### "The PLOTTR Thickens"

May 30, 2023

5.0

You can create a series bible look at the scenes (or beats) and see where you need to speed and slow down.
You can see where you need to add a new scene and where I can delete one
You add details with each new draft. PLOTTR is amazing.
It has drawers (what else should I call them?) for characters with photos, locations, themes, tags, attributes. And multiple ways of viewing a story. You can view a story by Project, Timeline, Outline, left to right or up and down. Characters, scenes, locations are color coded (if desired) and filtered. When I am finished with a PLOTTR Outline, I render it in SCRIVENER. Yes, PLOTTR outputs in both WORD and SCRIVENER. Once my FINAL PLOTTR outline appears in SCRIVENER, I take three or four days to write the final. I go to the past tense. Finally, I write the dialogue. It's the final touch.

It’s the cherry, peanuts, bananas and hot butterscotch on the sundae. For weeks I held myself back from writing the dialogue. When I do it flows like warm honey. It’s short, colorful and concise. If I was writing a sitcom or a play (which are pure literary genres) I would do nothing but write dialogue. But for audio fiction told in the third-person limited a distinct set of writing tools is needed. I love PLOTTR. Try the PLOTTR 30-day free offer and see for yourself. I am one happy OUTLINER. Oliver WarmflashWriter Producer THE MYSTERIOUS WORLD OF BUSTER LEE \[sensitive content hidden\]

Pros

During the first C-19 lockdown I discovered writer \[sensitive content hidden\] spends a year and a half outlining his books. The outlines run an average of 65 pages. Follet sold 200 million books. I’ve read and adored a few of them. During the second C-19 lockdown I wrote a Young Adult Fiction Podcast series set in 1980 New York. Modeled on The Hardy Boys, Tintin and Nancy Drew books of my childhood I wrote fifteen 30-minute plus episodes. Called THE MYSTERIOUS WORLD OF BUSTER LEE, the series follows the adventures of a teenage boy (Buster Lee) and his dog (Beck) an Australian Heeler. I use Scrivener and it’s fantastic. I love it. I couldn’t live without it. But it's outlining program (the cork board) was not what I needed. For two months I researched and tried every outlining program available and settled on PLOTTR. Because I needed a custom Three Act audio story template, with a continuous cast, PLOTTR was perfect.Building the template took me two weeks. But it was two weeks well spent. Tech Support at PLOTTR was helpful. As noted, I am on OUTLINE writer. With PLOTTR I write an average of 75 drafts of an outline. Iteration after iteration PLOTTR allows me to layer the details of a story like nobody’s business. Each half-hour show takes between seven and ten days to break. There is no dialogue and everything (true to STEP OUTLINE technique) happens in the present tense.

Cons

Time in setting up my template but that is time well spent.

### "Plotter is just what I needed"

November 18, 2022

5.0

In creating the main plot for my novel, I am plotting the stories of each of my characters. Plottr lets me weave these stories around a main plot that links them logically.

Pros

What I liked best about this software was the concept, the idea itself, of a collection of tools that would make creating the structure of a story easy and fast. As far as I know, no other software does what Plottr does the way that it does it. It finally brings to the computer all of the aspects of plotting a story that I have been doing by hand for most of my writing life.

Cons

There is really nothing about this software that I didn't like.

Reason for choosing Plottr

I did not choose Plottr over any of the other software that I use, even though those others might have a few things in common with it. I chose Plottr in addition to those others because it does things they cannot do. It facilitates the quick construction of a detailed and annotated skeletal structure that is easy to follow and change and, more importantly, easy to write from.

### "Plottr is a lifesaver!"

February 10, 2023

5.0

I use Plottr to bring my story together. It's my research lab.

Pros

The Timeline and the tagging are essential to my workflow.

Cons

I don't really use the outlining feature as much. I use Plottr to help me outline. It's my idea board. I'm sure it's helpful for those who do plotting offline though.

