### "Efficient and reliable software as an Architect."

July 12, 2023

5.0

A solid contender to other Architecture software. Well built up software!

Pros

Its features and solid layout. It shows that a lot of attention has been given to the development of the software.

Cons

It could be improved upon in the early sketch phase. Its complexity and feature sets also makes it less unobtrusive of the early design stages.

### "Autodesk Revit User Review"

June 18, 2025

5.0

I have been working with Revit for 9 years and it is a game changer comparing to other BIM softwares. It is straight forward and easy to use.

Pros

Being able to work in both 2d and 3d simultaneously is what I like the most about revit. I also like working on a shared file in the office which helps deliver projects faster

Cons

That the sorting/grouping when scheduling is limited which causes varies in some fields. This means taking the schedule to excel and filling in missing information manually.

### "Complicate algorithm lead to lot of problems"

November 28, 2022

3.0

I have few experience with Architectural model since I am a mechanical engineer. moderate experience in MEP drawing, but enough experience in families which I hate in Revit. Also I have 6 months in programming with Revit using C#, and I found the object oriented classes and objects are interfered to infinity (as I guess) where it can be in easy way, this core issues lead to the complication in Revit especially as I think, in families the procedures start to solve the parameters in a way lead to unsatisfied solution where it run properly.

Pros

Working without families, has few problems in piping connection especially (as mechanical). I think as from Architectural side few problems we have (such fix the model automatically for epsilon of errors), I create an add-ins using C# to fix this and find errors of an Architectural model or mechanical spaces.

Cons

The illogical behavior of some functions in families and contradictions, even in 3D presentation with thin metal sheets.

Reason for choosing Revit

mandatory

### "Revit is a Great Overall Software"

April 12, 2026

4.0

Pros

I like how everything is integrated together between the different disciplines when drafting. Any changes made to the mechanical systems (ie, location) will reflect also on the electrical and architectural plans.

Cons

I wish they would have more mechanical HVAC selections to choose from when doing a load calculation of the building. That way, we would not have to use another third party software to do load calculations and just do everything in Revit.

### "Revit: Best for Beginners"

January 9, 2026

5.0

It is by far the smartest software that an Architecture student can use. Especially when you are a beginner, the sheer knowledge that it gives for visualization is so clear. The pros easily outweigh the cons.

Pros

It is extremely dynamic and smart. It is the combination of AutoCAD and Sketchup in one. We can visualize the 3D while doing 2D. It's that smart and easy to work with. Proper value for Money.

Cons

For whatever reason, I disliked Revit while doing interior design. It felt too complicated while doing interior while doing exterior it is completely opposite.

### "Good tool for 3D design"

May 8, 2025

5.0

Very positive. I combine it with render 5D Render. One can create all possible constructions. There are many Revit objects and families, which can be downloaded for free from secure websites for the projects one works on.

Pros

It is relatively easy to work with. It is amazing how with just working in level, you can visualize the work in 3D in the same time. It works easily with render plugin such as D5 Render, which I use

Cons

It is complicated to edit complexed families. Some elements can be locked or are inflexible. The learning process takes time but once mastered it is very intuitive. The license price is high

### "Doesn't get better than this!"

July 18, 2025

5.0

I have used Revit for personal use, as well as using it through my schooling, and even taken classes that are solely focused on the Revit itself.

Pros

It does everything I could possibly want it to. I am constantly learning new features and and shortcuts. It is relatively easy to learn and vary well organized. It integrates seamlessly with a lot of other reprograms, even outside of Autodesk's own programs. Sharing and collaborating on projects is also made easy with Revit.

Cons

It can be harder than some programs to learn at first as the sheer amount of features can be over whelming. As this is a result of the needs that we have for the program, I don't hold this against Revit, although I do wish there was more tutorial options as I do find myself searching online or reaching out to collogues for tips and explanations of some features.

### "The essential "

December 18, 2025

5.0

Pros

When you need accurate BIM packages or manage materials take-offs, Revit is the essential. It allows great coordination between you and the construction service.

Cons

The software requires high performance, yet you may face slowness, especially with large architectural files. It also takes a long time to understand every aspect of using it well.

