Pros: The billing system works well. We have used this program for more than ten years and have been happy with it. However, we now have all of our documents in the cloud, and therefore tried to convert to their cloud version. They won't allow you to do that unfortunately without also buying their management software, which is really of no use to us. It's too bad because we do like the program and would recommend it to someone who is not interested in having the convenience of mobile connectivity.

Cons: We are having leave because we cannot use the cloud billing without having to also buy a bunch of pork that we just don't want or need. They should allow you to just use the billing system online without forcing you to also buy their practice software.

Pros: I have been using this software for the past two years. We use it throughout our entire firm and I have never heard anyone say anything that they would change or add to it. I use it on a daily basis and it meets all of my needs. I am able to edit and review timekeeper time, keep track of our expenses, and generate statements that are completely customizable to how I want them. There are SO many different aspects of Tabs including accounts receivable, generating reports, entering time and expenses, and so much more!

Cons: I wish that I were able to delete multiple fee entries in Tabs. I am only able to do this in Practice Master, which is synched with Tabs.

Pros: It's very user friendly and I love how each program is integrated. The billing program integrates with the Trust Accounting program.

Cons: Sometimes it can run slow, but you just reboot and then it's fine. You can always upgrade to platinum if you want it to run a bit faster.

Pros: Everything! The people are fantastic, easy to reach, supportive and really understand what they are doing. No delays. Updates are effortless and well-done. Maintenance is awesome and worth every penny. Flexibility in use with other programs is absolutely flawless. This is a joy to use every day. When updating time records, there is a flawless connection with everything, which is crucial for transparency with clients when inquiring about balances due.

Comments: Dealing with everyone in technical support has been amazing. I received no training on certain tasks in TABS and he never makes me feel stupid for not knowing something. He always has a solution! I have never once been disappointed after calling!

Cons: Not very easy to access financials, payments etc. Too many steps to input certain items.

Overall: The support staff was so very patient (as I did not have a clue), knowledgeable about how to correct why I was unable to download the upgrade. He stayed on the phone and walked me through each step (additional steps) on getting the download to start. Super friendly guy and I wanted to take the time to thank him again and to let his supervisors know what an asset he is to your support staff, as he was able to talk a very frustrated user down from my frustration....TOTALLY AWESOME PERSON AND WONDERFUL JOB!!!

Pros: Module integration, ease of use, customer support, and company response to user feedback

Cons: The cost of cloud-based (platinum) service. It would be wonderful if I could work on TABS remotely without having to pay an arm and a leg to do so.

Overall: I have utilized TABS3 and it's corresponding modules in firms I have worked for since 1991. I find the program to be user friendly and robust in the features it offers. Module integration allows for seamless flow throughout the programs.

TABS3 customer support is the best I have ever worked with. I can always count on their customer support representatives to assist me with any problem I may encounter. Support representatives will see your problem until it is resolved to your satisfaction.

As a company, TABS3 is open to suggestions for changes/additions to its programs. They are very open to user feedback.

If you are considering a switch from your time, billing, and accounting software, I highly recommend you review TABS3. I think you will be very happy you did.

Pros: The flexibility in billing. Each of our attorneys like their statements a little different, and TABS is able to accommodate everyone.

Cons: I do not like the way Contacts integrates with the Client input. We have multiple matters under the same client each with a different billing person/address and sometimes this poses a problem.

Overall: I have been working with TABS 3 for over 10 years including the Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Trust add on. I haven't used Practice Master yet, but hope to soon. The software is very easy to use and has a lot of flexibility. I rarely need technical support because of the stability of the product but when I do, the support is excellent. I would recommend these products to any small to medium sized law firm.

Pros: tech support

Overall: Tabs3 is user friendly and the tech support is probably the best I have ever used. They are very down to earth and will give real answers to solve problems and how to make the program customized to your needs. The program in a simple way does everything you need with out needing to be a data base guru. You are able to focus on using the program for your needs instead of dealing with technical design issues.

Comments: I've used TABS software for more than 20 years, and have always been very pleased with the software, tech support, and the company (which is local for me). Integration between TABS, General Ledger, Trust Account and Accounts Payable keeps everything in balance and virtually eliminates posting errors. The ability to generate and customize just about any report I can imagine gives me exactly what I need without having to pick through irrelevant information. I highly recommend the software and the company!

