Great! The team is always so helpful and responsive, the website is easy to navigate and very useful.

Pros

Sparrow is so helpful with managing & processing payroll, easy to navigate, so helpful when processing EDD reports, and overall gives me so much ease. I've handled this process in previous roles and know how time consuming this process is, especially to give enough attention and assistance to each employee on LOA. Sparrow gives each employee assistance and support throughout the process and gives me back so much time to handle other tasks. Aside from this, Sparrow reps have been so helpful throughout the process by providing guidance, are straight to the point, and kind!

Cons

I've been using this platform now for about 10 months and have no concerns so far! Just a note, we do have periods where no employees are out on leave and we do receive a handful of Leave Payroll report emails, which may not be needed at the time to not waste the Leave Specialists time.

Sparrow's partnership has been integral to Medium's top-tier leave experience. Our employees consistently call out how easy sparrow makes it to navigate the complexities of their state policies combined with our company policies, and they trust sparrow to take care of the details so they can fully be away.

Pros

Sparrow is a well-rounded partnership. Leaves are easy to set up, they contact the employee directly, employees feel well supported through out, the cost per leave effectively pays for itself because of wage replacement savings, and the list goes on.

Cons

My only knock is that it can be difficult to know who to contact sometimes. Until I nudged the lead leave specialist, our "contact us" section of the platform was blank so it wasn't clear who to raise strategic partnership questions to. That said, once I said something it was fixed in a day and of course they were both receptive to the feedback and very responsive.

Our experience with Sparrow has exceeded our expectations and freed up time for the benefits department (of 1) to work on other projects while knowing that Sparrow has the Leave process covered for all states!

Pros

The stress-free process of knowing that our employees are being taken care of with concierge, knowledgeable service while ensuring the company is being covered on the compliance and regulatory fronts.

Perhaps have more access to call-ins with employees going out on leave or having questions rather than online option as the first line.

How easy the platform is to navigate! It's made things so much easier from an HR side! The emails we get with updates are also so helpful!

Pros

It makes processing leaves and ADA so much easier, reduces the admin headache. Make the employee experience a hundred times better.

Cons

I don't have any issues with Sparrow at this time. We had a little issue with the policy being brought over correctly, but once we brought it to Sparrow's attention, they handled it promptly.

Overall, we have been happy with Sparrow. We think that after we figure out a few kinks with how certain policies are applied and make sure the Sparrow team follows those policies, it will be smooth sailing! The customer service has been great and we are grateful that they can help our team members get every benefit they deserve while on leave.

Pros

The customer service for our team members in helping them apply for all of the paid leave they have available for them. In addition, the way that they respond quickly to any email and willingness to set up a meeting if needed on short notice.

Cons

There seems to be some discrepancies between our policy and how they are applied to staff. For the price we pay for each leave through Sparrow in addition to what we paid for our initial set up, they should be making sure that there are no discrepancies in pay for team members. However, when we did bring an issue to their attention, they made it right :)

We ended up not having Unum Leave Management as an option once we stopped providing disability insurance to all staff. We also loved the integration that Sparrow had with Paylocity.

We have a great Account Manager who is able to support us through email and monthly meetings. The team is knowledgeable and able to answer necessary questions. It has been smooth to utilize Sparrow with no issues and we plan to continue to use Sparrow in the future.

Pros

The company has a team assigned to them to assist in processing claims and answering questions. The team is extremely knowledgeable and assist from an employee and administrative perspective. Sparrow takes a lot of the admin work out for the employer.

Cons

Changes in leave dates can be communicated multiple times for the same change. It's nice to be aware, but receiving the same information multiple times seems unnecessary.

The Sparrow works well for the corporate employees. there should be a call center and an option of just putting personal email as not every employee has business email. Also there are no bilingual specialists

The platform is incredibly easy to use, particularly when it comes to initiating and closing out leaves. The payroll calendar is a complete game changer! Leaves have never been simpler or felt more secure than with Sparrow.

Pros

The customer support is top notch! Very communicative and friendly, makes things easy! Every representative I have worked with has been great :)

Cons

For parental leaves, both birthing and non-birthing, there were often situations where employees would go out on leave with a different date than listed in Sparrow. Confirming closer to their leave date would save some headaches!

While Sparrow has been an excellent partner overall, the area we liked least was the initial learning curve for some advanced features. That said, Sparrow’s customer support team was incredibly helpful, and once we got past the setup phase, the system has been smooth and efficient.

Experience has been great. We have made several process changes with our employees since implementing Sparrow including not frontloading funds when using Sparrow and being more aligned with what employees will or expected to get from the state. This has reduced our cost risk greatly.

Pros

They provide excellent support to employees and ourselves as the employer in understanding the leave process and each state requirements. Payroll plans have been a super helpful add to our process.

Cons

We ran into not being able to provide support when someone is returning on a part time basis in terms of support for payroll plans. Although they did get on a call with us and answered any questions they could to support us in getting this figured out. Which was helpful.

Overall the direction of the technology, customer service is positive and they are very on top of things. Even if we have a difficult and novel situation, they make time to work with us on things such as policy design or accommodate our unique policies.