### "Recommended for those needed help with Plotting"

November 15, 2022

5.0

I have used / purchased a lot of methods / programs from index cards to a large white board to Excel spreadsheets as well as four other paid programs (which I found confusing, complicated or just not right for me). I signed up for Plottr's 30-day trial, and honestly, expected the same results: a semi-viable product that just wasn't the right fit. However, not only was I impressed that the trial was the "full" program -- with no limitations -- it was exactly what I was looking for. Finally, I felt like I had a partner in my writing journey. In less than a week, I'd concluded this was the right program for my career. It is effective, easy to use, and very cost effective. It also works with programs I already use: Scrivener, Word and DropBox. Now, I am organized and back to writing full-time -- never getting lost, nor losing any past work.

Pros

PLOTTING can be confusing for some writers who have a great story to tell. I am one of those writers when it comes to fiction. Here's why:ORGANIZATION- this program allows to organize all my plots in one place. I am secure in knowing that my hard work will not be lost due to the automatic daily backups. Also, I can switch between my DESKTOP, LAPTOP or IPAD using the latest version that is saved to my DropBox.The various TEMPLATES, which offer precise details regarding Acts, Beats, etc, are immensely helpful in getting me through the Muddy Middle of my plot. Particularly if I have multiple characters and plot lines.PROJECTS can be a single book or a "series." I use them for similar writing, such as Short Story Horror. While the books are not part of a chronological series, they are grouped together under one umbrella.CHARACTERS, even in the "series" option of the project, can be assigned to a particular book, along with TAGS or LOCATIONS. The VIDEO and online TIPS are extremely helpful. It's like having a mentor at the click of a button.BACKUPS and EXPORTING are a tremendous plus. The program automatically backs up the daily work, and the ability to export to Word or Scrivener is a huge plus.

Cons

Honestly, I can't find one CON, Except that the product is new and improving, so at this time (11-2022), I'd like to see more YA, MG and Children's templates and/or specific Videos.

Reason for choosing Plottr

Plottr is far easier to use and understand than other programs I have tried.

### "This is one of the best programs for writers"

January 27, 2023

5.0

Pros

It is a program that I have been using daily for a couple of years, and I am delighted with it. It has changed my way of writing and dealing with stories. Furthermore, it is used to organize writing before, during and after writing. Generally, I always use it before I start to write the first draft of the story. It helps me to draw both the outline of this, divided into chapters, and the characteristics and biography of the characters. In addition, it also has a section for places and another for notes. The timeline is great, as you can see the fundamental aspects of the story on little cards. These can be moved around. Inside each card, you can put notes, which I always do. Another aspect that I love is the use of colors and formatting to personalize the cards. In addition, during the notes, you can use tags that serve to better organize the stories. For example, you can associate characters with a scene or with places, which is very useful. The program also has templates with the most common structures for creating stories. In addition, it is translated into other languages. I use it to write in Spanish, and it works great for me that the directions are in my language. As I said before, I use it daily along with Scrivener, and I work using both at the same time.

Cons

Since I've been using it, I haven't seen many problems. The only thing, perhaps, is that lately the possibility of ordering the notes temporarily has not worked for me, something that I used to use very frequently to see the last ones that I have written. I guess it will be a small bug that will be fixed in another version, since it didn't happen to me before.

### "Super tool for plotting novels and creating story bibles"

May 5, 2023

5.0

On the rare occasion when I've run into technical issues, the Plottr support staff have been extremely responsive and helpful. They also allow users to suggest new features, many of which are then implemented. The team maintains a series of "how to" videos. These are updated to demo each major new feature. One huge plus for me is the ability to create a main series project (and use that as a story bible), with sub-projects for the individual books in the series.

Pros

I love the flexibility of this tool for outlining my novels and creating and maintaining story bibles within a series. The flowchart-like Timeline feature lets you keep track of multiple plotlines and story arcs, both on a series level and within individual books. The beauty of this tool is that once you've fleshed out your outline, you can export it to Microsoft Word or Scrivener, and immediately start writing! And using the Series features means that it's easy to come back up to speed on characters, etc. if you take a break between books in that series. I bought a lifetime license three years ago, and currently use Plottr as the starting point for all my novels and novellas.

