I ended up moving to software more specific to my industry but would def use Square again in the future if needed. Pros Square invoices is easy to set up and use. It has seamless payment processing that allows customers to easily pay for services. The invoices are highly customizable and I enjoyed the detailed graphs and financial reports. Cons When customers got their invoice through email there was a prominent button to "pay now" by credit card. Because of this, most of my clients paid by credit card instead of my preferred option which was e-transfer. I think that especially in tough economic times, you need to do everything possible to help customers pay, giving them as many options as possible. Also crucial for sending invoices with payment links to my foreign customers. Pros Square is fantastic for small businesses cost wise but also because of how easy it is to use it, also from your phone. Very intuitive and thanks to it I can offer so many more payment options! I use it mostly for my foreign customers and I never had any issues with it. Cons Sometimes I am not sure if I’ve done something correctly but that might just because it is not my main invoice software. February 15, 2022 3.0 Overall, its a good program/app for small business owners, and mini entrepreneurs. BUT there are too many hiccups from the start, and once you have your account setup and integrated into your business, you want everything to go smoothly, you dont want to lose hours, even days trying to submit all the required documents square asks for before taking any holds off your account,etc.... Pros What I liked most about the software was, the ease of the point of sale oh, it makes it very convenient and easy for small business owners to complete sales or transactions, and the square banking is a great option to use. Cons From the very beginning when I made my first point-of-sale transaction I had five small transactions the first day and immediately all my deposits and transfer were put on hold do you ask for invoicing in business information and documentation, all of that should have been done at the very beginning with a person opens the account oh, it's just a big hassle once you got it up and integrated into your business and then you start making transactions and the whole thing is put on hold. Pros I love the simplicity of having everything for my business in one place. Being able to quickly pull up previous invoices and duplicate the info for the next order is great. Cons The only change I'd make is in adding items to the invoice from our item library. It would be great to be able to select multiple items at a time, especially when it is multiple variations of the same item. It's easy to use, and I like that I can store previous customer information and reuse it without having to re-enter everything. What I really like is that customers can pay by credit card when they prefer that option. Cons The only downside is the high processing fee. Really happy, I can set recurring invoices, customise my invoices and do much much more. Pros Square invoices is incredibly easy to use and is inexpensive. I only pay 2.9% per transaction as against other companies where I used to pay 3.6% per transaction. Also I can collect via any medium and any credit/debit card and also generate custom payment links for specific items. Cons You can only collect payment in your home country. For e.g. I am not able to collect payments in Australian Dollars if I am based in Canada (thus I can collect payments only in my local currency, which is Canadian Dollars). My partner who manages the orders likes it too. Pros What I liked most about Square invoices is how payments can be taken with the invoice link. I can send an invoice for orders to the customer and if they can pay on the website thru the attached link. Cons I cannot edit an invoice after it’s been marked paid. This is really a problem if it’s been marked paid in error. It’s also impossible to mark a partial payment in an invoice. I have a customer that makes partial payments and that’s forcing me to keep the invoice in an overdue state until it has been paid in full. They make it very easy to get started. I like how once everything with my bank was arranged I could tailor the invoices look and content to suit my needs. As an individual entrepreneur it suits my needs perfectly for ad hoc payments from my vacation rental guests. Cons I wish I was able to manually key in CC numbers without needing to have a CVC or a postal code. As far as I can tell if I have the customer's CC number there's no way I can send the invoice as a kind of receipt and have it already marked as "paid". Pros I love how easy it is to create an invoice in my web browser OR in my smartphone app. I also love the fact that customer/vendors can now opt to save client payment information securely on their systems to make payments faster and easier. I definitely get paid faster, on average, by using Square Invoices. Cons Payments made using their Invoices system are exempt from the instant deposit feature, according to their user terms. So if a client pays their bill by way of an invoice, I can't use the instant deposit feature - I have to wait until the next deposit cycle. I would also really like some better and further customization on invoice creation.
