### "Best product for TeamWork"

June 4, 2020

5.0

I use this product every day for the coordination work of DevOps Team and tracking our tasks, issue, and other our activities.

Pros

This is the best product on the IT market because it has a user-friendly interface and the best technical documentation then I have seen before.

Cons

I haven't found any critical issues with Jira. It's so stable software. If you used official documentation for installation you never get problems

Reason for choosing Open DevOps

Because It is so good software for Team with a user-friendly interface for everyone and with the best price on the IT market.

### "Excellent - but server version's admin overhead too large for a small team "

October 15, 2019

5.0

A small business team of 5 development staff used JIRA for a number of years very successfully. We relied on it daily to plan and manage our software development tasks. For medium to large teams of software developers, I would highly recommend it. But for a small team like ours the admin overhead to keep it up-to-date with plugins and complex update release processes which usually meant some downtime, was too much.

Pros

Very customisable, server version great for installing in house, integrates well with other software such as Confluence. Fast and effective project and development management software. Excellent support.

Cons

Steep learning curve. Admin overhead too big in the end for a small team to keep core product and plugins up-to-date.

### "Not sure why it is the industry standard but at least it works most of the time"

December 9, 2018

3.0

We started using JIRA because it was the industry standard and most of our developers used it before. It has a lot of quirks though and I wouldn't really recommend it.

Pros

Once set up, it is easy to use and offers a lot of options to customize it to our processes.

Cons

JIRA is very difficult to set up and configure correctly. Support is inexistent. In one instance, an issue got deleted by some JIRA quirk, we lost all billable time tracking associated to the issue and JIRA never even tried to investigate or let us know what happened or what we could do about it. There are also outages on a regular basis or parts of the system not working, or working differently for members of the same team.

### "Easy to start with and plenty of features to explore"

March 31, 2022

5.0

We use it for project managment with our code repository linked to it and its working excellently for us. All what we needed.

Pros

It is very easy to learn. When I started first I thought it will be difficult but this wasn't the case. There are loads of features and options to explore and work with that makes your daily job of project management so much easier.

Cons

Integration tools need a little more work.

### "Strong candidate for agile/scrum teams"

April 17, 2020

5.0

Overall, I see it very functional for our organization as it's an excellent way to keep track of all the changes/updates/improvements in a top-down manner: starting from user story and ending in the code changes.

Pros

I see JIRA as a strong match for agile programming. I like the ability of the sprint management, easy filtering of the Canvas board by multiple filters (like name/component/etc.). I also like that it can be integrated with GitHub: - I can see all the commits and pull request associated with the story (and it saved there forever) - The stories automatically flow in the sprint canvas boards when the status of the pull request associated with the story changes.

Cons

A lot of bureaucracy is required for opening a new JIRA story/bug/feature/etc. I understand that this inevitable, yet, it's very confusing at the beginning and requires some learning curve to get into the software.

### "Good ticketing system for developers - anyone else like us marketing guys might be overkill"

June 14, 2018

3.0

Good software, lots of options and something developers can use. Might be too much for anyone other than a software developer to use - like a marketing team or someone else not technical.

Pros

Good robust system with a lot of options and control, easy to use for Sprints and Agile frameworks and for software developers.

Cons

May be a bit over the top for others when they need a simpler system. In marketing, we use the Kanban board but it's overkill - something simpler like Trello or Asana might do better for us.

### "Very powerful but time consuming administration is required"

January 16, 2019

4.0

Managing code issues and keeping track of support tickets works very well with JIRA when you configured it correctly but finding the right configuration takes a lot of time.

Pros

The interface is appealing and JIRA has a lot of features that you can use to customize your workflows

Cons

Using the self-hosted version and integrating it with other tools of the Atlassian family (like Bitbucket or Confluence) is not as easy as it seems. You need to spent a lot of time in setting up the integration to get an almost seamless workflow. Additionally JIRA and the other Atlassian tools use a significant amount of resources even when they are used not very frequently.

### "I work with JIRA daily as a Technical Project Manager of a Dev Team."

January 11, 2018

4.0

JIRA allows me to run / monitor software development projects with a team of 6 developers. It helps keep everyone on-task as well as gives me the opportunity to plan into the future sprints. As a certified SCRUM Product Owner I also love the ability to output cards for each job / task. I also love that JIRA is linked with Confluence to help us document changes that are made as well as HipChat to keep our teams talking constantly.

