Pros: Without a doubt, IconCMO's customer service is the best I've encountered. We've always found them willing to take time, very knowledgeable and friendly, easy to contact by phone or email, and incredibly responsive. If they can't answer our question immediately, they get back quickly, almost always that day. They even willingly consider suggestions and have made multiple enhancements to help solve our needs.

IconCMO is web based so we can use it wherever there's an internet connection. They allow an unlimited number of users, even at the same time, without any extra charge. Working collaboratively or in parallel from different locations is invaluable.

Another feature we appreciate is emailing contribution statements. It saves the time and expense of snail-mailing and our congregants get their statements instantaneously.

IconCMO is a very robust system that does an excellent job of addressing our accounting needs. Its amazing flexibility allows us to tailor the system to our own congregation's operations. We use a large number of funds, one for each fundraiser, committee, and social justice effort and each has its own budget, income tracking, and record of expenses, so it's easy to see how each is doing at any point. Once an activity is complete, it's easy to transfer the proceeds of the activity to the General Fund or disburse it to the appropriate organization. Other congregations may not want as many funds, but IconCMO allows each to design their own.

Cons: Probably due to its great flexibility, IconCMO is not that intuitive. Their Help and Support Forum are useful and their customer service is superb but some people find it a little hard to navigate their way around.

Overall I have been very pleased with the quality and functionality of IconCMO.

Pros: After getting over the inevitable learning curve I have found the software to be quite user friendly. The contribution module is one of my favorites because I'm able to easily reconcile contributions and issue professional looking statements quarterly. I like the fact that contribution detail can be directly imported from a comma delimited file. That saves a lot of data entry time. One click and the cash and check contributions for the week are entered in the system. Check writing is a breeze, as is making journal entries. Our organization takes advantage of the integration with Vanco Payment Solutions. This has been an one key to our financial success as we receive a large percentage of our donations via online and text giving. Importing contribution detail directly from Vanco is another great time saving feature. I really like the ability for multiple users to have access to the system. Each user's access to various aspects of the program can be granted on an individual basis. We have a separate individual can log on and is responsible for reconciling the bank statement. This is important internal control and separation of duties. The fact that the system is cloud based allows it to be accessed from any location, at any time. Technical support has been outstanding. In the early stages I called with some pretty challenging issues, each of which were resolved quickly and professionally. If there are better systems out there I'm not aware of them.

Cons: Not a lot of cons from my perspective. It would be nice to be able to "drill down" to the underlying detail from the financial reports. Also, it may be a necessary evil but having to enter then post transactions seems a bit cumbersome.

Overall: Accurate, fund based accounting with contribution tracking and reporting.

Pros: My favorite thing about ICON is that we can record visits with members. We also appreciate that it integrates membership data with financial so that all of our record keeping is in one place. The cloud is great because our volunteers can access it from their homes. I like that I can add significant dates like baptism & confession of faith. I like that I can access it from my phone. I appreciate that we can attach photos to names. The best part is that we can give out different passwords with different levels of access,.

Cons: I find printing the reports I want to print difficult. It would be nice to have better search features - so that I could search for anyone who was baptized on a certain date. Or I could search for people with a certain spiritual gift. It is also hard to create different types of connections between members - I wish there was a way you could connect extended family without making them a household. The financial set-up is confusing to people who do finances for a living. I also wish that we always had access to an empty example that we can use for discussion and training without having to sign in to real data to do this. Also the turn-over of fiscal year might be nice if this could be done by multiple type of users.

Overall: We appreciate that this software doesn't require computer expertise to run. We also appreciate the integration of our membership records with financial so that we can keep all things in one place. It also works well with a volunteer run congregation - people can access records from home with a personal sign-in that gives them access to only the data they should have access to. It does need better integration though of the minor items like homebound visit records showing up under the member's individual record. And an improved search capability would be nice.