Comments: I've used Tabs3 for just under a year now - the amount of features the software has make it easy to customize, so that you have exactly what you want. I know that I'm just scratching the surface of what the software can do. Learning the software is not very intuitive, it helps to have someone who knows teach you. Some larger reports take a long time to run, but I'm sure that is a result of how much data we have. Customer Support is EXCELLENT! As a new user, they have been invaluable to me. They always take their time to make sure that they answer all my questions and I never feel rushed.

Cons: Reports and export of information

Overall: I feel that Tabs needs to progress with more user friendly. Non-accounting employees have difficulty.
However, I do have an accounting background and would like more features regarding the following: Reports that have easy ability to exclude, categories and or/timekeepers. For example; the choice should all but.... WIP reports need to have an option to not include credit balances. A/R reports should have the option to exclude credit balances. The export to excel should be more like (in appearance) Quickbooks export to excel. Seems really old school. Need more customization. Trust accounting- needs a transfer payment to other account, needs editing like Tabs3 has and more reports cash receipts etc.

Pros: The software is easy to use and if you need help it is only a phone call away.

Cons: I would like the ability to archive vendors in APS.

Overall: I have been using TABS for over 20 years. It works very well for all aspects of firm financial management. We use billing, AP, GLS, Trust Accounting and Task Billing.

Their support is wonderful. I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes for a tech.

Comments: After using Timeslips for over a decade, we were ready for a change. We never found TS to be intuitive...the program was difficult to figure out and the customer service was all but non-existent. Tabs3 has been a breath of fresh air. The program is easy to figure out and the customer support has been top notch. I can be confident that when I call for assistance, I will reach a helpful, competent, American-based representative. I have nothing but good things to say about Tabs3 and would recommend it without a second thought.

Cons: Without Premium (expensive for a solo), there is no use on wireless products.

Pros: The software is easy to use. We can train new attorneys and staff members quickly and get them up and running with ease. The report writer allows us to customize our reports to our needs. The support is very helpful and always resolves our issues.

Cons: Some of the stock reporting doesn't go deep enough for a larger firm. We are on the cusp of the firm size I believe they are targeting. While we do have the report writer, it would be nice to have more of a dashboard setting as an overview to the health of your firm.

Overall: Tabs3 is simple to use and fits our firm of 25 attorneys perfectly. It allows us to extract data as needed and to customize our reports with their report writer function. The support is top notch and resolves our issues quickly and correctly. We are very happy with the performance of Tabs3.

Recommendations to other buyers: Tabs3 listens to our suggestions and requests. We beta test for them as needed and often see some of our requests become reality in the updates and releases. It's nice to have a company listen to you when they are doing updates.

Comments: I've used TABS and related products for over 25 years. I started out learning it on my own, so used tech support often. Now when I call them, it is for a more complicated problem and have always found them to be friendly, knowledgeable and quickly accessible. The software has all the features I need set up in a way that user friendly, even when you don't for sure how to do what you need done. I've never considered switching to another software.

Cons: I only have a couple of critiques. When I delete a fee entry or change the date, I wish that I didn't have to scroll back through the fee entry list to find where I left off at.

Overall: I've been using TABS for over a year, and I find the software very easy to use. The tabs make it easy to navigate and go to the option that I am wanting to use. The customer service is also great. Anytime that I have a question, I am able to call and immediately get someone on the phone that is able to answer my question.

Cons: doesn't print the 1096 form ; every accounts payable entry interfaces with TABS 3 - and not every AP invoice needs to be interfaced with a client invoice - why isn't here a way to by-pass this?; inability to highlight items on an invoice - on a case-by-case basis, i.e. high light amount due

Overall: I like the product! There are a few things that I would like to see added....such as: why doesn't it generate the 1096 form? it prints the 1099 report and forms, but then I need to manually generate the 1096 to the IRS.

Cons: Limitation on number of timkeepers

Overall: We have grown to 30 timekeepers (from 15) since we began using TABS over 20 years ago. Upgrading the PLATINUM last year increased flexibility in reporting.

Recommend this to the small as well as medium firm. Only drawback is the limit to 99 timekeepers and re-using timekeeper numbers with timekeeper turnover.

Tabs 3 has helped significantly.

