Pros Love how well some of the notes will turn out picking up treatments used and rationals along with quotes to back things up. Cons I’m only getting about 60% of my actual sessions being recorded properly. Tech support has not been helpful because it appears to be just robot repeating the same thing over again and not actually acknowledging or addressing the issues. Recently there was a technical issue and the team kept us informed until it was resolved. That is excellent customer service. Pros This has been a game changer. July 8, 2024 4.0 It has given me my life back and decreased my anxiety around having solid notes. Pros Mentalyc is so easy. It’s an incredibly simple platform that operates effortlessly, like having an unbiased secretary keeping notes in every session. Online sessions are recorded as video or audio as well. The program interprets specific interchange between client and therapist with clinical terminology and interventions. The entire dialogue is transcribed. The recording is then erased after 30 days I believe. Cons Using it on my phone caused some issues and the sessions wouldn’t upload. So I don’t use it on iPhone anymore. Review Source DW DIANE W. I have referred it to so many people with a similar response. Pros Mentalyc helps me get my clinical notes done in no time at all. What used to take me 10-15 hours on the weekend now takes about 2-hours. Mentalyc is constantly upgrading their app and has one of the quickest responding customer service teams I've encountered. Cons This is a weak con, but I wish we could run spell-check for the transcribed notes/narratives AND the option to choose the country of origin. Licensed Professional Counselor Mental Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "A nearly perfect solution for a busy clinician" August 14, 2023 4.0 I have ultimately been incredibly blessed by Mentalyc as a productivity tool - evidenced by the fact that I have never been more busy with a full caseload as a clinician AND I have never been more on top of my therapy notes than now. I would recommend Mentalyc to any clinician looking to reclaim a large chunk of their time for self-care and decompression by spending less time figuring out how to express themselves in their therapy notes. Because the product is still young, I have faith that the hitches and kinks in their system are likely to be worked out with time and that the quality of the product will only continue to improve. I definitely plan to stick with Mentalyc as a lifetime user! Pros The ability to upload recordings of either the sessions themselves (or to upload a quick <5 minute recording of my general thoughts about the session) and let the AI scribe do the grunt work of expressing and organizing the major themes of the session has been life changing for me. Before, I had to spend several hours of my week - both in the office and even at home during what otherwise would've been my personal time with my family - just trying to catch up on my notes and figure out how to express what happened in session in an accurate, but succinct manner. As I'm sure you can see by my review, I struggle with succinct. Mentalyc has helped me reclaim my time by reducing the energy spent in trying to figure out how to express myself, keep it succinct, and keep it accurate by using the recordings of the sessions to create already very high quality and clinically accurate notes that I only need to make a few edits to! I believe it has reduced my mental load and made it much easier to focus on my clients needs. I think this will definitely help stave off compassion fatigue and burnout- which alone is worth the $70/month, in my humble opinion! Setup is easy, uploading is easy, and editing is easy. Integrating the product into my practice is effortless, since all I have to do is just copy-paste what I've already edited into the text field of my EHR. Cons The only things I have any real gripe about are the very occasional server instabilities - which is to be expected for a relatively young startup - and what I interpreted as an evident lack of support. Several times over the last month or so of my trying this program out, I submitted basic questions (which I ultimately figured out on my own) through the chat support and email support, but never received any response back. Today, I finally managed to reach the \[sensitive content hidden\] of Mentalyc through the live chat feature and she was VERY responsive and helpful to me in spite of my initial unprofessionalism (a moment of weakness and self-indulgence when I thought I was only talking to a bot responder). I learned that the support team is a skeleton crew that is likely overwhelmed by the amount of support required for their customers - not realizing how popular the app would grow in such a short amount of time. While the support situation is still largely unsatisfactory due to systemic bugs seemingly blocking support requests from being received by the support team, the fact that a support team DOES exist and DOES respond when they receive requests has alleviated some of the frustration and anxiety I have had about future support needs. " September 17, 2023 5.0 Pros As a solo practitioner, I wish I would have known about Mentalyc sooner. Running my practice and everything that comes with it makes it difficult to juggle keeping notes up to date, bookkeeping, insurance billing, helping clients in