Pros

I love JIRAs ability to interact with both HipChat and Confluence. I also love the ability to run 2 week sprints with my team and easily see the progress of each of their tasks.

Cons

"JIRA Spam" - I am an admin user at my current job and enter a lot of the tasks myself. Due to that I am a 'watcher' on most all of our tickets. I would prefer to receive less email communication regarding the status updates of each task. There are so many emails that they tend to be ignored due to over communication.

### "I always convince companies to use Jira because"

June 9, 2021

5.0

I love everything about Jira.. I have been using it for many years now so I can not imagine any workday without Jira. I am currently working as a software developers team leader/scrum master and in our company, no one used Jira before I came here. So I convinced everybody that we really need Jira to work more effectively, to improve productivity and the quality.. and yes, it was a lifesaver during the coronavirus lockdowns while everyone was working from home.

Pros

awesome tool for agile software development everything can be customized easy to use

Cons

it can be quite expensive for smaller companies

### "Excellent web based sprint planning and estimation tool"

October 25, 2019

5.0

Excellent sprint planning tool helping create current and future sprint via epic story and tasks. Good change request tracking and reporting tool. Tight integration with code configuration as well.

Pros

The tool provides rich features of capturing all possible attributes of a task in a project and provide the analytics on the burn and velocity of a sprint for a given team.

Cons

Visual appeal can be improved. Some functionality on the reporting can be improved and make it more prediction nature.

### "Essential for managing high performing development teams"

April 22, 2020

5.0

Have used JIRA for almost 10 years as an engineer within a multidisciplinary team. Some recent updates, such as the paired developers feature, are particularly welcome and seem to have come from user feedback.

Pros

Required for modelling roadmaps and feature development within software development teams. Roadmap views motivates the team to complete tasks and move tickets across swimlanes

Cons

Flexible to different project types, however the number of high number of options can confuse new joiners

### "Jira is a complete project management tool, full of sometimes useless functionality"

May 12, 2022

3.0

I used it occasionally in our projects, mainly to exchange with other teams like developers and project managers, but not to collaborate with my own team

Pros

Easy to set up, with lots of functionality. Suitable for any type of project and method, such as Agile.

Cons

The tool is a bit difficult to handle with all its features. It is not necessarily suitable for all professions, for example, for designers: It is not easy to consult the evolutions of assets and to give comments.

### "For Client Support: Helpful & Efficient"

January 17, 2019

4.0

As a support representative, JIRA has been a great resource for troubleshooting development problems that arise & are being worked through. While my experience with JIRA might not be the most in-depth as the next man, I appreciate the quickness with which I can access JIRA items through searching & the accessibility it provides to non-developers who need pertinent information.

Pros

JIRA presents its information in a neat, clean UI that's mostly user-friendly. The searching function is quick and efficient, pulling the information I need within the top 10 results nearly 100% of the time. JIRA is a great resource to use across any project. While this software might be catered to developer workflow, it's ease of access allows me to use it regularly as a research tool.

Cons

It won't take long for you to become overwhelmed with the number of places an item might reside within JIRA -- there seem to be a vast multitude of sections and drop-downs, both at the top and the lefthand side of the web page. If consolidated into one place, the UI may appear a lot cleaner, and this could streamline user workflow. However, as it stands, you can likely find what you need by searching.

### "My experience using JIRA"

April 12, 2019

5.0

In my personal experience as software developer. I've used this platform to track all the bugs and new features I'm working on. I usually use the status, the estimated time and GIT plug-ins.

Pros

I'm a software developer and it's a wonderful platform which helps me to have a detailed description of my tasks. Additionally, the charts are really useful to visualize how the team is managing their time and the projects.

Cons

There are lots of hidden fields, which might be confusing.

### "JIRA Review"

July 9, 2019

5.0

JIRA allowed comprehensive communications between various departments (i.e. designers, developers, graphics, testing, QA) so that everyone knew the status of "events" real-time.

Pros

In my role as a Project Manager for software development, the developers used JIRA to manage the development cycle and we jointly use JIRA for problem reporting, testing, quality control and resolution. JIRA provided and tracked the information between groups so there was no confusion as to the status of a particular issue or trouble ticket. The ability to review "tickets" and see the status was very beneficial from a management perspective.