Pros: Much of the recording of members' contributions is automatic -- fields are populated as one moves from envelope to envelope. When a member forgets to indicate their envelope number, that information is just a click away, given the membership list that's side-by-side with the entry form.

Year-end statements are easily formated and printed, ready for folding and putting into envelopes.

The ability to print membership lists for all sorts of categories is phenomenal. Being able to combine "active" and "Inactive," "Prospect,," etc., membership lists for mailing purposes is very helpful, not to mention the mailing label format. We also sort mailing labels before printing into various "zones," viz., Route 1, Route 2, Box Nos., etc., and this is a great boon for our local post office. It is easy to keep track of members' "significant dates," ages, and so much more. CMO offers a treasure-trove of information available at a mouse-click.

Cons: Upon entry of contributions, going from "check" to a "cash" contribution is ONE click, but going back to "check" from "cash" takes three clicks -- just a minor irritation, really, and one gets used to the procedure.

Overall: We can easily keep track of contributions from members/non-members, generate statements of giving at any time -- but mostly annually, and have a complete handle on membership: change of status, addresses, telephone numbers, significant dates (birth, baptism, marriage, death), and more. To do this with paper and pencil would be very burdensome, not to mention the cost in terms of time and person-power.

The ability to classify individuals into assorted categories, and then, at will, to combine them for, say, mailing purposes is super. In addition, our post office appreciates our bringing in bulk-mail material all "pre-sorted" by routes, in-town, box, out-of-town delivery. This speeds their sorting work and gets our mail out to the membership with dispatch.

Pros: Online access! We love multiple people having access from multiple places at the same time. It's integrated - we can move in and out of finance, membership, contributions easily and everything is available. It's comprehensive - we've been using the program for 5 years and there are still parts of the program we haven't begun to use effectively.

Cons: It's so comprehensive...we just don't have the human resources to figure it out and input the data for using some of the activities/skills areas. Mostly we just don't. Therein lies the value issue. I feel we pay for a lot of things we don't use. And, truthfully, for a small congregation we're paying a lot for the convenience of online access. That is, we could play a flat fee for software that resides in our system (not on the cloud) and use it for years, but lose the convenience of online access. For a parish of 200 or fewer active households, it would be difficult to afford - we are able because the parish is affluent. As Pastor, I used both the online and software version in my previous parish for 5 years - St John Lutheran Church, Riverton, WY.

Overall: Convenience, flexibility, accuracy, and access from home, office or a laptop on the other side of the world.

Pros: I love how you can use one program and website for so many different processes. Linking the different features together for using in the great variety of reports is wonderful. The ability to mass email and export information is so easy. Being able to link to outside vendors for different purposes is a nice option if needed. Having the online back up is such a great peace of mind and the ability to access information from anywhere has been very helpful. The member access is also a very nice feature. My favorite part of the program is the contributions feature. With just one click you can send out statements, filter those with and without emails and the ability to print the mailing addresses to those without emails saves so much time.

Cons: Wish there was a better way than having to use drop down boxes for special events for each person. Wish there was an expanded mass communication type program included in the subscription such as Constant Contact.

Overall: Being able to compile groups of specific information so easy saves a lot of time. Having all the information for members all in one program and being able to incorporate contributions and finance is great. There are so many great features that we still have not used but hope to take advantage of those in the future.

Pros: The ability to enter contributions and have the batch automatically post as a bank deposit is great (used 2 programs before) as is the Vanco importing. These two items save a lot of time for me. Being cloud based is a huge pro for the ministers as they can access the people section right from their phones while doing visitation. It also helps the secretary and business office to have only one place to change parishioner info and everyone have the update instantly.

Cons: The inability to have sub-funds. It was explained to me that there could be tax ramifications, but to have a "Memorials" fund with separate "John Doe memorial", "Jane Smith Memorial" funds below would be fantastic and I see no tax issues in that. The learning curve was a bear also. While there is help online and by phone, I really could have used an in depth training class or a chance to sit with another church using it. I twice requested names of other churches in a reasonable distance from me and never heard back from Icon.

