Business Development and Sales manager Telecommunications Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "WORST email marketing software provider" April 19, 2017 1.0 I have been using Campaigner for more than 3 months and my experience started nice and ended awful. They charged me even when I sent them an email to cancel my subscription. They would not refund me claiming that they never received my email (which were messages from their customer support platform). When I sent them screenshots proving to them that I sent the messages and for some unknown reason they didn't receive it they opened a refund request. Initially it would take 3-5 working days. I followed up more than 5 times and after 20 working days they informed me "Your refund request has denied by our Finance Department because you did not call into cancel till 03/21/2017 which was 13 days into your bill cycle. This decision is final." The tone is unprofessional and this is not how to treat a customer especially when you have mistreated him. From their point of view, I should have 1) predicted that they would charge me wrongly, 2) checked my account the next day and 3) called them right away to complain. This is not a company to do business with. I have been in the industry for many years and it's the second time I feel I was scammed. I will be moving to another ESP and find my peace. Hope my experience can help you avoid making the same mistake as me. Cons I like the template choices but I would love to see more construction themed templates directly in the product. Pros The customer service is excellent. You'll get an English-speaking person who totally knows the product and will be able to help you the first time. They are typically not rushed, so if you need to have them stay on the line while you work something through, they will. Cons We're on a monthly plan, so we pay even if we don't send anything in a month. It's probably cheaper than paying as we go, but I hate to pay a bill when I know I didn't use the product that month. Given the complexity of the migration, the process went well. Not perfectly, but the issues I had were addressed by their excellent support team. My main concern with Campaigner is the quality of the interface. The entire campaign design and send process could be more intuitive. Pros Campaigner offers a lot of flexibility in designing emails. There are numerous templates, but you can also design your email from scratch. Their dashboard gives you a nice overview of how well your email blasts are working. Campaigner's customer support is excellent. Although we are a relatively small customer, they are quick to respond to question and have never failed to address a problem. Cons The Campaigner interface is not the most user-friendly. There are also many little glitches that, for example, make it difficult to determine exactly how many active subscribers I have. I can usually get the information I am looking for, but sometimes get conflicting answers and have the jump through hoops to figure out which number is correct. The ready to use templates are very useful for different promotions, seasons and other themes that may apply. Cons The only issue with the ready to use templates is if I wanted to customize these templates to any significant degree I would run into formatting or spacing issues. I am sure that a programmer can fix this but I am just a simple user who does not know a lot of code. Pros The ability to quickly and efficiently frame and then launch a communication to my customers is an essential element that Campaigner brings to the table that is invaluable. This combined with Campaigner' exceptional reporting capabilities provide me with a comprehensive tool that is usable and effective. In addition, the flexible monthly billing cycle allows me to align my marketing costs with the revenue generating activities that Campaigner aids us in driving. Lastly, the Campaigner platform is provided at a superb price point. Every campaign pays for itself in short order. All told, it is by far the best use of my limited marketing dollars. My experience with Campaigner is purely as a freelance agent so I have not used ALL of the functionality it offers. The UI is intuitive. The site loads fast. I've chatted with a rep and they were helpful. Cons Occasionally, there are page load errors that cause you to reload but it's infrequent so I don't mind much. Pros If I just stick to the same template and write and send an email things work just fine. Cons I'm not a very tech friendly person so I usually do the same things over and over again. I don't try to change our template because I don't have a clue how to do it. Adding photos to an email is really difficult. It takes me about half an hour to figure out how to add a picture. It's so frustrating sometimes I just give up. Adding a link is something I'd like to do more often but again, trying to figure out how to do it takes up so much time I just forget it. Campaigner has a vast set of tools to allow us to customize our emails with personalized information. The reports and analytics are best-in-class. We use this for internal communications in a large (10,000+ employees) company with offices spread across the U.S. I'd recommend taking with a grain of salt reviews from a person (who clearly posted twice) who is too disorganized/lazy to end their free trial. The fact that Campaigner gives s 30-day free trial is, by itself, a really good feature for those trying it out. Just make sure you're not too lazy to cancel if you no longer want the service.