Pros

Sparrow makes it easy for US and Canadian leaves (minus Quebec). User interface is easy to use, the graphs showing leave time and pay is easy to digest. Our rep is also very kind and knowledgable!

Cons

They do not currently support Quebec yet. Also, pricing is premium, but you also get a good experience with experienced SME's. Otherwise I don't really have any thing I don't like about the Sparrow.

Overall, my experience with Sparrow has been mostly positive. The platform is intuitive and does what it’s supposed to do, which makes benefits administration easier once everything is set up. We did have a few hiccups at the beginning, mainly due to delays in customer support responses, but once those were resolved, things ran much more smoothly.

Pros

What I liked most is the clean, user-friendly interface and how straightforward it is to manage benefits once you’re familiar with the system. The workflows are logical, and it integrates well into our existing processes. After onboarding, it’s been reliable and saves time compared to more manual approaches.

Cons

What I liked least was the initial customer support experience. Response times were slower than expected during setup, which caused some early friction and delays. Once we were past that phase, support improved.

Over my four months at Apollo it's been smooth sailing. I'm impressed with the level of service and the amount of information in the Sparrow platform. Keep up the good work!

Pros

\- The white-glove service! Sparrow makes things very low touch for most of the leave process. This takes a lot of heavy lifting off of our team. - Our CSM and support teams are top notch and respond very quickly. - The platform has all of the information we need to stay informed about employee leaves and leave updates.

Cons

\- I've had a great experience so far, so I can't think of anything off the top of my head! If that changes, I'll let you all know.

Pros

Managing state to state complexity of leaves. Having an expert manage and follow up on our team members leaves has been great! Saved us quite a bit of time this year.

Cons

There are sometimes miscommunications between Sparrow/Team Member/Ursa People Operations teams. Specifically about staying in touch about leave payments etc.

As a People Business Partner and Employee Relations Lead, managing and viewing leaves and accommodation requests is a significant piece of my role. Sparrow is responsive and their admin dashboard is stellar. Everything is visible, easy to navigate, and the team is super helpful. From what I hear from our employees, they also appreciate Sparrow's responsiveness and Customers First approach. This is a strong match for our business and core values.

Pros

I like the HRBP dashboard for leaves and accommodations. I really, really like their responsiveness in times of need!

Cons

Honestly, I have no cons to speak of! They've managed to help me navigate really tricky scenarios with ease and routine responsiveness.

Our overall experience with Sparrow has been outstanding. They operate as a true extension of our People Team, handling complex, state-specific leave laws with confidence and accuracy. Their payroll reports are extremely helpful for our Finance team, ensuring precise payments and eliminating payroll corrections due to over- or under-payment. Just as importantly, Sparrow provides employees with a safe, compassionate space to discuss their leave and any challenges they may be facing. Their expertise, responsiveness, and care make them a trusted and invaluable partner.

Pros

Sparrow has been an incredible partner to our employees, People, and Finance Teams. As a concierge leave-of-absence service, they make what can often be a stressful and complex process feel seamless and manageable. Our employees consistently share how easy Sparrow is to work with, how responsive their team is, and how supported they feel throughout their leave. Sparrow expertly navigates state-specific leave requirements and removes administrative friction for employees, allowing them to focus on their well-being rather than paperwork. As a lean People Team, Sparrow saves us a significant amount of time and energy, enabling us to focus on broader company initiatives.

Cons

Honestly, I can’t think of any meaningful downsides. The only “con” is that I wish we had discovered Sparrow sooner.

Sparrow has been great! Super easy to work with. I have gained a lot of insight from our team in just 1 year of service and I feel much more confident in managing LOA.

Pros

How knowledgable the team is. It is very challenging to keep up with all the different state's rules and regulations.

Cons

Teh communication channel. Although I have a biweekly stand up with my team, there is no way to get a hold of a Sparrow rep in an emergency situation other than email. There have been times where I needed a response on teh spot and have had to wait for email response. i wish there was a faster way to connect on an ADHOC basis.

Overall, I have been very happy with Sparrow since joining nearly two years ago. As more and more states come online with paid leave programs, they will become an even more integral part of our business.

Pros

Easy intake system, good communication, ability to help us navigate the complex world of state leave policies.

Cons

We are a unique company, and Sparrow has struggled at times to interpret our unique situation, particularly when there's a new Sparrow representative handling the leave.

Great experience overall. Again not giving 5 stars as there’s been a couple instances where the staff had a less than desirable experience due to different factors.

Pros

Ease of use and transparency about where each leave stands. Platform is great and easy to use. Setup was a breeze as well.

Cons

Sometimes challenges with payments and follow up needed. Although it’s not sparrows fault, I feel at times sparrow team could have been more proactive.

Sparrow is wonderful to work with and I would recommend them if you are looking to simplify your leave process.

Pros

Sparrow is great! All of their Leave Specialists are incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. They make each leave process seamless and have been a great partner. They are able to administer leaves in every state so I don't have to do the heavy lifting to see who is eligible for what depending on the state they reside. They are able to submit state claims on the employee's behalf which is use. They have made the payroll side of things a breeze as well.

Cons

It doesn't integrate with our PEO which would be awesome if they did, but it isn't really that big of a con for us.
