It is really good as an AI note taker. Does it save me a TON of time? Probably not a LOT, because I do review the notes carefully and sometimes have to edit them. But, do I feel more confident that I am not missing important things and that I could pass an insurance audit? Yes, 100%. I also think I am a better clinician because of it due to the insights after session for how I might do a better job in this area or that. Support is helpful when I have needed to reach out. They are continuously making updates, so I also feel confident that the product is getting better and better overtime. Pros I love that Mentalyc gives me very thorough notes that look like they would pass an audit. I am able to focus on my clients better in session since I don't have to take any notes when I want to remember something specific. I also like that Mentalyc keeps me on track with paperwork. Once the notes are complete, I can review and copy/paste them into my EHR at the end of the day, and then submit my billing. It keeps me organized. Cons I wish I could easily transfer templates that I want to use into Mentalyc so that it could capture exactly what I want it to during an intake for example. I wish it integrated with Simple Practice a little better. And, I wish that there was a way to make it not repeat so much stuff in notes. Sometimes the notes are way too long and this could be reduced by not repeating so many things in different sections. I love the ease of use, and the fact that I might never need to write another note again in my life. I'm never behind on notes anymore, and "writing my notes" is not a cognitive burden. I read them for accuracy, and edit as needed, but it's minimal effort. Pros It write better quality notes in less time than my writing them by hand. This saves me time, but also increased quality, and allows me to focus more during session on being with my client. Cons Integration with Simple Practice is not \*quite\* there yet. There is probably a way to set it up that I haven't done, but I simply copy and paste the note from one tab to another, and it gets the job done just fine. I haven't had any challenges transferring documentation from Mentalyc to Therapy Appointment. I highly recommend Mentalyc to anyone in the mental health field and encourage them a try it to see how much time it can save. I have already recommended Mentalyc to several colleagues, and they have also found great success using it! Pros What I like most about Mentalyc is how much time it gives back to me. The software significantly reduces the time I spend writing chart notes, allowing me to be fully present and engaged with my clients during sessions. The recording feature allows me to focus 100% on my clients’ challenges and struggles rather than trying to take extensive notes. The time I save outside of sessions allows me to focus more on developing treatment plans and identifying appropriate interventions to support my clients. Mentalyc has also helped me achieve a much better work-life balance. Cons I have not found too many cons with using Mentalyc so far. Occasionally, when updates are made, the templates I use get adjusted, and I have not always taken the time to go back in and make the necessary changes. I imagine that upgrading to the next subscription level may help address some of the challenges I have encountered. Otherwise, I think I simply need to spend more time navigating the website and learning how to better customize the features to meet my needs. Also, the clinical accuracy is right there with the time, because without that it would not be useable! Cons Some of the settings can get tricky when using it with telehealth. When working between Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge making sure I select the right window and audio sharing options can trip me up. Over the years their staff has been friendly and supportive whenever I have needed help. Pros I first started with Mentalyc because I liked how easy it was to use and also I liked the value for what they charge for the volume of notes I need to write. Over time, whenever I have needed something, like purchasing additional notes, their customer support has been fabulous. Their intake notes are extensive and detailed, which I like, and the program makes excellent treatment plans. I can easily organize my clients and update them as needed, so they get an "A" on client management. Cons I had issues with notes for working with couples. However, when I brought this up with their support team I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they responded to addressing the issue.
