“there is very little easy ways to fix it if you make an error early on , newer version cannot understnad when you are using an old version what AEC object are and how they are used, so it just does nto show things that are there , you need to understand why cause you may loose alot of hours if you do not impliment your command correctly or in the order which will not create errors .“

### "Autocad for design detailing"

September 21, 2025

4.0

Using autocad for design drawings has increased my efficiency to execute designs of the site. I have used autocad to create: floorplans, elevations, electrical drawing, ceiling drawing, false ceiling drawing. Once the drawing is properly detailed it can be very hassle free to execute it in the site as vendors and contractors can read it easily. It creates a language that acts as a bridge between different stakeholders.

Pros

1\. Autocad is one of the most used software in my field- Interior Design. 2. It is very efficient to detail the technical aspects of the design. 3. It is used to create drawings for constructions such as plumbing, electrical, false ceiling plan, floor plan, elevation contributing in project management. 4. The extensive variety of commands make it easy to use.

Cons

1\. It requires lot of time and practice to build efficiency and speed. 2. Its user interface makes simple designs complex. 3. The subscription cost is little on higher side, making it little expensive for some people who aren't using it on regular basis.

its amazing the ecosystem the compatibility and easy to use, i must say the ui is underated but its damm good.

Pros

The most i like about this product is it is acceptable around the world and its compatibility with most the high end 3d and bim software like revit, 3ds max the autodesk is like an ecosystem in which there products are interconnected the most is the coustom commands Feature oh man i love it like for everything we can create commands

Cons

There are two things i want to mention first the pricing its expensive for a fresher architect its impossible to buy it sometimes. secondly it sometimes lags in recovering the .bak files.

### "Essential for Electrical Engineering students, but still suffers from random crashes."

December 30, 2025

4.0

I use the Student Version for designing electrical systems and lighting layouts. While it is a powerful tool for precision drafting, the random freezes when inserting blocks can be very stressful when deadlines are close. However, being able to submit compatible .dwg files is essential for my university courses.

Pros

The access to the Student License with my institutional email is a lifesaver. For my electrical engineering projects, the layer management is perfect for separating lighting circuits from the architectural floor plan. It is the absolute standard in Panama, so mastering it is necessary for my career.

Cons

It has frustrating stability issues. Sometimes, even in simple files (like a small house plan), placing a single object/block causes the software to freeze indefinitely, forcing me to restart my entire PC. I also encounter a bug where I create a new object, but it simply doesn't appear on the screen, requiring me to do weird workarounds to make it usable.

### "Easiest to implement and most reliable CAD software"

November 23, 2024

5.0

I have been using AutoCAD for more than 14 years, and it has been crucial in every project we used it, both academically and professionally. However, in the last couple of years, I have started to migrate complex projects to Revit and maintain Interior works in AutoCAD.

Pros

Easiest to implement and most reliable CAD software in the market. Very versatile for early stages and even entire projects.

Cons

When developing large and complex projects, AutoCAD might not be the best alternative as you have to develop more drawings. If that is the case, you might want to go for Revit instead.

### "A design screwdriver"

September 22, 2024

4.0

Autocad is like a screwdriver, that you can sometime find outdated, but does always the work with some effort.

Pros

The consistency of a design tool evolving trough the years

Cons

The difficult management of the complexity and the still over-structured approach to print.

Alternatives considered

### "AutoCAD - Computer Aided Design Software"

March 31, 2025

5.0

AutoCAD is a software I use every day in my work. The company who produces AutoCAD, Autodesk, is corporation that provides software products and services for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, education, and entertainment industries. What I especially appreciate about AutoCAD is how Autodesk has structured the interface similarly to that of other software products, which makes it easier to navigate other software products I also use.

Pros

I use AutoCAD almost daily as an engineering professional. In my experience, I have found it to be one of the most widely used computer aided design software's in the world. This makes doing business with both suppliers and customers worldwide so much more convenient as we share CAD files and do not have to deal with exporting files to different filetypes, worry about inconsistencies between software features, or any of the other inconveniences that come along with working in two different software's.