For specific projects the software has worked and BIM is a great tool. If the project is not complexed with a lot of other disciplines it may not be worth using.

Pros

The software is able to detect areas of conflict when developing the model. This will aid in eliminating expense change orders during construction.

Cons

Differently the upfront costs to implement the software into the design process. New powerful computers are a must along with competent staff.

### "The architecture and construction industry standard BIM software for a reason."

December 30, 2024

4.0

I often hear that people either love or disdain Revit in the architecture profession, but even with it's downsides there is a reason it is the industry standard for BIM because of its vast menu of capabilities.

Pros

Revit has many integrated features as a BIM software that makes difficult tasks on prior CAD software seem simple and finally attainable.

Cons

Where Revit is rich in feature based options and 'type based' sequencing, it can also feel too formulaic at times when needing to focus on the design side of a project.

### "Revit is worth the time to learn to use"

September 19, 2024

4.0

I am a decades long AutoCad user, switched to Revit in the last few years. The switch over was fairly simple. Working with models already created to manipulate them is quite intuitive, creating stairs, roofs and schedules is challenging.

Pros

The ease at which a building design can be changed, multiple ideas and concepts can be explored.

Cons

There are some simple tasks in AutoCad that are made much more difficult in Revit. The ability to create tables by just adding the data yourself is very difficult. Schedules in general are tricky to set up

### "An excellent tool if you are willing to invest the time. "

August 24, 2020

5.0

I've been using Revit Architecture since (I believe) 6.0 version I used as a student. I was actually recruited because of its knowledge which was relatively scarce in 2011. It a great BIM (building information model) software that can accomplish almost any design task. What sets it apart from say Archicad is that the built in content is scarce but the built in tools will let you design all the missing components. You might need a specific type of window, title block or dimension line - all of which can be adjusted so it fits your needs. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to develop this design environment and in the end you are totally invested and cannot switch. Still, once you get going it is great. Designing is very quick. Most options are easily visible and intuitive. The tutorials as I remember where great - you get to built a house from scratch and learn many tools. HVAC, electrical and Construction designers can do a model in Revit as well and combine with the architect. Faults in model can be spotted early. We have been using Revit Architecture for 10 years now and do not think about switching. Partly because the BIM competition is still weak and partly because now we have invested so much time that it would be hard to recreate all this experience again. But it is not a bad thing - our projects look good and designing is smooth. I can recommend Revit Architecture with a clear conscience though be ready to spend time creating your business-specific content.

Pros

\- Easy to learn (hard to master). And intuitive for the most part. - Family editor offer a basic programming syntax so you can design almost anything - many 1st and 3rd party addons to tailor the software - built in 3d views are basic but with ambient shadows and realistic material view they can be shown to the client as a in-progress model. Very convenient to have the possibility. Even in Revit LT (lite, addonless) - Updated every year. Often minor tweaks

Cons

\- Revit LT lacks (among other more important features) a tool to modify shape of a floor. Designing a 3d flat roof is almost impossible and your best bet is to draw flat lines (which defeats the purpose of BIM model) - certain families and certain corrections in the model will cause a disappearance of spot dimensions or regular dimensions. THe built-in error window will display something like "43 error" but you will never be able to locate all deleted annotations. - lack of quality content built in the software. You can create all the families (objects in model) by yourself but it takes time. So it becomes necessary that you have a designated person drawing specific families used in your company or you can depend on 3rd parties for that. The families that come with Revit are basic and often need adjustment -material schedules are not to be dependent upon. A single wall will have the same area of material that is both inside and outside but that is minor. If a wall is cut or joined with another object the volume will be double counted. At the same time any concrete elements in the wall will not be substracted from the wall material volume. Its best to avoid said schedules. - the tools for site planing are basic and often insufficient. A simple road on a slope can be a problem (unless you divide the plane into triangles) - No autosave function and "model hasn't been saved in a while" prompts. The save can take a couple of seconds sometimes but automatic would be better

Alternatives considered

[ARCHICAD](https://www.capterra.com/p/2018/ArchiCAD/)

Reason for choosing Revit

Ease of use, much better tutorial, Archicad has better content (e.g. windows, doors and other adjustable objects) but lacks an easy way to design new objects. Revit is the opposite. Revit has a larger English-speaking community.

