### "Great Product - needs updated to current times"

I loved the reporting features it had; it worked amazing. The UI updates they gave were basically masking what the end side of the product functioned off of.

Pros

Tabs3/Practice Master was one of the best Accounting and Bookkeeping products I have ever used. The reality is, it is an old software platform that requires an on-site server to function; They attempted to utilize the acquired SAAS program and said it would function the same way, however it never did. As a hard-installed (on-site) install, it is absolutely amazing. However it still needs drastic updates to it's overall platform and a rework of the entire backend.

Cons

They refused to update their systems beyond the Windows 98 based platforms. It nolonger worked with 64bit systems, and required on-prem services. It is an old (while very efficient) product, and needs to be updated to a post year 2010 platform.

I've been using Tabs for over 20 years. It continues to grow features and gets more robust over time.

Pros

Tabs3 is great value for the money and has a robust offering of modules that integrate seamlessly for accounting, billing, management reporting and client management. Customer support is amazing and can troubleshoot most items over the phone.

Cons

I have not run into any cons with Tabs3. It has everything our small law firm needs to function like one of the big fish. It has a lot of options for bulk entries, integrations, etc.

### "Good for billing, but feels a bit old school"

It's a solid tool if you just need something reliable that keeps your accounting straight. It might not be the prettiest software out there, but it offers decent value for money because it rarely crashes and handles the heavy lifting well. We rely on it every day, even if we grumble about the clunky menus sometimes.

Pros

The billing and bookkeeping sides of things are really thorough. It handles all the complex accounting stuff easily, which makes me feel confident about the security and compliance side of things. The reporting feature is also a big plus—once you figure out how to customize them, you can pull up exactly what you need to see for the month.

Cons

It definitely looks and feels like older software. The interface isn't super intuitive, so training new people on it always takes a while. Also, trying to get hold of customer support can sometimes be a hassle when you're stuck on a specific billing error and need answers fast.

Really have not had any problems we also have Practice Master which I find has a few flaws but all over all everything in Tabs Accounts Payable and now Trust Accounting is amazing

### "Good for the Price Point"

Pros

They are always changing and upgrading the platform. The conflict check reports and all around reporting in general is very helpful. They just updated their billing system as well and it has been very useful

Cons

It is a very outdated experience when utilizing the software. Only one person can complete the billing at a time which slows down the process. While the offering of reports can be very useful I find myself having trouble utilizing them as there are items that I would like to search or sort by that are only available if you purchase a report builder.

Pros

Tabs3 has provided such comfort with the level of security that they offer. Compared to other previously used products--nothing compares! It also makes our office systems run so much smoother with how efficient their accounting and bookkeeping services are.

Cons

There were some bugs with IT that gave me a few tech glitches. However, their customer support staff is amazing and they had the issue resolved extremely quickly and I've had no issues outside of that one isolated event.

I have been using TABS3 for over 20 years. Prior to that time, as a CPA, I assisted attorneys who were using it as well. It is an excellent product that has been around for a long time. And this is a company that understands "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" because it works! (Don't misunderstand the difference between updated/modernized versus "overhauled". This product has kept up with the times without overreaching.)

Pros

This is an excellent product that works as advertised. It is geared towards attorneys but, as a CPA firm, it has benefitted us greatly.

Cons

I would like to have a better "training session" to use this software. I believe we are using it well, but it could be better benefit us (but I'm not sure how).

I work with the various Tabs3 module, but primarily with PracticeMaster. I interact with PracticeMaster for calendaring, time entry, interfacing with clients (via email), and document management (of client records).

Pros

User friendliness of the application and scope of the different modules available. Module interface is also a key pro to this product; that you can access information about different aspects of client interaction from many "angles" or perspectives.

Cons

Limit to number of users that can be on the platform.

I am really happy with Tabs3 & Practice Master. Having used it for 7 years, I have, and am I am happy to continue to recommend it it other firms.

Pros

I have been working with Tabs3 for about 7 years, the software has more features than we even use, but are there for larger firms with more complex billing systems. In the instances when we run into a tricky situation, the phone support is fast and knowledgeable. You get a real person who does in fact know how to solve whatever issue you are having. The system is stable and we very rarely run into any software issues.

Cons

The one situation that is a little inconvenient is that not all of the screens that are available in the Tabs3 client exist in PM. Consequently, users who are primarily using PM, have to specifically log into Tabs3 to make billing-related edits to the client profile that are not accessible in PM.

I was intimidated and nervous for the change. After going over the program with another office who recommended Tabs3 I was able to see how everything connected for day-to-day transactions and felt less intimidated.

### "Unethical business practices. Maintenance is a not good. Poor treatment of customers."

Pros

It does what it is supposed to do. I use Tabs3 for billing and for keeping track of my client trust account. It has many useful features and reports.

Cons

They had very bad service when it comes to maintenance. The software is not very user-friendly, first of all, so you're likely going to need technical and/or customer support. I've been using it for nearly 10 years, and this is how they treated me: I paid the same price for maintenance for the first three years, and everything was fine. Then they decided it was time to start gouging me. Every year, the price went up. The service I received was exactly the same, but they decided to charge me more and more for it with each passing year. I asked them to please lock me in at a rate, and that I was willing to sign up for a long-term commitment, but they refused, insisting that I pay more with each passing year. Over a 3-year period, the price went up by nearly 100%. Eventually, I terminated my maintenance plan to keep my office costs down. After a year off, I decided to pay for another year of maintenance, hoping to start at a fresh, low rate. But the opposite happened-- they not only quoted me an even higher rate than before, but THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR (the year in which I received no maintenance services) in order to get them to agree to provide me with maintenance again. WOW. Money for nothing. That's not just sleazy, it's unethical.