Cons

I initially had a few issues with Export to Word, and some feature suggestions for those of us who write linked books in a series. The support team quickly got a patch release out for the Word issue, and I haven't had any issues since. Also, my most-needed features have since been added to the product. On the whole, it's one of the most useful tools in my author toolbox.

Reason for choosing Plottr

Some other authors recommended it, so I watched a demo video on YouTube and I was sold!

### "The Gold Star for in plotting software!"

November 30, 2022

5.0

I purchased Plottr when it first came out and it has proven to be the most helpful use of my author budget. I have nothing but good things to say about this software. And Plottr continues to ask for user feedback, which they then actually ACT ON. They execute these changes and additions every few months, and continue to ask for feedback. Really tuned into the author community and what they want.

Pros

It's obvious that Plottr was designed by an author, because it is so user friendly and intuitive to how an author's brain works when facing the daunting task of plotting out a book or entire series. I love that the software is SO VERSATILE and I have found myself using different tools or organization methods for various projects I'm working on. The option to use one of the dozens of plotting templates already set up or create your own is such a huge time-saver, too. And I can't rave enough about the "tag" system which allows you to filter any part of your plotting notes as needed.

Cons

I've had a couple issues losing or accidentally deleting a project, but this is due to my own ineptitude and the fact that I didn't bother to correctly save my projects at various times. When I contacted Plottr for help, I was able to retrieve my "lost" project within minutes. Their customer service/help is fantastic - super quick to respond and always make sure to check in even after they've fixed my screw up, just to make sure everything's still going smoothly.

Reason for choosing Plottr

I had purchased an infostack bundle at one point that allowed me to use these other two tools for free, at the same time as I did a free trial of Plottr, and I found Plottr to be in a whole other league. It was perfect for what I was looking for, while the other two just didn't have nearly the same flexibility and ease of use.

Switched from

[Scrivener](https://www.capterra.com/p/180597/Scrivener/)

While I find Scrivener is ideal for writing the actual manuscript, it really wasn't ideal for plotting purposes and it got really confusing. Plotting is not what Scrivener was designed for.

### "Goodbye index cards and corkboard!"

May 19, 2023

5.0

Plottr's intuitive interface and robust features are without parallel among all the other programs and platforms I'm aware or or have experimented with. However, the thing that impresses me most is the team you've assembled and how hands-on, responsive and dedicated they are. I routinely check for updates because chances are, there's one available. The software has grown and evolved at light speed since I started using it in the very early days, and at this point, I can't think of any major feature or function it lacks. You can really tell this is a product that was developed by writers for writers.

Pros

As I write this, I'm looking at the giant corkboard across the room, scattered with multi-colored index cards. I haven't touched it in months because the Plottr interface makes the process so much easier. Plottr is much MUCH more than a digital corkboard--it's full of features and tools that I didn't know I needed until they were available. It's got absolutely everything I need to plan your story and I keep it open on my secondary monitor at all times.

Cons

I'm still not completely clear on "series view" vs. viewing the project itself. Most of the projects I've created so far are not part of a series, so it feels like an extra layer that confuses me when I don't need it. Also, I'd like to be able to change the default font for ALL instances of text, not just within the cards themselves (this might be possible already, but if so, I'm unaware of how to change it). The current default font is elegant, but a little too "thin" to stand out for me. Keep in mind that I'm in my 50s, so it might be an issue unique to me.

### "An Intuitive outlining machine!"

August 3, 2023

5.0

I am a new writer, but also an English high school teacher. Holy smokes, this program has given me so many ideas to help not only myself write better, but also coach my students to do the same. Being able to see structure and break it down is so valuable to understanding why great stories just work.

