I ended up moving to software more specific to my industry but would def use Square again in the future if needed. Pros Square invoices is easy to set up and use. It has seamless payment processing that allows customers to easily pay for services. The invoices are highly customizable and I enjoyed the detailed graphs and financial reports. Cons When customers got their invoice through email there was a prominent button to "pay now" by credit card. Because of this, most of my clients paid by credit card instead of my preferred option which was e-transfer. I think that especially in tough economic times, you need to do everything possible to help customers pay, giving them as many options as possible. Also crucial for sending invoices with payment links to my foreign customers. Pros Square is fantastic for small businesses cost wise but also because of how easy it is to use it, also from your phone. Very intuitive and thanks to it I can offer so many more payment options! I use it mostly for my foreign customers and I never had any issues with it. Cons Sometimes I am not sure if I’ve done something correctly but that might just because it is not my main invoice software. Alternatives considered [SumUp](https://www.capterra.com/p/170673/SumUp-Air/) Reason for choosing Square Invoices Because it was offering me option without any payment terminal, especially that very soon after I started I could accept payments using my phone. May 22, 2026 5.0 I love using Square Invoices and it makes my life easier as a seller and it puts my mind as ease to know that it's a secure platform. Pros Square Invoices is a great app to use if you are a small business! It's great at local events that I table at and want an easy way for someone to purchase by credit card other than being cash only. Cons Sometimes when a payment comes through, it can take a second to go through/confirm a receipt. But typically it is an instant payment transfer and I can know that my sales are accurate! The system has an app where you can do invoices and send it trough sms from your phone. I would say that it is more for small business to use. Cons Security wise, it’s not really safe to use. I got scammers a few times sending me a fake invoice and customer service is not that great to resolve this problem, they can’t control or block fake accounts. Review Source DR Deklan R. We don't require intense customization so the product as it is works great for us. Pros Easy to view everything from metrics to aging in the Dashboard. We can see when a customer views the invoice - set payment terms and downpayments - attach messages and documents to clearly explain parameters of deposits and information the customer needs. Square has very clear reporting capability as well for aging invoices for users functioning with net 30, 60, 90 etc. Tipping can be turned on or off - and there are a lot of payment options and things to tweak. All of the data is very visible Cons Of course there are tiers - I do think that since a processor is receiving a fee - the Invoices Plus functionality would be great to include for everyone. There are plenty of payment options to offer your customers, from your credit and debit card to ACH deposit saving you some money on processing fees. Using templates for different services offered to help streamline your workflow is a favorite of mine. Pros I love the simpicity and ease of use of Square Invoices. The amount of features that are baked into the invoices is a nice touch giving you a professional feel at a free to minimal price point. Cons The only thing I wish for is slightly more customization (custom colors to flow with branding) to e able to add to my invoices. Cons The only change I'd make is in adding items to the invoice from our item library. It would be great to be able to select multiple items at a time, especially when it is multiple variations of the same item. Pros I absolutely LOVE Square Invoices!!! It makes my business so much easier. Having all of my invoices in one place without all the extra settings of Square is so amazing. Cons I don’t have too much that I don’t like about Square Invoices. Maybe that I don’t understand how to add a discount. Anytime I try to add a discount, it adds it as an item. It is simple, convenient, and makes taking payments feel easy. It is especially good for small businesses, or anyone who wants something straightforward. The main downside is the fees, but overall it is a solid and reliable option. Pros Very easy to use and set up. A lot of people like Square because you can start taking payments pretty quickly. Good all-in-one system. You can take in-person payments, send invoices, sell online, and track basic business info in one place. It is convenient that they have payment reminder for the customer before, during, or after payment is due. It has been a fairly easy, although simple program, it integrates well with our Quickbooks program as well. Pros The invoicing in convenient and it is free. You can also link it with other apps, like Quickbooks. This makes it convenient to transfer data. Cons The invoice customization is lacking. I can item details and customers can pay with preferred credit card. Pros Its easy to use and allows me create a simple invoice for local orders. Customers can pay with major credit cards and platform is overall reliable. Cons The fees can seem pretty high especially if the order total is high. To compensate, i have to charge my customers a small fee if they want to use a credit cars instrad if cash. " September 28, 2017 4.0 Pros What I like most is how simple and straight forward the user face is to use for myself as a business owner to send invoices and for my customers to pay with. Cons What I like least about this software is its reporting. It is very minimal and not accurate. It is nearly impossible to a report for specific days and get correct totals. It should be as easy as "how much money did we make yesterday" but Square Invoicing does not have the feature. Cons I cannot edit an invoice after it’s been marked paid. This is really a problem if it’s been marked paid in error. It’s also impossible to mark a partial payment in an invoice. I have a customer that makes partial payments and that’s forcing me to keep the invoice in an overdue state until it has been paid in full. Pros I really like how easy it is to setup recurring or one time invoices. It's completely customizable and free to use the invoice section. Accepting payments through the program also has a very minimal charge compared to most. Pros This program allows me to make send and track custom invoices for my small business. I can upload my logo and pick a matching color scheme. The program saves my settings then allows me to create my invoice in seconds. Then send it to my customers and I can accept payment through the program for a very minimal fee compared to most sites. I also can use it completely free to keep track of all my invoices and payments. Cons Honestly there are no cons on this software. Normally price is the biggest issue but not here. Leisure, Travel & Tourism Used the software for: 2+ years ### "We were looking for an app just like this" September 20, 2018 5.0 Pros We had used many invoice apps, and nothing did everything we needed until Square came out with their Invoice app. For starters, it is quick and easy to use, super fast to fill out an invoice. Once filled in, review and send in matter of seconds. You will be notified if the customer pays, if not, you can quickly send a reminder, and if they fail to pay by the due date, you will receive notification again. Keeps a running tab of total amount of invoices sent, what has been paid and what is still due. Super easy to customize with your own logo, and keep customer credit card on file for future purchases. It only takes a second to resend receipts and cancel invoices also. Highly recommended. Cons The only thing I can come up with, and I am being nit-picky here, is it would be nice to be able to swap out different logos for different projects. Not a HUGE issue though. It makes my life so much easier! The cost of it is not to high but completely worth the money. Pros The ability to save customers, chose to send now or later, picking the due date those are all nice. Cons If I could add new items from the invoice page that would be extremely helpful! Also the mobile version of adding invoices from my phone is a pain and doing it from my iPad isn't easy either.