Cons

There was somewhat of a learning curve just to get started but that improved with repetition. Although I was not directly involved with setup and configuration, that seems to be a little more complex than originally though.

### "Good product for collaborative tracking of requirements/changes in Agile"

December 16, 2019

4.0

While Agile is a Good product for collaborative tracking of requirements and to track code changes for IT applications, it is found lacking functionality for tracking Agile projects compared to AgileCentral.

Pros

Good product for collaborative tracking of requirements. It is also a useful tool to track code changes for IT applications

Cons

Several features for granular breakdown of requirements and incremental progress tracking are missing for tracking Agile Life cycle.

### "Very powerful but requires more time setting up"

October 25, 2021

5.0

As a designer, I use Jira to work with product manager and developers to collaborate for product development and it's been great to us as long as there are people dedicated to setting up an existing/new process and maintaining it.

Pros

Full control over every angle of the process. The UI/UX of Jira is getting better and better over time

Cons

Requires a lot of time setting up the process and maintaining it. Training is almost a must if you want anyone to understand how to use it correctly. The performance of Jira in web browsers can be quite poor from time to time.

### "Good for tracking bugs and features, but definitely not a project management tool"

May 8, 2019

3.0

It often feels clunky to use, but it is useful for collaborating with developers and tracking development efforts. However, there's still plenty of room for improvement.

Pros

It has a good API, good integrations, is highly customizable, and is pretty good at tracking features, bugs, and backend tasks.

Cons

Navigation is cumbersome and its often difficult to access various functionality. Their search is powerful, but geeky and difficult to use; a simple universal "search everything" box as the default would be better than their syntax-heavy search approach. However, the most frustrating aspect for me is the total lack of label management (labels are Jira's version of tags, but they are not editable as relational objects). Some development teams also try to use it as a project management tool and it just isn't great for that.

### "Robust project planning...takes time and thought"

May 30, 2018

5.0

Jira has helped me successfully manage a team of engineers and developers to launch products and see them go out into the world. Couldn't ask for much more from a PM tool!

Pros

Jira has so many different features and add-ons that it's really capable as a project planning tool - regardless of the types of projects you're working on. Fortunately, they have some great blogs, communities, etc. to help you on your way.

Cons

As with all flexible software, the flexibility comes as a result of functions and features that are built in. Because there's no "one-way" for novices, Jira can be overwhelming.

### "JIRA for project management"

March 18, 2021

5.0

It has been a great tool and made the lives of lots of developers, product managers super easy in order to track weekly/monthly, or quarterly progress and how many hours were spent on a project or task.

Pros

\- Tagging issues with epic names helps in tracking and better management of tasks. - Great integration with github so you can see commits and Pull requests. - can be integrated with apps like confluence, slack, confluence. - different stages to track issues like progress, review, production.

Cons

\- Every time clicking on a link opens up in the same tab, there should be an option to setup open links in new tab. - tracking History of an issue UI is a little weird and can be improved.

Reason for choosing Open DevOps

Trello. Trello is great for small projects/company whereas JIRA serves the purpose of large-scale projects and teams.

### "good project management software for Enterprises"

March 8, 2019

5.0

as mentioned earlier, it is the steep learning curve that can deter users and hence we needed to retain their enthusiasm while training by showcasing some of the great functionality of this tool.

Pros

It is a very good tool for project management especially tracking project steps at a very detailed level and workflows for the various steps in the project can be incorporated into this software. It also facilitates communication with the all the members involved in the project when configured. Helps devops environment very well.

Cons

Since this software can get into great granularity, there is a very steep learning curve involved for users to get started with this great product. While it takes time to train users and get them comfortable, once they are past the learning curve, they seem to really enjoy using this tool.

### "Best in category"

January 25, 2019

5.0

I used Jira when assigning jobs. I like the fact that i could add a person to a job and they would receive the notification along with myself. So if i were away i knew i had a backup person who got the job requests. Maybe this has changed but I liked how all versions were kept together and you didn't have to scroll thru page after page to find a an older upload. I finally I liked how a creative project would then go on to the dev team to be coded and released.

Pros

Its been a few years since i've used Jira but after using other programs this one still stands out as the best. Easy to use, easy to track jobs and upload and great notification qualities. Can be used across the company from Creative teams to Development

Cons

I resisted using it for my team due to the fact that it looked too complicated but once our Dev manager ran thru it with me i saw just how easy it was to use.