Pros

The ability to visibly see the work easily in one spot (and the ability to move things around on the fly both online and in-between the computer and mobile versions of the Pro Account) has been a God-send.I never thought I would enjoy outlining or planning a book from a skeleton template but once I was able to see where key events needed to be and had guiding questions to help me push along my narrative, I thoroughly got excited in the planning process. What usually takes me months to plan-out in my old method took mere days with this program. The outline / templates available with a click has been one of my favorite features of this software - it has opened my eyes to ideas for betting my structure and story beats according to the book I want to write appropriately. Absolutely worth the price.

Cons

I am a note taker and love writing random ideas. I wish the notes section could be a bit more compartmentalized cause I have like 60 different tabs of notes for various things.Sometimes I find the program lags when I am copying and pasting text from one place to the next. If I try to paste a bunch of text between two paragraphs sometimes it won't paste in the place I desire, but pastes on the very top. Not a bit thing, but there's been a few scary moments where I got the "uh-oh something happened!" warning.I'd like to be able to register favorite colors and have them placed at the top for faster access.

### "When it Comes to Essential Publishing Business Story The Plottr Thickens"

May 26, 2023

5.0

Has been an overall great experience.

Pros

Keeping all the information for all of my series in one place makes Plottr my go-to book building software after trying literally EVERY platform found since beginning publishing in 2005. Being able to access the dashboard for all of my books - FICTION and NON FICTION, as well the space for storyboarding and planning my YouTube videos for my books make this the best space for creative project management, world building, and plotting.

Cons

Don't have much I don't like about Plottr. The features and nice-to-haves for the platform have been introduced year-over-yer by the developer. None of my improvement recommednations have anything to do with the product itself. It gets the job done and continues to get better. If you're thinking about getting Plottr, do it.

### "Plottr: A Tool For All Seasons (and Series)"

October 5, 2022

5.0

I've used it to create visual plots of several stories I already had, then sent those to my editor for a quick reference. I've used it to create some new stories. It's been most useful in the first area, simply as a great communication bridge between me and my editor. I plan to use it for more up front plotting of stories as I get to that stage, but I happen to be in a position where I have lots of existing stories I need to finish or polish and this gives me a tool to direct my efforts to where they need work.

Pros

Plottr allows you to graphically map out your stories in a flexible and intuitive way. The fundamental function of having scenes built at the intersections of chapters (or sections) and storylines fits perfectly with people's understanding of a story. Things happen in order and are about certain things. Plottr maps to that same understanding. Once your story is in, you can easy change it, expand it, or simply use it as a map for your writing. The other information you can add (notes, characters, settings, etc) makes it a great place to consolidate all your story information. And now you can consolidate all the books in a series into a single file, creating a great story bible even as you use it to create your story in the first place. You get at least three benefits: Outlining your story, having a reference while writing your story, and having a compact store of information to look back on when outlining and writing your next story.

Cons

One problem I encountered was a lack of hot keys. When creating a plot from an existing book or from notes in some other format, I want to be able to go as quickly as possible, hands on the keyboard and jumping from item to item. Many of the features are oriented around the mouse and don't have an option for a hotkey. So I create a scene, type in the information, then grab the mouse to choose where the next scene I'll enter is. I'd rather type in the information, then hit a hotkey which takes me to the next node and opens a scene for me to type. Or when applying a new batch of tags I just came up with. I want to be able to move through the scenes quickly and apply my new tags without opening and closing the scenes. This is definitely an advanced feature that will come in later as other more fundamental features are finished.

### "A easy-to-use plotting tool with a growing feature set"

December 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

I've tried a number of plotting tools and workarounds. They usually ended up either (a) being too complicated for their own good, (b) too expensive for what I need them to do, or (c) too kludgy to be useful. Plottr started with a simple mission -- manage the process of plotting using scene cards -- and still focuses on making that easy for authors, even as it gains new capabilities.I learned to use Plottr by simply using it; the basic functionality is that straightforward. I've planned my past two novels with Plottr and expect to keep using it in the future. I'll eventually try the newer functions and keep using the ones that work for me. But nothing forces a user to deal with functions s/he doesn't want to use, unlike some competing products. The developers are very accessible and seem to listen to customer requests. The company also hosts a template exchange. If you want to switch from Save the Cat to The Virgin's Promise, those templates probably already exist and you can get to them easily.

