Pros What has been so nice about the functionality of SurveyMonkey is that it can accommodate simple surveys, just as well as it can be used to capture some pretty elaborate response data from people. It's a very recognizable survey site, so whereas before, some people may have been concerned about spam and unwilling to click on to complete surveys, now I think it is so recognizable and ingrained in people that they are more willing to respond. I've been able to collect 2 question data on a large group of people and we also use the software to collect the more in depth 360 evaluations of leadership through the same software, so very multifunctional. I think over the years it has really grown in it's suggested questions bank and other formats you can use to get help building your survey, which is cool. Cons The thing I like the least is being limited to 10 questions in the free version. However, I understand that there must be limits to free accounts and it has forced me many times to make simpler, more to the point surveys to fit in that 10 question limit rather than potentially limiting responses from having too many questions. Pros The more I used SurveyMonkey the easier it was to use. When I got feedback from end-users and it was quickly presented and offered me analyzed information, not just responses. Having feedback from stakeholders and end-users is key in producing and monitoring and improving quality ideas and survey monkey is a great way to get that quickly. Others in my organization use it also and similar feedback from them is positive. It is a software I would recommend others try with the free trial period, they have nothing to lose and a lot of information to gain in rapid ways and can subscribe to gain further insight easier. Perfect for the times and culture in which we live. My job improves lives, and SurveyMonkey gives me feedback to know my innovative idea works. Cons It took me a little time due to my intrepidation of using a new product to start trying it. Once I did, I liked it. Pros You can pick SurveyMonkey up without a lot of questionnaire programming knowledge or experience and deploy surveys quickly and easily. User-friendly interface, but not everything is easy to navigate nor are the more advanced functions at your fingertips, you have to search for them. Pros SurveyMonkey has been my go-to software for distributing surveys for years now. Their Website is extremely easy to use and allows a free user to conduct a simple survey in a matter of minutes. However, I am not sure it is worth the money unless you are doing more sophisticated survey setups or data pulls that require the use of their customer support team. Pros I think the big pros of SurveyMonkey are the custom elements it allows you to choose and the 24/7 customer support. For example, you can create a URL that is more visually pleasing and will likely lead to more respondents, and a landing page that fits your brand. The customer support is also essential if you are doing a more complicated setup that requires randomization or A/B testing - they are very helpful and responsive. Cons Having additional crosstabs available in the data exports at the lower membership pricing tiers would be nice. Having just a data dump is not as helpful. Review Source DD Daniel D. Pros The possibility to get information from a large group of different people in an easy fashion way makes surveying really easy. SurveyMonkey works on many different devices and has many features (depends on the used version). It is easy to create a survey and there are a wide number of tools to configure and customize forms, even different languages. The links for the users are simple and easy to use. Cons If you use the free version, SurveyMonkey will offer you all the time to go to a subscription plan, and if you use the free version you cannot export survey responses to an excel sheet. Another minus is that they are charging for services, which are not used. If you have complex questions, there is no possibility to format them in the form. The logo appears on the surveys... Pros Survey Monkey is a very easy to useable deploy software. I use survey monkey constantly to build various post event surveys, participation surveys, interest surveys etc. and the way that Survey Monkey compiles data is so so so useful- the software will compile the data for you in various formats, PDFs and excel sheets, and you can have them compiled per question or per person, so it is very easy to read the data! Cons I wish Survey Monkey had a little more customization functions. I also wish there was a better way to do “smart” questions, where I could have conditional response questions, so that if you answer one way other questions will pop up. I was able to put together a very professional looking survey and deliver some nice-looking figures to my boss to help with a key business decision. Cons My only dislike is that I soon realized that I couldn't have ALL of the features I fancied unless I paid up. Of course the needs differ between users. It's an invaluable tool, if an imperfect one. Pros Just the simplicity of getting actual feedback from just about any size group about a wide range of topics, using a pretty huge array of question types is an amazing aid to decision making. The graphical reports of data are also a major time savings in many cases. Cons There are some statistical and data science bad habits that SurveyMonkey enshrines. For instance, the 1-2 coding of yes-no questions is kind of silly when the obvious way to handle it would be 0 for no and 1 for yes. We generally end up converting reports in Excel to show that. Also, the ambiguity in numeric exports of Likert scales as to which is the top end of the scale is a little annoying. Many times I have inadvertently built a question such that 5 turns out being worse than 1; it would help if SurveyMonkey kept me from making that mistake. Also, the constant use of average Likert scores has made people forget how statistically illegitimate that practice really is. You can't average categorical data meaningfully because a 1 isn't 1/5th as good as a 5. But that just goes to the naive use of what is a pretty powerful tool. Maybe SurveyMonkey should offer some guidance on how to use stats without deceiving people. Review Source Amber P. The basic plan is you pay what you get...it's very limited, but it was perfect us. As a small business who really only sends about 2-3 surveys a year, we don't need anything overwhelming or complex. It was very simple to us to set up and get using immediately. The response from patrons was quick and very easy to sort through the information. I’ve used this program in both college and the professional field. It translates easily in both worlds and just gets the job done. It’s simple to add questions and they make viewing the results a piece of cake. Cons This application does exactly what it’s made to do. Pros I liked how easy it was to set up and customize surveys. I could also see how the data looked coming in and pause the survey if changes needed. We used this both remotely as a link in a mass email and in person, handing subjects an iPad w the survey on it. Both worked well! Cons Downloading the data was less intuitive but still worked well.
