Pros What I like most about SurveyMonkey is all the surveys I'm able do through this platform for other services. It's really easy to use and I'm actually able to complete the survey from start to finish once I've started it. Cons The cons of SurveyMonkey is that when I created a survey on their platform I didn't get anyone to actually take the survey. September 29, 2021 5.0 It was overall pleasant and easy to use with amazing visuals for a survey builder software. I just shifted to google forms because survey monkey was rather expensive to subscribe to. Pros I think Survey Monkey software overall. The user interface is nice and smooth. The survey builder offers a plethora of amazing recommendations for building your survey. The responses are distrusted and collected very easily. Also once you have all the responses the reporting tools can help you break down all the responses in a fairly easy manner. It offers way more features than that but these are the elements that were particularly relevant to me. For example it can offer to build a Survey for you based on your needs, that of course is extremely convenient to have but I have never used that feature. Cons It is expensive. In fact the only reason I shifted to google forms, is because you can get a great deal of what Survey monkey offers for free. Cons The premium version of SurveyMonkey is quite expensive to deploy and maintain. another thing is that the free version has got very limited functionalities and allows very few questions and responses. Customer surveys are always a great idea, and SurveyMonkey makes collecting those data easy and very intuitive. Pros It's a great way to get customer opinions and ratings, but it can also bar used to reply quizzes and other types of questionnaires. I've used it when setting up teaching classes to determine what information a specific group would like to have presented on a day class. I have also used this as someone who set up a nonprofit to assist me in finding the most useful places to expand the benefits I could offer given limited resources. The information gathered I inputted into Excel and then added cost/analysis ratios and other work to complete the determination but SurveyMonkey was a fantastic first step in a very rural setting to locate pockets of need. Pros This program is flexible enough that it can be used for graduate students gathering data, professionals who need to obtain survey/poll information, or smaller groups or individuals who need a basic program to reach out for something as basic as options for a date for an upcoming meeting date for a local event. The information can be downloaded and inserted into major market spreadsheets for computation and analysis. Cons The program does allow for anonymity of people who respond to a specific survey but there is not an easy way to determine if the users are indeed unique and completing the questionnaire one time or several. It has neither been too exciting nor challenging either. All in all, it has been functional enough to deliver just what you need without fuss. Pros SurveyMonkey has one of the most responsive user interfaces I have ever encountered in a survey development tool. The workflow has been designed to make the process as simple as possible. This is certainly my preferred tool for conducting client pooling and feedback loops. Cons It is not quite suited for more data intensive surveys that require significant levels of sectional separation. Also, more reporting features and functions could be added to make the product more comprehensive. The annual plans are also relatively more expensive than their competition within the same product range. Finalky, threatening further feature loss without major price increases. This feels like someone abandon project from 2005, that is no longer investing in the company and trying to charge more for less. Pros We original went with SurveyMonkey based on price and ease of use. Both of those have changed over time. The web interface definitely looks very modern and clean. It’s work that is output from the interface (Surveys) look the same and is professional enough that it’s not a distraction, but is not keeping up with other products. Cons There is little to no help. The interface has had enough updating that it is very hard to keep backward capability. That means reoccurring surveys are very complex. While this interface looks modern it’s functions are very clunky and error prone. The overall quality of output has not improved one bit in the last several years and it is now lagging competition pretty severely in that department. It’s prcing keeps going up, and features that used to be in lower tiers keep moving up to higher tiers of subscriptions. It seem like the model is to not make the interface look nicer while not updating the product output. There also seems to be little concern for testing upgrades as they rarely work 100%. Combined with the increasing cost, the only value to our company right now is the legacy knowledge of how to work the system, and the past results which are still accessible. It's a great tool for any kind of user assessment. Pros My team has used survey monkey for a few years. It's fairly easy to use, has all the question types you would want, customizable etc. It works well on all device types and the analytics are straightforward and easy to use. Cons The design options and templates can be a bit hard to get setup well. Once they are configured, it's easy to use them for any number of surveys. Recently we have had trouble with some of the surveys loading slow. Support has been quick to respond, but has not solved the problem yet. Allows use of 'logic' a feature absent in a lot of other survey service providers, which helps in adjusting survey to the different choices of customers. 6. When the paid version expires, limits access to even the questionnaire and analytics that a person had made and distributed making it difficult at times to go and check previous data. Pros We use this software for many different things - internal and external constituent satisfaction surveys, research for new products and other areas where we want to collect anonymous information. The surveys are very simple and intuitive to set up and contain almost unlimited ways in which to pose questions and receive feedback. Reporting is very easy and you can 'slice and dice' the data in many different ways, set up filters, export to pdf and excel quickly and easily. You can also add your own branding to the surveys, home pages etc.. to make them more customized. I also like that you have the option to embed a link to the survey in your own communication or have the software send and track open rates for you. Cons We use this software quite extensively for an organization of our size (about 100 surveys every three months) and my only drawback is that it seems fairly difficult to organize and find old surveys. I also love that you can embed the first question in an email so that if they only click on the answer from email and don't finish the rest of the survey, you at least get that one. It increases the responses to your most important question and is great for super simple surveys where you just need a quick headcount of yeses and nos. Cons I guess our plan will only allow people from two different IP addresses to access the software so we are always having to boot someone if anyone but the primary people who use it needs access. I'm in the finance industry and, while I sometimes struggle with the name of the platform, I am a huge fan of the application's usefulness. Our target market is very narrow and we can build market profiles with a simple conversation but, on the next level - as a tool for our clients, we use it extensively. I come out of the political business and polling was a daily activity. SurveyMonkey gives businesses to have the same informational power in their hands, no matter how small they are. The key is in writing meaningful questions. I would always suggest doing some research first and using the free trial. That said, the free level is very small and the greater your mailing list, the more expensive it gets... but the more power you unpack in order to understand your market. My experience is fair and I have not run into too many problems with the email append. Pros I have been using Survey Monkey for years now and I like the easy and user friendly tools. It’s very easy to create questions and multiple choice and open ended questions. I also like the data collection after you submit the questions and collect data. Cons What I like least about SurveyMonkey is the template choices if you want to create a newsletter or flyer. I think they should have more up to date choices. Sometimes it hides some important information while doing surveys and other times snags are being caught that resulted in the improper implementation of surveys. It is also having the problem of creating duplicate entries. You cannot change font type, cannot export data in free version, doesn’t allow collaborations, limited survey responses, inability to include video or graphics into the survey, etc. are some of the other problems of this application. However for those looking to do actual data mining- I would go with a more sophisticated system like Qualtrics. Pros Survey Monkey is an easy platform to use. Many questions are already built into the program if you need them. The platform is user-friendly and allows for different formats of questions. It also allows you to add logic (ie: if they answer this, then go to that) formats. You can also add design elements so that you can brand it to your company. Sending out the surveys is also made simple, in that you can send a link, load a group into the program or a variety of other methods. Cons I have a problem with this software when it comes to analyzing my results. For one, I do not like the options they give you around exporting the data. I wish their was more customization around this. Especially when I have very specific data I want to compare, the .xls is formatted in a way that I have to go in and edit each individual question. I wish I could choose exactly the data I want to export so that I can easily develop my own graphs vs. having to rely on the survey monkey versions. I also wish their was an option to build out a .pdf of the data in a way that works for me. I would MUCH rather edit a .pdf as I am am building out my data story then have to go in an edit each individual question again. I just wish their were more ways to build out data vizualization pieces after the data is collected.