Cons

There's still no global search-and-replace function, and I'm still waiting for a proper calendar template or timeline structure (I use calendars to make sure time passes correctly in my plots). Other than that, all is good.

### "Best tool for series bible"

June 23, 2023

4.0

It's truly been a game-changer for me. I wrote two standalone epic fantasy novels using other software, and was SO glad to discover Plottr when I started on my first epic fantasy trilogy. It has made all my messy thoughts and notes an organized system that I can easily reference, which has saved me time and stress during each of the writing stages.

Pros

Plottr is an essential tool for writers that can be used as a bible. It's easy to keep track of all the details of world-building, characters, and plot structure. I love that I can include ALL the info for entire series (plus spin-off stories) in one place. The visual plotting tool is great, and the templates and categories make it a snap to organize information. I used to use Scrivener for all this, but Plottr is easier to use and has more tools (I do still use Scrivener for the writing process), so I would definitely recommend Plottr to authors who want to keep their work organized!

Cons

Plottr can be a little clunky. I have trouble using the Search feature, as it will bring up documents with the keyword, but not show me where the actual word is in the document (and some of my documents are a couple thousand words!). It's also best for large screens/monitors, since there is a lot going on visually.

Switched from

[Scrivener](https://www.capterra.com/p/180597/Scrivener/)

I saw that Plottr had more tools for plotting and organizing notes, and I loved that. Scrivener is great for writing and editing (I still use it for those things), but Plottr holds everything else I need for brainstorming, writing, and editing. I needed a heavy-duty software to hold and organize all the worldbuilding, character, and plotting information, and Plottr has been perfect for this. Plus, I can keep ALL this information for an entire series in one place.

### "Plottr is a game changer for me"

August 3, 2023

5.0

From the first moment I opened Plottr the first time, I knew it would be a must have tool for me. As a plantser, I can get bogged down by details and not be able to visualise them into a story as a whole. The Plottr interface gives you that perfect snapshot to see your whole story laid out, and it's so much more useful than post its because you can edit and move everything around so easily. I recommend Plottr to all my author friends.

Pros

Plottr gives me a very comprehensive but efficient way to check my outlines/plots for weak points and plot holes. The visual aspect is so pleasant and the features give me so much flexibility to tailor to my own needs.

Cons

I wish there was more integration with other softwares, but I think with the regular updates, they will be coming soon.

January 23, 2023

5.0

It's always been easy to use Plottr and I have to say their customer service response is not only almost immediate, they are knowledgeable, friendly and always follow up!

Pros

Every aspect of Plottr is either critical or important to us. So I would have to say that the most important thing for me is that it exists!

Cons

I would like to be able to write my manuscript in Plottr they way I can work in Google docs or Word as I feel the people behind Plottr would create a much better product, than the aforementioned programs.

### "Plottr helps you worldbuild!"

January 27, 2023

5.0

Plottr makes my story writing process go significantly faster. Plottr also offers an abundance of webinars free to its users that helps you learn while you write! It makes my creative process almost worry free when I try to consider the tiniest details of my story.

Pros

I like the ability to arrange your story and use multiple threads while still being able to see them all in once place. The templates are very good! They help you understand your characters on an emotional level and work toward their goals while also building the world around them.

Cons

I didn't know that there were templates for characters available until my most recent story. The templates are incredibly useful and I wish there were easier ways to see that they were there outside of clicking through so many options on the software. I also wish that there were templates available for settings, too, to help with worldbuilding.

### "Storing books, series, characters, information"

May 12, 2023

4.0

I have used three or four other programs. Each of which does some portion of what Plottr does. They are no easier for me to use because nothing is intended for people who have disabilities, or even take that possibility into consideration. Frankly, with all of us writers out there getting older, and older, more programs need to take an aging population into consideration.