Pros: Reports, A/R reports, collections reports

Overall: Once you're done with the setup of clients and rate tables, etc., the rest pretty much does itself. Very functional. The reports feature is great once you figure out what kind of report you want, and the parameters vary, so that's good too. You enter your fees, your costs, any payments, produce bills and you're done. Billing in the office prior to this software would take forever, and it was done in simple word processing software. Our lives are much easier now.

Pros: The ease of it all -- entering time (which works with Amicus), billing, reports, etc.

Cons: The only thing that I don't love about Tabs3 is the feature under new clients. We have a client and we do a lot of different things for them. Not everything needs to go to the same address and Tabs3 wants to use the same address every time. Kinda a pain in the neck but I've figured out a way around it

Overall: We've used Tabs3 for almost 30 years. Great program and it fits our firm. My only suggestion would be as to setting up client numbers for the same client - it wants to automatically put in the address or link all of the files which sometimes just doesn't work for me. Other than that -- I'm a 100% fan!

Pros: Speed and easy of use. REPORTS are wonderful.

Overall: I get my billing done in a snap. I especially like the billing e-mail features - my clients get my bills just as I complete them. Payment turns around MUCH faster. No more mailing and waiting.

Pros: The software has a wide array of features and billing is nicely prints out in a very organized and concise format, it really does have a lot of detail and nice features.

Cons: It seems to always have some problem or error message on the rare instances when I actually needed it to do a billing for a client, nothing is worse than paying for a product and then having to waste time because it will not work and then get stuck paying extra by having to call and pay the tech department $200 per hour to help you figure out why their product does not work as it is promised and as it should from the start. How is it possible that the product regularly has error messages that are not resolvable without a call to the tech department. Very frustrating.

Overall: I have had Tabs since 2010, it is terrible. You purchase the program and then you constantly have to go back to customer service (tech dept.) and they want to hit you up for $200 per hour for tech help, as you can imagine that is absurd, expensive and terrible. They let you buy the product and make it seem like there is no additional cost, reality is that you better pay for the ongoing tech support because there are always errors and problems that need addressing, did I mention the $50 minimal charge or $200 per hour for tech help. I rarely was able to use the program, each time I tries there was some new error message and a need to seek out tech department, truly a terrible experience.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are going to get this software pay the ongoing annual fee for the tech help because you are going to need it when a wide array of error messages show up that you will likely not be able to resolve yourself. I actually like the product generally speaking, not all the headaches and errors and added costs that come with it after you make the original purchase.

I am sorry that Mr. Gunthert has not had a good experience. We have reached out to him to discuss the specific issues that he is having.   I did want to mention a few things related to the points that he brought up. To make sure clients get off to a good start, every purchase of Tabs3 includes a free year of maintenance, which includes both technical support and any product updates that come out during the year. After a year, the maintenance is optional. Many clients prefer that to being required to pay an annual fee.   Also, our technical support team gets very high marks. In our last client survey 96% of our clients said they were satisfied with the support that they received from our team. Comments: I am looking for some different search avenues. I would like something similar to the conflicts check for the accounts receivables section. Also I would like to see more options for billing formats. Pulling old WIP without losing any time that is current time and the ability to not print coversheets without having to change client settings (I am still exploring these so it might be possible and I just haven't found the right setting). Otherwise I find this system easy and very well set up for manipulating to fit our needs. It is a program that can be run with very little knowledge of how it works, but becomes a great tool when you learn all the ins and outs.

Comments: I have used the program for over a decade and it will do just about anything that you need it to do, but you may need some technical guidance along the way. We have an excellent outside IT vendor in Kanas City that is available to answer all of our questions and issues. But this is necessary, as this is not the most intuitive program. We are just now beginning to pair this with the Practice Master (PM) case management system and I am excited to see the interplay between the programs. You set up a case in TABS and all of the information flows over to PM. Once you get PM populated with the most commonly used information (i.e. opposing counsel; clients) setting up a new file is a breeze.

I highly recommend the program.

Comments: Integration options are outstanding. It's easy to use, and if there are ever any questions, the customer service representatives are absolutely top notch. I would like to see more options for reports, especially a breakdown of A/R by timekeeper. I believe it's available, but only with PracticeMaster.

