## What is nPro?

nPro offers a planning software for district energy systems. It helps urban planners and district design engineers to plan and size district heating and cooling networks, microgrids as well as hybrid energy systems. The tool is available at www.npro.energy and has three core functionalities: 1) Generation of demand profiles,2) simulation of district heating networks, 3) sizing of hybrid energy systems with renewable energies, seasonal storages, hydrogen, heat pumps and many more technologies.

Für meine Masterarbeit war das Tool sehr hilfreich und ich würde es definitiv weiterempfehlen.

Pros

nPro ist wirklich einfach zu handhaben und das Tool hat eine tolle und benutzerfreundliche Oberfläche, die für jeden Anwender geeignet ist. Man kann viele unterschiedliche Parameter anpassen und kann somit auf einfache Weise die Sensitivität untersuchen. Außerdem deckt das Tool vielfältige Energiesysteme ab und kann in vielen Anwendungen genutzt werden.

Cons

Ich hatte allerdings Schwierigkeiten beim Einlesen eigener Last- und Erzeugungsprofile und musste die Standardeinstellungen von nPro übernehmen. Damit weichen die Ergebnisse von den realistischen Werten etwas ab.

Pros

Es ist super simple zu bedienen. Deutlich leichter für Quartiere zu nutzen als z. B. Polysun.

Cons

Manchmal wird bei Berechnungen die Wärmepumpe fast nicht berücksichtigt, obwohl dies unsere Hauptwärmelieferant sein soll und BHKW und Kessel nur für Spitzenlast ausgelegt sein soll. Hier wäre eine Option zum anklicken wünschenswert.

Youtube-Tutorials für Neueinsteiger zum Auslegung und Planen von Energieanlagen

Cons

Ich bin soweit zufrieden. Vielleicht könnte man zu Beginn die Benutzeroberfläche noch etwas eindeutiger gestalten und mit Begriffen wie Fernwärmenetz etc. arbeiten. Damit man für jedes Projekt sofort weiß, was man anklickt. (Auch wenn man mit etwas logischem Denken schon durchkommt :))

Die größten Vorteile von nPro sehe ich in der simplen Struktur des Tools. Mit wenig Aufwand sind viele Informationen zu erhalten.

Cons

Ist für einen ersten Überblick oder eine erste Einschätzung von Systemen geeignet. Nicht für die Simulation von wirklich zu realisierenden Projekten, da hier die Komplexität der Realität (Regelung/Steuerung) nicht abgebildet werden kann.