It enables you to use one app to accomplish the work that would usually be allotted to multiple app users, which speeds up the work and requires less staff to use.

Pros

### "Revit has no Competition"

November 19, 2024

5.0

Very Happy with this Software. No other Softwares come close to Revit with the amount of functionality that it provides.

Pros

Revit is the best software when it comes to producing a full set of construction drawings. Revit works with 3D components so once you create a Model, you can acquire the plans, elevations and sections from that Model. It is a very convenient and user friendly software. Additionally there are plenty of useful plugins such as Enscape where you can produce high quality renderings.

Cons

Files can appear very large, typically at least 200mb. Fortunately there is a function where you may purge unwanted or unused items in the model.

### "Advantages of using Autodesk Revit in the Construction Industry"

March 30, 2022

4.0

Pros

What I like about the software is that it is very user-friendly and very straightforward to use. I have been an Autodesk Revit user for more than 7 years now and I have also used and explored other 3D authoring software, attended training and product presentations and I find the Autodesk Revit software easier to learn for beginners and the user interface is simple and complicated. The processes and workflow for other 3D authoring software are mostly long and complicated which can be confusing to new users and beginners which is I think is the key reason most companies in our industry prefer to use the Autodesk Revit software.

Cons

What I like the least about this software is that it is not backward compatible which is sometimes troublesome during the start of the project because Revit files that are saved by the latest version of Revit cannot be opened by the older versions which sometimes creates problems when the parties involved are using different versions.

### "Revit - A Tool In The Autodesk Toolbox"

June 13, 2022

4.0

Overall, Revit is a clean 3D architectural program that makes designing a breeze. It's build for what we need and accomplishes almost every task we ask it to.

Pros

Revit is exactly that, a tool. It's there when you need it as long as you know how to use it. It's been an important part of our business in landscape construction & development. The greatest part of Revit is that its integrated with the rest of the Autodesk products. I can swap back and fourth from AutoCad, to Revit, and render it in a different program with Photoshop. It can be used as a standalone tool but it's best integrated with the whole suite.

Cons

Revit is very intuitive to use but at times it's easy to get stuck when you're new and they don't have as much built in training as some of the other programs.

Reason for choosing Revit

Revit seemed to be the most put together program with accompanying tools such as Autocad and Photoshop, tools that we use frequently together.

My overall experience is great as I get to produce work for multiple industries in construction.

Pros

Features I like the most are the collaborative tools on Revit as they help me explore more ideas from other experienced users.

Cons

It should be designed in such a manner that interior designers can use it too. It is quite difficult for interior designers to use it because it is focused more on exterior designs.

### "Considerations about REVIT"

January 19, 2023

5.0

I use it a lot to develop architectural projects, I highly recommend the same for those who want agility and an increasingly professional delivery.

Pros

It allows us to create projects with a higher level of detail, visualizing everything that is needed before we deliver it to customers.

Cons

I have a lot of difficulty with Revit crashing, depending on the project, especially when it comes to buildings and businesses, it tends to be slow, even with a specific machine for it.

### "Designing the future of architecture with Revit."

April 20, 2023

5.0

The benefits I have achieved with Revit are many. From creating 3D models to generating construction drawings, Revit has allowed me to work more efficiently and accurately, which translates to higher quality projects and customer satisfaction. In addition, thanks to the ability to generate bills of materials, I have been able to reduce errors and improve decision making in terms of materials management.

Pros

The good thing about Revit is that it is a very complete tool that allows you to create detailed 3D models of buildings and structures, which makes the visualization of projects much more realistic and accurate. Plus, with the ability to work as a team, all project members can collaborate in real time and share their ideas and changes in a single file, saving time and reducing errors.

Cons

The bad thing about Revit is that its learning curve can be a bit steep. At first, it can be difficult to get used to the interface and the way of working in the software. Also, the file sizes can be very large, requiring a well-performing computer to run smoothly.