Comments: We have implemented all modules and extremely pleased with their functionality and the integration between the modules is flawless.The latest release included the document management feature which has proven to be extremely robust. We have replaced a third party file management system with the document manager feature and have saved money as well as now having a fully integrated solution for our documents.

Comments: I am pleasantly surprised at how little changes have been made. I was completely satisfied with version 14.2 and only upgraded because the old version would not load on my new computer. I was nervous about upgrading to say the least. There seemed to have be almost no changes and I am thrilled.

Tabs3 is very reliable and inputting time and costs is very easy and straightforward.

Comments: I have been using TABS3 for 16 years and its pros far outweigh its cons. It is a multi-user software, with different levels of security options to allow restrictions for certain Users based on their role in the organization. Its time and billing features are simple to learn and perform. A large variety of reports are available for better analysis of the organization's progress or lack of progress. Its main con is the fact that it is a software written for law firms in the US and we are a Bahamian law firm and have had to get assistance in tweaking certain features to meet Bahamian Governmental requirements.

We have used TABS for years and have had little if any problems with it.

Comments: I work in a small two-attorney office and consequently wear many hats. I sit at a front desk answering the phones, accepting deliveries, and meet/greet clients and other visitors to our office. In addition to secretarial responsibilities I handle the day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities as well as preparation of the firm's legal billing to clients. In other words, I live in an environment with many interruptions and little time to devote to a learning curve for billing software....I just simply need to "get it done." TABS is intuitive and many things can be easily learned as you go. I have had great luck pulling a general topic from the help section and printing out concise "how-to" for immediate and future reference purposes. Additionally, our local technical support representative, Cindy Krusenklaus, actually worked in a law firm years ago, thus has firsthand knowledge as to how lawsuits progress from assignment to settlement, and how billable time and expenses can best be presented to clients, companies, and third-parties [electronic billing] to ensure that our bills are properly presented for consideration/payment, thus providing our firm with the best possible dollar return for the work performed and return of expenses advanced by our firm. We are MORE than pleased with the product itself, information in the help sections, and -- in particular -- our local rep!!!!

Comments: I have been using this product for 9 years now. You can use it almost out of the box, but as with any program with a wide range of features, leaning it well allows you to get the most out of the program. E-mailng bills is probably my favorite feature, with the drill-down capability in the draft bill to the underlying billing record probably my second. These two features have changed my billing from hours to minutes.

Comments: Tabs3 as a time and billing software is easy to setup and easy to use. The Tabs3 software is versatile in the delivery and layout to the client so you can meet your client's requirements. From solo law firms to large insurance defense firms, your billing requirements are met. The electronic billing requirements required for insurance defense firms are easily generated with Tabs3 and a another module called Task Bill.

The customer support is the best on the market. The hold times are minimal and you have knowledgeable personnel when they answer.

The integration with PracticeMaster is seamless. The integration is great with its General Ledger and Trust modules for those needs. The integration with QuickBooks if also very good, if your accountant prefers QuickBooks. The web connection in its Platinum version make time entry from any place with internet connection very easy.

I highly recommend Tabs3 billing software.

Comments: I am a long-time Tabs3 fan. The program is a mature contender in the time and billing market. It is stable, intuitive, provides powerful reporting and integrates with its own financial suite and case manager (PracticeMaster) or QuickBooks. I chose to utilize Tabs3 in 1999 and have never considered another product since. The software is Reliable and constantly being updated as new technology comes to the market. I not only use the software personally for my business but I also have chosen to sell and implement the software. In order to have happy clients I must have a Great product.

Comments: I have been a consultant and legal software reseller for 32 years, and have worked with virtually every billing and practice management system known to the legal community. I settled on Tabs3 and PracticeMaster as my go to products.
I know it sounds corny but the tech support is the best there is. I will often call them from my cell phone during a demo to show their response time. I have yet to be disappointed.
The company is privately held and is not going to be sold in my lifetime. I am banking my living on that!
The billing system is great and has evolved wonderfully over the years. They improve it every year, mostly by listeningn to we resellers and consultants' feedback. They care about their resellers and support us wonderfully.
Sorry to sound like such a suck up to them, but after being mistreated, lied to, and cheated by the other billing software companies (and you know who you are) it is a pleasure to work with a company that truly cares.