crisis, etc. Mentalyc has been immensely helpful in alleviating stress associated with case notes. I can quickly dictate between sessions and upload it on to the app before I settle in for my next session. I am more engaged during the time I spend with clients as I’m not keeping mental notes of all of the previous clients of the day. Being able to upload my dictation and it be transformed into a perfectly formatted DAP Note saves a lot of time. I am able to spend my time more freely and not hunched over my laptop for hours. I can focus on self-care and making sure I show up as the best therapist for my clients. Cons There isn’t anything that I hate or don’t enjoy about Mentalyc. It has been so helpful for me both personally and professionally. At times, I have had to edit the note and make sure there weren’t any words missing or correct punctuation. I am still having to spend way too much time editing my notes that are being generated by the system. Pros I appreciate several features; I wish the DAP and SOAP notes could be utilized for my full sessions. I want the software to begin creating a "group therapy" note template. I want to begin to allow my other staff members to use this, but until I cannot fully understand it, I will not have my staff members within my private practice using the software. This is amazing software; I just want it to be more useful for all sorts of sessions that I engage in. The following would be nice to see added:1. Crisis Session Note Template2. Group Therapy Note Template3. DAP and SOAP for full-length sessions4. An actual BioPsychoSocial Intake Template5. Family Therapy Note Template6. Update the Couples Therapy Note Template7. If some sort of guideline can be created for the clinicians surrounding some of the terms that should be utilized during the sessions to ensure that the transcript is able to complete an accurate note. Cons I do not like the type of templates that are being offered. The Basic Progress Note Template is too vague, and I feel that it repeats itself. This product makes it much easier and as time has gone on the program has evolved and improved and the notes are higher quality now than they have ever been before. I've been using this product for 6 to 12 months and I can really say that this is a game changer as it allows me to see more patients than I would be able to have seen previously. the notes are more insurance compliant than notes I would previously write making me less susceptible to audits. It also saves me a bunch of time which is scarce and extremely valuable for me Cons Identifying specific interventions that the therapist is using could be improved, however it has improved a lot since initial iterations of this program. It’s almost like gaining time to spend with clients, and also less time at the office. Not only has it helped with time management, but Mentalyc has created a cohesive system for organizing my notes in a professional and unified way. Mentalyc has definitely been a game-changer in the efficiency of my personal practice. Cons I have had a few issues with the recording device built into the software and unfortunately lost several sessions. However, the customer service team is prompt with help. Most of the time the notes that are generated are accurate and need limited corrections. I also appreciate the tech-support and timely responses when I send in questions or have needed support. Pros I love how much easier it is for me to complete progress notes. It doesn't take me nearly the amount of time that it used to. I appreciate the accuracy most times that this program provides when it comes to my progress notes. The idea at the end of the day I go home, and all my paperwork is completed, is such a big deal. I no longer feel like I'm caring around a burden knowing that I have progress notes to do. Cons When the AI gets it totally wrong, it's very frustrating, and yet it's simple for me to dictate a note then and then upload it to get it corrected. I know that they are working on continuing to better their product so I am sure with time it will get better. Reason for choosing Mentalyc Upheal seemed to be more complicated in getting things going. Their consent form was weird. I didn't want to invest the time it seemed it was going to take. It was quite easy to learn and use daily without missing a beat. Pros I can't stress how much time this has saved me already. It is impossible for me to be as thorough as I'd like to be in the short time it takes me to generate a note with this software. I can generate all my notes for the day's sessions at the end of the day and edit them for accuracy if needed in less time than it would take me to create a single note with this level of important detail. It is able to recognize multiple client voices, and even recognize the model or theory that I'm using in session with shocking accuracy. I am a good clinician, but the mental energy it takes to basically write a short essay about every session becomes taxing. I love that I can dictate by speaking naturally about the session as if I was telling a supervisor what happened. The AI puts it in to a cohesive format. I always edit, and editing is so much more time effective and less taxing than creating the note from scratch. I'm hooked! Cons I don't utilize the session recording feature, which is one of their main features. I feel uncomfortable even broaching clients to be recorded.