Cons

Like most software's do, AutoCAD regularly goes through updates most years. In the last several years my experience is that the updates are subtle. However they may not always be super obvious and may take a little bit of a learning curve to understand without prior training.

Cons

### " Obsolete Choice"

October 6, 2024

4.0

AutoCAD is unquestionably costly and excessively confounded without huge updates, as seen from Photoshop CS2 to CS6 and more up to date programming. It feels obsolete, cumbersome, and disappointing for bigger drafting projects. It needs choices to accelerate work on multi-page projects, making undertakings more troublesome with additional means for specific apparatuses. A few instruments are superfluously mind boggling. Given its significant expense and stagnation in usability, we probably won't utilize AutoCAD long haul as it isn't developing into a superior plan device.

Pros

The Ideal Outdated ChoiceFor planning, drafting, and creative studios, AutoCAD LT is standard. It starts off with a moderate approach, but the variety of devices and flexibility quickly becomes overwhelming and exhilarating. AutoCAD is the standard tool used by our designing firm for interior plans and 11x17 standard-sized drawings for clients. We appreciate the easy-to-follow blueprint, excellent toolkit, low learning curve for necessary drafting, and default selections for strong introductions.

Cons

Without major improvements, AutoCAD remains extremely costly and unduly complex, as demonstrated by Photoshop CS2 through CS6 and more recent versions. For more involved drafting tasks, it feels antiquated, cumbersome, and irritating. Its lack of solutions to expedite work on multi-page projects makes activities more challenging by requiring additional steps for specific tools. Certain tools are overly complicated. We probably won't use AutoCAD in the long run because of its exorbitant cost and lackluster usability; it's not getting any better as a design tool.

Great experience. Program always did its job. And AutoDesk always had helpful pages when I ran into problems.

Pros

Can not say enough good about this program. I ran it for two years for running a CNC plasma machine. As far as software goes this is the best.

Cons

Really the only cons were occasional small glitches. But they were rare, and probably more due to the older computer that I was provided with.

### "AutoCAD is life"

November 27, 2024

5.0

AutoCAD has enabled me to bring my ideas to life and broaden my skills to create a career for myself working with the software professionally. AutoCAD can be learned by anyone and is a great entry into CAD software that can take you into the full range of AutoDesk products.

Pros

I love how versatile and useful AutoCAD is. I've been using it for over 10 years and I love that I always can find new and creative ways to use the software, both for personal hobbies and professional work. I love seeing my ideas come to life and interacting with them precisely to get the results that I want.

Cons

At first, there was a bit of a learning curve to AutoCAD. As it can be a big program, my computer had a bit of a hard time operating efficiently while running several programs at the same time, but this is due to mostly my own hardware restrictions at the time which I ended up resolving on my own.

### "Useful program for drafting, not as useful for "smart" coordination of engineering trades"

November 5, 2024

5.0

The program is useful for the creation of 2D drawings, with the purpose of hard-lining sketches within the computer- basically hand-drafting in a digital format.

Pros

The ability to draw up plans quickly and accurately. Very useful for sketching work and overlaying with other construction trades for coordination.

Cons

The lack of "smart" abilities within the software. AutoCADrelies on the ability of the user to draw what they can imagine, in comparison to other software on the market which have more 3D capabilities to create whole building models for coordination with engineering consultants and architect.

### "Engineering and Machining with AutoCAD"

September 3, 2024

5.0

I really like AutoCAD because it allows me to create drawings for my machine shop and helps the machinist see exactly what needs to be done with visual dimensions. Our machinists love the program because they say it's easy to illustrate an idea and it allows them to convert to many different files. Our customers love it because they are able to see the final product in visual before starting any work.

Pros

What I like most about AutoCAD is the ability to create blueprints for architectural designs and create 3D images of an engineering product / idea.

Cons

What I like least about AutoCAD is the difficulty to use and lack of help available within the program.
