download it to your laptop or PC as well.

### "Why you still don't have Google Photos ? "

June 16, 2022

5.0

I love google photos a lot. Easy to use, safe and secure. It is like your life summary. I like to spend time there scrolling up and down wathing all my photos from different years for hours. It is like my digital photo album.

Pros

Google photos is the app I love! Simply, because all my photos from years are securely stored there. Since 2016, all my life is there. This is an excellent photo and video storage app, private, secure. I gather all my photos there and if I need to shate them, I create a folder with specific photos and add the recipient's email address, they get an email with the link, click and access to the photos shared with them. Deleted files can be restored if you changed your mind and want to keep them. You get amazing suggestions daily, it can be as a collage, or story with random photos selected. You see them only, not shared with anyone. Another great function - when you want to search for the dress in the photo for example, there is an icon you press on it and it brings you the search result from Google. Image search on Google is great. There was a plant I didn't know the name, I took a photo and from Google photos did an image search, got the name of that plant.

Cons

I do not like when I run out of storage. This happens regularly, I do not want to pay for additional storage, instead, I use different email addresses. Each new email address yoy use in Google photos offers 15 GB storage.

Switched from

[iCloud](https://www.capterra.com/p/204717/iCloud/)

Google photos has a more dynamic interface, modern outlook. Way easier to handle. iCloud is too complicated, I always see half the photos.

### "My review of Google Photos"

November 1, 2022

5.0

Overall, I have really enjoyed using it. I tell other people to use Google programs such as Google photos when I hear them talking about photo storage.

Pros

What I like most is how secure my photos are, and the fact that it sink soap with everything else that I use on the Google suite. Accessibility is still very easy for me but very hard for others to get into. And I can still transfer photos without too much hassle.

Cons

There’s honestly not anything that I don’t like about Google Photos. I have tried several other avenues in the past to back up photos and this is by far my favorite. Have not found a feature that I don’t like yet. I’m not saying it’s completely perfect because there’s always room for improvement. But right now it’s suits all of my needs. Now that I’m thinking about it would it be possible to sync google photos with Canva?

Switched from

I tried shutter stock and it really wasn’t anything wrong with it. I just like Google photos a little better and that’s what I’m used to using so I stayed with that.

### "The best photo organizing app for the average smartphone owner"

September 8, 2024

5.0

I've been using Google Photos for over five years and chose this software after a very deliberate search for the right software to invest my time into when I set out to do a comprehensive photo organization project (including digitizing hundreds of old family photo prints from the 80s and 90s). Google was the winner of this search for me, and I can honestly say I've never regretted it or doubted that I made the right choice. For who I am -- a regular guy with a smart phone and thousands of photos that I want to be able to re-access with some amount of ease without investing copious hours that I don't have in tagging and editing metadata for each photo, Google Photos is the right product for me. As I mentioned in the "Pros" section -- it's all about the machine learning technology that this app has built in.

Pros

1\. Machine learning & AI - this is probably the single feature that is most important to me in this app. This is technology that is built into the application that allows Google to recognize specific people and specific places and objects. The significance is that it makes photo re-discovery incredibly easy -- which is a big deal in the age of smartphones when we all have thousands upon thousands of photos just sitting in the cloud. This is the technology that allows me to remember a photo or memory in my head, and then allows me to find it in less than 30 seconds just by typing into the search bar: "Terry baseball game" or "Willow Bluey birthday cake" 2. Awesome 'stories' style feature at the very top of the app -- puts curated memories in front of you every time you open the app. Brings you small moments of joy seeing photos you haven't seen or thought about in years. 3. Great editing features -- everything you need and would expect, and easy to use. 4. Social-style photo album sharing - I have family members that want to see pics of my kid, but I don't want to put them on facebook. I have a family photo album that I can share pics to my loved ones and they can easily comment on them.

Cons

I can't think of anything that I have experienced. I do have a persistent fear of Google's AI CSAM (child sex abuse material) filter incorrectly flagging a photo of my child as evidence of a crime when it's not. In case you're not aware of what I'm referring to, read this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/21/technology/google-surveillance-toddler-photo.html. Ever since I became aware of the Big Brother AI eye lurking behind the scenes of every photo I take, and the risk that my entire 20-year Google account history could be unplugged and lost forever, I've noticed that this changes my behavior while considering taking a photo in a way that I don't like. To be clear -- I support AI CSAM filtering technology and support tech companies policing their users and making referrals to law enforcement agencies. I just am troubled by the experiences that some families have had in which there was not enough common-sense human adjudication in cases where the technology was making a referral where no crime was being committed.

### "Best software to protect your visual data."

September 12, 2022

5.0

Would recommend it to everyone as Google is the most trusted platform and will provide you the best service with the best security system. Just go for it guys you don't need to use this software also just keep the automatic backup on and everything will be done by the software for you.

Pros

The app is free of cost and this is the best thing about the app it has a storage of 15 GB approximately which is capable of storing lots of data. You can just switch on the automatic backup option in the app and your all photos and videos will get back up by themselves. You can access them back again whenever you want to. Nothing can be better then this.

Cons

Everything is great but I think the storage capacity should be improved by Google. As for a photogenic guy who clicks photos every day it doesn't take much time to get your storage full. The app fully works on the Internet connection and it will not work offline this is something which Google need to work on making it compatible when a device is offline too.

### "Good Free Software"

August 26, 2022

5.0

It is easy to use. I can fill out property management reports with the photos I have there. But it is not good for making saleable stock images.

Pros

It is easy to use if all you want to do is take and share low- to medium- quality photos. It automatically backs up everything, so you can find it immediately on your other devices. the photo editor is easy to use and has good custom filters, cropping and rotation to apply quick fixes.

Cons

Unfortunately, when you start working with big photos it becomes a problem. It would be nice if it did not automatically backup those, since I was planning to store them somewhere else anyway. Any edits revert the photo to the lower quality small size, so the photo editor becomes useless. It is difficult to go back a few years and delete photos that you no longer need, and you will exceed your storage quota.

### "Most Required App For Our Memories ❤️ !!!"

September 8, 2022

Fantastic !!!

Pros

\- Backup our photos in a secured way and access from anywhere and any device. - Provides backup with compressed format without losing quality - Sharing with our friends & family easily and effectively( No more bulk photos sending to everyone). - Easy to find a photo from our gallery with keywords. - Mandatory app for those who wants to keep their memories with them forever.

Cons

\- Initially they provided these services with unlimited storage quota. But now, they restricted to account storage limit. Thus enable us to have photos within the limit. They may increase free usage quota from 15GB to some extra storage like 50GB. (Will be helpful for those who requires more storage)