Pros

I like that I am able to include pictures with names and information in one spot. I also enjoyed being able to put titles and pictures on specific blocks, to show me how many books in the series I had planned with tentative covers. And I started plotting out the scenes of a book which helped in writing it in order. I usually don't plot, but this is a mystery and certain things have to come first, so it was good to have a place to keep that information in the right order like when you need to drop a clue so that no one knows that's what it is but it's there Etc.

Cons

Because I have visual issues, little token marks are totally lost for me when trying to find my way around any program. I need large readable words that say, this is what this does, you dummy. I like the idea of templates. I used a couple of them, changing them slightly from what they were intended. But I would really like to import my style of template, which isn't based on any of the current programs.

Reason for choosing Plottr

Not over, in addition to.

### "The best tool available for writers so far"

December 31, 2022

5.0

Pros

What brought me to Plottr in the first place was its timeline. I am the kind of guy doing a lot of research before diving into the writing . I was searching a tool that would help me organize my findings and ideas to eventually turn all that info into a great story. I love the “drag and drop” feature on the timeline as well as the tag feature.

Cons

What I like also is that I can count on a very proactive creative team who work very hard to bring new features on a regular base. I know we all have different projects and that it would be impossible to suit everyone’s desire. I would surely appreciate an organization chart for characters for example, on the same model as the timeline to help with any complex family trees or relationships. I would also appreciate a world map where we can follow our characters’ itinerary with dates for example. But I am already grateful for what this amazing tool is offering me.

### "The exact tool I was looking for"

January 6, 2023

5.0

I am thrilled. More than worth the money and fills every requirement I was looking for and then some.

Pros

My writing involves plots with a LOT of background, timelines, multiple POVs etc so I have spent years in organization and planning mode. It’s especially difficult because I have ADHD so mind is ping-ponging around ideas constantly. I have to write them down but organizing them and putting them in order later is a nightmare. I literally went on to Google thinking there has to be a tool that is essentially a conspiracy board meets whiteboard made into an editable dashboard. Viola Plottr came up and as soon as I saw that drag and drop timeline set up I nearly cried. This is exactly what I have been looking for and has made me 100x more efficient. I also love that there is so much room to get creative - notes and imagery and colour coding characters, locations, etc. and all for an unbelievably affordable price. It’s also very user friendly. I did skim through the user guides but honestly I didn’t need them. Play around for 10 mins and it’s straightforward. Seriously just skip the free trial and buy it - can’t go wrong.

Cons

Haven’t really found any limitations! I get a bit distracted by all the fun features but frankly that’s because they’re so great - not even a con!

Scrivener is fantastic for the actual writing part of my stories but it lacks the more visual layout/dashboard element I needed to most effectively plan.

### "Plottr keeps my worlds aligned"

June 15, 2023

5.0

Overall, it's been a great experience. Before plottr, I always had to refer to a bunch of documents or hand-written notes which meant things weren't consistent in stories. Now everything is all in one handy place and simplifies my operations.

Pros

Being able to view my entire written world in one place from timelines, to characters, and more. It's very important to me and makes life so much easier to manage, both real and the written imaginary ones. Helps me to keep facts straight without dragging out other docs or books.

Cons

Don't feel as if anything is missing at this time.

### "Plottr organized my story! "

November 18, 2022

5.0

The biggest problem Plottr solved for me was how to develop my outline for my novel which is exactly why Plottr was created I believe. I had tried several methods to keep my ideas organized and still flexible in the planning stage. I had used multiple note cards in various colors for different characters or acts or I had large sheets of paper with circles and arrows and lots of notes I couldn't read, and a MSWord document that just weren't working for me. Plottr is inexpensive and is a great way to get story ideas down "on paper" with the flexibility to move scenes around or to add scenes and keep track of fits of inspiration and genius as you develop your novel.

Pros

the outline feature that helped me visually "see" my story and allow me to make lots of notes in each scene. As my story developed or I had new ideas, it was easy to move scenes around and record new notes so there was order to my outline.

