### "User-friendly CAD design and editing software"

September 19, 2025

5.0

This program aids in my design flow and has become an invaluable tool. I would recommend this to everyone who is involved in design. It not only helps on the front end, but saves a lot of time if you just need to tweak 2D drawings created from giant 3D assemblies.

Pros

I like how easy and intuitive this program is. There is basically no learning curve, and even if you do get stuck, it has a convenient search bar that works well. There is also plentiful support to be found on the Autodesk community website. I use it daily to import and export DXFs and DWGs that work seamlessly with SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator. The last thing I will mention is how unique the selection tool is and how very helpful it is.

Cons

There really is nothing major that I dislike. There are a few minor things, such as not being able to have driving dimensional annotations, but that could be more of an intended choice. The only other thing is that it does not use the native file explorer very well, and sometimes it is a little tricky to find files on your computer inside the program.

### "Autocad for 2D drafting"

October 28, 2024

5.0

Overall experience is good and recommended for averyone.

Pros

.This is the most precise drafting tool ever made. Normally I use this tool for 2D drafting in civil engineering related drawings. Easy to use due to developed tool menus and also specially due to real world commands.

Cons

When it comes to civil engineering related 3d drawings, AutoCAD is not so user friendly when compared with Revit.

### "An Industry‑Standard Design Tool with Powerful Precision and a Steep Learning Curve"

April 16, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with AutoCAD was powerful and professional, but demanding. It’s an extremely capable tool that excels at precision and detailed drafting, making it well suited for technical, architectural, and engineering work. Once you’re comfortable with the interface and commands, it offers great control over drawings and is reliable for handling complex projects. However, that power comes with a steep learning curve and time investment. Getting up to speed takes patience, and even experienced users often rely on shortcuts, templates, and custom workflows to stay efficient. For simpler tasks, AutoCAD can sometimes feel heavier than necessary, especially compared to newer or more specialized design tools. Overall, AutoCAD delivers a robust and industry‑standard drafting experience that’s ideal for professionals who need accuracy and flexibility. It’s most rewarding when used regularly and for complex work—but may feel overwhelming for casual users or those with lighter design needs.

Pros

What I liked most about AutoCAD was its precision and versatility. It gives you a high level of control over drawings, making it ideal for creating accurate, professional‑grade designs across a wide range of industries.

Cons

What I liked least about AutoCAD was its steep learning curve and overall complexity, especially for new or occasional users.

### "A design screwdriver"

September 22, 2024

4.0

Autocad is like a screwdriver, that you can sometime find outdated, but does always the work with some effort.

Pros

The consistency of a design tool evolving trough the years

Cons

The difficult management of the complexity and the still over-structured approach to print.

Alternatives considered

[ARCHICAD](https://www.capterra.com/p/2018/ArchiCAD/)

Reason for choosing AutoCAD

I used in parallel. In the architecture studio I was collaborating with Archicad was a must use for big project design management. Autocad still has some pro and fits better product design approach.

### "Powerful, Precise, and Industry-Leading — But the Subscription Model Drove Me Away"

August 22, 2025

4.0

Overall, AutoCAD was an outstanding tool that delivered decades of reliable performance and was central to my work. It provided accuracy and capabilities that shaped the industry and justified its premium price. However, my experience ended once Autodesk shifted to a subscription-only model. Despite my significant financial investment over the years, I am now locked out of updates unless I agree to perpetual payments. For me, this business model overshadows the software’s strengths and has driven me away from using it altogether.

Pros

AutoCAD was an incredibly powerful and precise tool for technical drawing and design. It became the industry standard for a reason — offering accuracy, reliability, and a wide set of features that supported everything from architectural plans to detailed engineering work. The software was stable, professional-grade, and provided great value when ownership and upgrade options were available.

Cons

The move to a subscription-only model ended my use of the product. I originally purchased AutoCAD outright for over $6,000 and paid for every upgrade path for many years. That was a major investment in both time and money, which is now disregarded by forcing ongoing payments just to keep access. The subscription model feels unfair, erases the value of previous purchases, and shows little respect for long-term loyal users.

### "Autocad for design detailing"

September 21, 2025

4.0

Using autocad for design drawings has increased my efficiency to execute designs of the site. I have used autocad to create: floorplans, elevations, electrical drawing, ceiling drawing, false ceiling drawing. Once the drawing is properly detailed it can be very hassle free to execute it in the site as vendors and contractors can read it easily. It creates a language that acts as a bridge between different stakeholders.

Pros

1\. Autocad is one of the most used software in my field- Interior Design. 2. It is very efficient to detail the technical aspects of the design. 3. It is used to create drawings for constructions such as plumbing, electrical, false ceiling plan, floor plan, elevation contributing in project management. 4. The extensive variety of commands make it easy to use.

Cons

1\. It requires lot of time and practice to build efficiency and speed. 2. Its user interface makes simple designs complex. 3. The subscription cost is little on higher side, making it little expensive for some people who aren't using it on regular basis.

As an architect, AutoCAD is an essential tool for creating all types of drawings (floor plans, elevations, electrical layouts, ceiling plans, etc.). It is extremely useful, and I learned how to use it easily.

Pros

With its simplified interface, anyone can create any drawing they want, even if they have never used the program before.

Cons

Since my computer isn’t very powerful, my files occasionally suffer from bugs, particularly when working with large projects.

I have experience using AutoCAD as a Engineer; used the software to create 2D and 3D drawings of structural components and also t make revisions to existing designs.

Pros

unmatched precision, efficiency through digital tools (like blocks & layers), and powerful 2D/3D design capabilities,

Cons

Users frequently cite several drawbacks to AutoCAD, but the most common complaints center on its high cost and subscription model, a steep learning curve, and comparatively limited 3D modeling capabilities.

### "AutoCAD and Enginnering"

August 4, 2025

5.0

I find AutoCAD extremely useful in every aspect of life. Being a project engineer and having to delve into various aspects of drawings on a daily basis, AutoCAD is a go to for me. I started my drafting career in AutoCAD, and it will always be my go-to in the sense that the interface is easy to use.

Pros

It is most suitable for all forms Drawings in architecture as well as other engineering discipline. Also, it is user friendly in most cases, and the frequent update is worthy.

Cons

I find AutoCAD less useful and less meaningful while doing 3D works. It is not as smart as REVIT despite being from the same parent company Autodesk.

### ""A change of inaccuracy, to accuracy.""

December 2, 2024

5.0

AutoCAD has been a life changing experience for myself as I had so much fun with the detailing and accuracy of the line work. I also allows a flexible space in making inorganic shapes too ,not only a very geometric work space.

Pros

AutoCAD has had the best features that allowed for me to be a more detailed draftsman . It has allowed for me to utilize tools that have made tons of my projects quicker compared to ,having used tools and hands.

Cons

What I liked least about this software was the process of making 3D projects when I needed to use a software I was very well familiar with. It was also the size of the software , taking a lot of time to install.
