I ended up moving to software more specific to my industry but would def use Square again in the future if needed. Pros Square invoices is easy to set up and use. It has seamless payment processing that allows customers to easily pay for services. The invoices are highly customizable and I enjoyed the detailed graphs and financial reports. Cons When customers got their invoice through email there was a prominent button to "pay now" by credit card. Because of this, most of my clients paid by credit card instead of my preferred option which was e-transfer. I think that especially in tough economic times, you need to do everything possible to help customers pay, giving them as many options as possible. Also crucial for sending invoices with payment links to my foreign customers. Pros Square is fantastic for small businesses cost wise but also because of how easy it is to use it, also from your phone. Very intuitive and thanks to it I can offer so many more payment options! I use it mostly for my foreign customers and I never had any issues with it. Cons Sometimes I am not sure if I’ve done something correctly but that might just because it is not my main invoice software. February 15, 2022 3.0 Overall, its a good program/app for small business owners, and mini entrepreneurs. BUT there are too many hiccups from the start, and once you have your account setup and integrated into your business, you want everything to go smoothly, you dont want to lose hours, even days trying to submit all the required documents square asks for before taking any holds off your account,etc.... Pros What I liked most about the software was, the ease of the point of sale oh, it makes it very convenient and easy for small business owners to complete sales or transactions, and the square banking is a great option to use. Cons From the very beginning when I made my first point-of-sale transaction I had five small transactions the first day and immediately all my deposits and transfer were put on hold do you ask for invoicing in business information and documentation, all of that should have been done at the very beginning with a person opens the account oh, it's just a big hassle once you got it up and integrated into your business and then you start making transactions and the whole thing is put on hold. We don't require intense customization so the product as it is works great for us. Pros Easy to view everything from metrics to aging in the Dashboard. We can see when a customer views the invoice - set payment terms and downpayments - attach messages and documents to clearly explain parameters of deposits and information the customer needs. Square has very clear reporting capability as well for aging invoices for users functioning with net 30, 60, 90 etc. Tipping can be turned on or off - and there are a lot of payment options and things to tweak. All of the data is very visible Cons Of course there are tiers - I do think that since a processor is receiving a fee - the Invoices Plus functionality would be great to include for everyone. Pros I love the simplicity of having everything for my business in one place. Being able to quickly pull up previous invoices and duplicate the info for the next order is great. Cons The only change I'd make is in adding items to the invoice from our item library. It would be great to be able to select multiple items at a time, especially when it is multiple variations of the same item. The main downside is the fees, but overall it is a solid and reliable option. Pros Very easy to use and set up. A lot of people like Square because you can start taking payments pretty quickly. Good all-in-one system. You can take in-person payments, send invoices, sell online, and track basic business info in one place. It's easy to use, and I like that I can store previous customer information and reuse it without having to re-enter everything. What I really like is that customers can pay by credit card when they prefer that option. Cons The only downside is the high processing fee. We either have to pass the cost on to the customer or absorb it ourselves. Other than that, I don't really have any complaints. I can item details and customers can pay with preferred credit card. Pros Its easy to use and allows me create a simple invoice for local orders. Customers can pay with major credit cards and platform is overall reliable. Cons The fees can seem pretty high especially if the order total is high. To compensate, i have to charge my customers a small fee if they want to use a credit cars instrad if cash. Cons What I like least about this software is its reporting. It is very minimal and not accurate. It is nearly impossible to a report for specific days and get correct totals. It should be as easy as "how much money did we make yesterday" but Square Invoicing does not have the feature. I like how professional the invoices look. It’s definitely an important part of my business. Cons My only complaint is that it doesn’t allow me to print an invoice to use as a packing slip. Eliminates the need to collect credit card numbers from clients and enter in payments manually. Much more secure and clients seem to like it too. Cons Clients can store their billing information for future purchases. However, there's no way for them to apply a gratuity for bills automatically paid in this way. Love that the invoicing allows you to set dates finances are due, the analytics are seamless, and it tracks customers emails for you allowing you the added bonus and ability to reach out to customers if you wish. Love this Software! Cons All credit information is keyed in by customer - resulting in higher fee's. If you do find an error with the invoice, any changes are automatically emailed to the customer. I feel this could be annoying to customers receiving multiple unnecessary emails. There should be an option to prevent this from being automatically sent. Review Source ES Emily S. Cons Not always as flexible as I would like but it is getting better in that area too. Sometimes it is not obvious to the client that receives the emailed invoice template, where to click to enter credit card payments.