I love the integration between Tabs, Trust A/P and General Ledger. It is seamless.

Cons

We could always use a way to be able to print pre-bills that don't include old matters without having to go through a database of 2500 clients to remove those old matters.

I've been using TABS3 software since about 1998. Having TABS3 Software and its integrated software modules make billing, case management, accounts payable, GL and trust accounting a breeze. TABS3 software bills are easy for clients to read making it easier for them to pay. It's easy to maneuver in, make changes on a draft basis and the like. Pulling information from TABS3 software for analytics makes my job easier to determine timekeeper production, fields of practice viability, and financial progress. And bank reconciliations - nice! PracticeMaster manages information at-a-glance - no more pulling paper files or going to other programs to find it. TABS3 software is one of our most valuable tools.

Pros

All STI products are integrated. They are user-friendly.

Cons

Report Writer: Unless you have a computer programmer on staff or know someone who is intimately familiar with Report Writer, Report Writer is not worth the trouble because you'll never figure it out. Quirky things that cause problems: A. You can't give discounts on bills unless your current fees billed supports that amount of discount. Discounts are given on an overall basis, not just on the current fees billed. B. AP module leaves you hanging in TABS3 cost entry; it doesn't cycle back to AP so you can write more checks. C. Refunds where no money is involved can go over to GL as if money was involved - need to be on your toes to delete that immediately.

Using since forever and it has a wealth of information in it. Therefore, it would be hard to change. Younger staff members think it is cumbersome.

Pros

Synchronizes with Practice Master and Trust Accounting. Not having to repeatedly enter information. Conflict check is great, quick and easy

Cons

Cumbersome as it is really accounting based design. Reports are difficult sometimes to get the results you want. The overall billing process takes a lot of time, as we have to be sure lawyers & staff have all info correct.

### "The not so good Tabs"

I have had Tabs since 2010, it is terrible. You purchase the program and then you constantly have to go back to customer service (tech dept.) and they want to hit you up for $200 per hour for tech help, as you can imagine that is absurd, expensive and terrible. They let you buy the product and make it seem like there is no additional cost, reality is that you better pay for the ongoing tech support because there are always errors and problems that need addressing, did I mention the $50 minimal charge or $200 per hour for tech help. I rarely was able to use the program, each time I tries there was some new error message and a need to seek out tech department, truly a terrible experience.

Pros

The software has a wide array of features and billing is nicely prints out in a very organized and concise format, it really does have a lot of detail and nice features.

Cons

It seems to always have some problem or error message on the rare instances when I actually needed it to do a billing for a client, nothing is worse than paying for a product and then having to waste time because it will not work and then get stuck paying extra by having to call and pay the tech department $200 per hour to help you figure out why their product does not work as it is promised and as it should from the start. How is it possible that the product regularly has error messages that are not resolvable without a call to the tech department. Very frustrating.

I am sorry that Mr. Gunthert has not had a good experience. We have reached out to him to discuss the specific issues that he is having.   I did want to mention a few things related to the points that he brought up. To make sure clients get off to a good start, every purchase of Tabs3 includes a free year of maintenance, which includes both technical support and any product updates that come out during the year. After a year, the maintenance is optional. Many clients prefer that to being required to pay an annual fee.   Also, our technical support team gets very high marks. In our last client survey 96% of our clients said they were satisfied with the support that they received from our team. Good customer support, but not thrilled with the confusing and convoluted processes to deal with transactions that should be simple.

Pros

It is quite complete, and certainly handles necessary accounting tasks for my practice.

Cons

Maybe many of the functions are intuitive for trained accountants, but just seem to be unnecessarily complex and unintuitive for the non-accountant. I miss having simple things like an account register where you can see all the current and future transactions and balances at a glance, like I was used to in Quickbooks. What had been some very quick entries of information and data in Quickbooks can become quite involved, confusing and time-consuming.

The General Ledger Report (from the top menu, Reports, then General Ledger Report) was designed to provide a breakdown of account activity by journal and may suit your needs. Also, there are training videos (from the top menu Help, then Training Videos) that provide a more detailed breakdown of the journal entry process, which may help speed up data entry. ### "Tabs is EASY to learn and EASY to use! "

AMAZING. I love this software. It's the best account billing software that I've used in the legal field so far. When cost codes are needed for certain accounts they are easy to use and the reports that can be generated are very detailed.

Pros

I love how easy Tabs is to use and just like the name, all you have to do is TAB through the entire invoice. It's very easy to navigate and when you need to make changes it's super easy. The new design layout that was just unveiled is great! There are some new much-needed features that were updated and that makes it even better.

Cons

I don't like the fact that once you create an invoice and save it if you realize you messed up and put it under the wrong account number, you can't just fix it and delete it yourself. You need to contact an administrator with permissions to have it deleted, but I understand that's just a safety precaution and nothing really negative about the software itself. Otherwise, I haven't found any additional negative things about Tabs.
