It was very easy to implement using Rippling report. Pros That they are fully hands on, they handle all communication, work directly with the employees and explain everything. Cons Sometimes the payroll is off which isn't a great experience for the payroll team or the employee. Our payroll team is capturing some of the issues. They've had their growing pains, but its encouraging for me to see how they've reacted to and grown from past challenges. It's difficult to imagine dealing with the complexities of multi-state leave of absence administration for a diverse workforce without Sparrow. Pros Sparrow has a number of assets, chief amongst them is their customer care. Their team is happy to schedule regular meetings of any cadence and they provide copious email updates to all relevant stakeholders in any given leave occurrence. They are also good at maintaining open communication with the employees, guiding them on the LOA process and acting as a liaison for the company. Payroll coordination is also a strength for Sparrow as they provide on demand reports that allow payroll teams to coordinate pay across various stages of a leave. The employer dashboard is always evolving and continues to become easier to navigate with each update. They are also good at soliciting feedback to incorporate into their UI updates. Cons Individual leaves can be expensive. This isn't necessarily an issue with Sparrow, but rather a byproduct of the complexity of the LOA administration environment. Companies considering Sparrow should consider the cost-benefit analysis of the complexity of their anticipated leaves and their operating margins when choosing to use a leave of absence administrator. I could not have done my job fully without their help. Pros EVERYTHING. It is worth the freedom of being able to focus on other things. Without Sparrow, we would have had to bring on 2 people just to manage leaves. Cons The price. In comparison to other systems/services, it was a bit more pricey. I am unsure if they have specific packages to offset some of the pricing, but we were paying as you go. RE Reviewer People Partner Used the software for: 1-3 years ### "Excellent Leave Administration Partner" 5.0 Overall Rating 5.0 5.0 Ease of Use 5.0 5.0 Features 4.0 4.0 Customer Service 5.0 5.0 Likelihood to Recommend 10/10 August 7, 2026 I've been doing leave administration for my entire HR career and it's a PAIN and I'm so happy to have Sparrow there to be an adviser and handle the entire process start to finish with our employees. They're attentive to our needs as they come up, and our employees have positive feedback about their expereince. Pros The sparrow team is really responsive. We've had issues where it could take up to 4 days for a leave specialist to respond to one of our employees which can be an issue, but they are immediately responsive to our HR team. Cons I have to follow up with the leave specialists on things that I would hope that they would be proactive about. For example, a new entitlement that the employee is suddenly eligible for during their leave where the employee has to explicitly ask about it. Pros that they handle all the leave requirement for someone's leave, the portal is easy to use and navigate and support is very responsive. Cons don't really have anything negative to say at this time. The only thing we have run into at this time are small discrepancies on payroll when someone wants to supplement some sick time as there is a difference in how they calculate vs. how our HRIS/Payroll system works when there is regular time also being paid in that period. I appreciate the level of service we get for our team and the help they provide us when we are navigating challenges. Pros The team is great at navigating complex problems. We are able to really not think to hard about our leaves and really only need to focus on the most complex issues. Tracking and Data reporting is possible now. Pros 1\. Customer Support, Leave Management, the fact that when you raise a concern to the Sparrow team about how you would like your LOA's to be handled - it is IMMEDIATELY implemented across ALL leave specialists. 2, The new Dashboard 3. Report feature.. Cons 1\. While I love the constant communication from the leave specialists - It is a lot of emails. It would be helpful if each LOA housed a running LOG of those conversations and the HR Team member would receive a notification that they have an update on an LOA - go to the Dashboard to that LOA see the update and respond. This way HR needs to pull history - for litigation or separation - or another HR member needs the history - everything is in one place. 2. All the leave specialists provide exceptional service, and I know we can email the general sparrow email with a question or concern. Our employees no longer have to sit on the phone with the EDD for hours to get answers to basic questions related to their leaves, and they can focus on the reason for their leave. Cons Sometimes the communication between HR and Sparrow can be a little redundant or require a lot of back and forth, but we've been able to calibrate that pretty well and its generally not a problem. Our employees consistently call out how easy sparrow makes it to navigate the complexities of their state policies combined with our company policies, and they trust sparrow to take care of the details so they can fully be away. Pros Sparrow is a well-rounded partnership. Leaves are easy to set up, they contact the employee directly, employees feel well supported through out, the cost per leave effectively pays for itself because of wage replacement savings, and the list goes on. Cons My only knock is that it can be difficult to know who to contact sometimes. Until I nudged the lead leave specialist, our "contact us" section of the platform was blank so it wasn't clear who to raise strategic partnership questions to. That said, once I said something it was fixed in a day and of course they were both receptive to the feedback and very responsive. The team is always so helpful and responsive, the website is easy to navigate and very useful. Pros Sparrow is so helpful with managing & processing payroll, easy to navigate, so helpful when processing EDD reports, and overall gives me so much ease. I've handled this process in previous roles and know how time consuming this process is, especially to give enough attention and assistance to each employee on LOA. Sparrow gives each employee assistance and support throughout the process and gives me back so much time to handle other tasks. Aside from this, Sparrow reps have been so helpful throughout the process by providing guidance, are straight to the point, and kind! Cons I've been using this platform now for about 10 months and have no concerns so far! Just a note, we do have periods where no employees are out on leave and we do receive a handful of Leave Payroll report emails, which may not be needed at the time to not waste the Leave Specialists time.