Cons

I wish there some way to easily export text from the scene section because sometimes I find myself writing the scene as the inspiration hits me instead of going to MSWord.

### "Plottr Rocks"

January 26, 2023

5.0

Plottr has cut down on paper notes and notebooks and is more fun to use. It makes writing a book easier and more flowing.

Pros

The aspects of Plottr that are most wonderful to me include that it enables me to be more organized in writing my books, there are numerous genre templates from which to choose, the beats generally have added information and are not just top tier outlines, inspirational pictures can be added almost anywhere--a sparkling feature, I love seeing the characters lined up, I really like how additional information can be added to the Outline, the beats are flexible drag and drop, help questions are responded to immediately, how to videos are phenomenal.

Cons

Some of the functions are still a mystery to me--just haven't figured them out yet or watched the matching video. I'd like to be able to incorporate chapters over the beats to see which chapters the beats should be in. Pictures can be dragged but not repositioned so if a person's face is not close to the left side, it's chopped off. I like the drag and drop of the Timeline but have not perfected its use yet, made mistake and can’t undo or get back to previous.

### "Beautiful easy visual outlining software for authors"

January 26, 2023

4.0

Easily the best outlining software.Fun to use between multiple devices. It's clean, colourful, creatively inspiring and is decluttered enough that I often find myself writing entire scenes and it mever gets messy.

Pros

Visually beautiful.Organise notes, colour code and declutter - Plottr is a great way to organise notes. Never has brainstorming been more fun and less messy.Love the ability to read notes by hoveringmPlottr Pro lets me seamlessly move between laptop and PC to continue working. There have been no sync issues as only one device can be 'in control' at a time.

Cons

Ability to zoom out - currently doesn't look great.Ability to 'favourite'/bookmark colours for bubbles, or to have a 'recently used' or 'other colours user in outline '.Scrolling for the same colour is a little tedious. Also Mobile app needs improvement.

### "MORE than a Plotting Tool"

January 3, 2023

5.0

Plottr helped me solve a MAJOR book organizing problem. I was overwhelmed with all the notes and ideas I had in physical notebooks, on my computer files, and as bookmarks. I tend to think visually so Plttr's format was the perfect solution! Yet, what makes Plttr great is how easy it is to create categories, attributes, tags and notes as a way to better organize my ideas. I also LOVE that Plttr was designed with the writer in mind. The templates and categories for "Location" and "Character" for example make it user friendly for writers. They get it! And they are always improving and listening to customer feedback to make their product even better.

Pros

What I love most about this software, aside from the excellent customer support and enthusiasm of the founders, is how multi-faceted Plttr is. I can use it for my writing projects AND for planning and organizing. Because of this, I now use Plttr more than any other program on my computer.

Cons

Plottr needs to fix the "undo" feature for the desktop version and improve that cut and paste feature as well. Whenever I try to cut and paste larger sections there can be delays.

Reason for choosing Plottr

I love to use Plttr more than Scrivener because I can visually see and physically move notes around easier. I can use Plttr not only for plotting (which it does a great job of, especially with their amazing templates) but also for planning and coordinating on so many levels. This feature is GOLDEN, because I can do more things in ONE place.

### "Great product for Plotters and Plantsters!"

March 22, 2023

5.0

Once I figured out the basic functions of Plottr, I really started enjoying it. \[sensitive content hidden\] was at a writing conference and he gave me some tips on additional ways to use Plottr and it has really helped me take advantage of the functionality Plottr has.

Pros

Plottr doesn't work the way my brain works. That's why I struggled with it at first. I've always done a traditional outline. Plottr forced me to break things down more than just an outline. I can actually see how the puzzle pieces fit and how a subplot fits into the story. Plottr has made it possible for me to actually write novel length fiction.

Cons

I wish the outlines were better. Or I wish there was a way to write an outline first and have that populate the timeline then use the timeline to fill in the blanks.
