Postmark Reviews
Pros
But when it comes to deliverability, it's another story. The support at postmark is super friendly, fast and helpful.
The deliverability is overall better than most providers and far superior to any shared host we tried. Their approach to separate marketing and transactional email flows is smart in that matter.
Postmark has very helpful documentation to explain all their services and it's easy to get started with their guides that help you transfer over from other popular mail services.
What I like most about this software is the ease of use, options are straightforward and easy to understand. The search tool is powerful and quick as well.
Cons
Pricing was a concern at first but well. If we have to pay for a 3rd party provider to deliver our e-mails, we'd rather spend a bit more and have e-mails inboxed rather than discarded or sent to spam.
I was having trouble with ALL my emails getting through, including crucial messages to new customers, so I was right away starting off on a bad note with new users. That is now a thing of the past.
There was a problem with one site in my account that was sending a lot of spam, and instead of giving a warning, they suspended my account right away.
I contacted them and they contacted me the next day, but if I had major accounts depending on Postmark, this would have been a serious problem.
"It just works"
Overall: We primarily use Postmark to send out login information, alerts, notifications, and reports from our applications. We do not send a ton of emails out monthly, but we do send thousands a month. If they don't reach our client, that is bad for us. We were able to use industry standard packages to send through Postmark, so it was not difficult to integrate into our applications. We have a couple of cloud applications that we built from the ground up. We tried SendGrid and Mailgun and why both worked, it was more complex and really did not help if messages did not go through. With Postmark it is very quick to see what happened and why.
Pros: In-depth tracking allows me to see why something might have not worked Never gets blacklisted Walks you through the setup Easy to integrate for both simple and complex use
Cons: Cost is a little higher than others, but not too much.
"Simple but effective email client"
Overall: Postmark has improved both the look and deliverability of transactional emails in my business, and it's also simplified our email workflows and made it easier for us to analyse and resolve any issues.
Pros: It's really easy to build, sort, and manage your emails in Postmark. You can sort your emails into different servers, each one of which can be split into streams: broadcast and transactional are the main two, which allow you to find specific types of emails easily. Open and link tracking can also be switched on by server, so you have more control over what data you're collecting which helps with GDPR compliance. You can click into each email to see the email body itself and copy any links that have been generated. I can share my account securely with other email addresses, allowing different people within my business to review and have access to our email tools. The API is very easy to understand, allowing you to connect Postmark to other tools easily. There are so many benefits to Postmark!
Cons: The documentation feels a little fragmented - some things are in the official API documentation, while other things missing from the official documentation are included in blog posts or other posts within the Support Center. It would be great if they could all be in one place!
"Gets the job done"
Pros: 1: The ability to see overall data, or to refine down to just one email 2: The ability to create customized tags to filter through your thousands of emails 3: The ability to open and download a sent email into a zipfile.
Cons: 1: If an email hard bounces it will deactivate all other emails being sent to this address, and there is no easy way to receive alerts on that. 2: The system bases the sending of emails not in the time zone the user received it.
Vendor Response
"Best customer service for an email service"
Pros: They have the best customer service for email services, I've tried 4 including sendgrid, they're the best with customer service.
Cons: I can't think of a thing, I have not used postmark for long enough
"Our goto 3rd party SMTP provider"
Overall: Pricing was a concern at first but well... If we have to pay for a 3rd party provider to deliver our e-mails, we'd rather spend a bit more and have e-mails inboxed rather than discarded or sent to spam. Plus, if you run in any issue, Postmark support usually answers warmly under 24 hours... where the competition usually takes either forever or/and a very cold and super technical approach making you feel like an idiot.
Pros: E-mailing seems simple on the surface. But when it comes to deliverability, it's another story... The support at postmark is super friendly, fast and helpful. And that's well worth the price you pay. The deliverability is overall better than most providers and far superior to any shared host we tried. Their approach to separate marketing and transactional email flows is smart in that matter. You can connect your email flow either through their API... or the old school SMTP, which enables you to send through any software on the market that supports an external integration.
Cons: Honestly, nothing. At some point, they added marketing emails in addition to their core service which is transactional emails. I was a bit frustrated : most SMTP integrations wouldn't work with their initial implementation of marketing emails, as it required to send custom headers along the e-mail. But they took the feedback and a few months later, a workaround was implemented. I can say that this company really has customer satisfaction at heart.