Overall: I have used Revelations in conjunction with Quickbooks and also ACS. Icon does a much better job of incorporating everything into one cohesive package. Coming from a Quickbooks background, the fund accounting made for a huge learning curve to make Icon do what our church expected. I have to maneuver money between funds because of the lack of sub funds way too much, and reporting isn't as easy as in QB, but the benefits of one complete, cloud based product to the church in general outweigh the inconveniences there.

Icon Systems places a very high emphasis on customer privacy and we do not give out numbers to other churches unless we get explicit permission from churches to do so. Pros: I am able to search for names and create reports and groups pretty easily. I have only called Customer Service a couple times, but when I have they have been helpful and have answered my questions completely.

Cons: We use just the database portion of Icon. There are a couple fields that should be linked so when making a change in one, it also updates the other. An example is when a member name is updated or deleted it does not delete it from the address box. To me it seems odd that these are separate fields. It also would be nice to have an option/place where we could put family connections. For example, when someone gets married they are removed from their parents household, but it would be nice to be able to somehow keep that connection. Maybe this isn't important to all that use this, but for our use it is nice to have these family connections. I wish there were more options for steps on how to do various tasks as what I am finding are just questions and answers by other users and not necessarily specific steps for doing certain tasks that anyone would need to do (ie: delete a member, etc.). So sometimes there are things that I need to do, but am not able to find an answer for.

Overall: We are able to keep track of our membership and important dates.

Pros: I most like that it is cloud based and able to have multiple users with varying levels of accessibility working on it from wherever they have access to the web. This is what sold me on ICON years ago as they were to my knowledge one of the first church admin program providers to do this, it was cloud based before anyone really used that term. The program we were using at the time was not cloud based and required a substantial and costly upgrade to our networking system to have anything remotely approaching multi user.

Cons: It takes a little getting used to. For instance understanding the difference between members and household. So then group members doesn't necessarily refer to a group of members but a group that is made up of individual members and not households. After working with the program for a few years now I have caught on but it is not always the most easy for new users to catch on to. The interface between household and member profiles is a little clunky. As more and more households are dumping land lines and going to cell phone use it would be great to have the ability to notate on the household profile if this is the case and what numbers to use for which member of the household

Overall: Overall the experience has been good. Customer service is great. ICON allows me and others to have access to a lot of information from any location and in real time. I love that about it. I have the sense that it is capable of much more than what I am using it for as I have yet to figure out all the ins and outs even after years of use. I would really appreciate an upgrade in the use on smartphones; particularly the ability to send an email or sms to a group.

Pros: I think that it does a great job of doing the work of Non-Profit Accounting. I love that everything is in the cloud. I also like how easy it is to set up different funds and how the main chart of accounts can be used by any fund.

Cons: If I want to change the comment section on a check, payable, deposit or receivable I have to delete the entire transaction and start over.

The payroll section taxes each rate card individually instead of calculating the entire pay for an individual and then calculating the tax. We have several people that are paid out of many different categories and this causes the withholding taxes to be terribly short.

Accounts receivable. I appreciated the recent improvement but I don't know why the payments have to applied directly to each item purchased. We are a school and families purchase many different things.

We have several different checking accounts. If I accidentally record a deposit into an incorrect checking account I cannot go into GL-Register and repair it. I have to delete the entire transaction and reenter it.

I wish that the payroll section would print out the actual W2s, W3s, 1099s. and Quarterly Federal 941s. It is a hassle to have to go to the IRS websites and reenter all of the employee information.

Overall: It beats the socks of of QuickBooks when it comes to non-profit/fund accounting.

Pros: Online access anywhere. Being able to print individual envelopes. I like that you can archive members and still access that information (ie if pastor asks when did "so and so" die - I can look back and they're not just gone from our system).

Cons: It's not intuitive at all. In our past program, if you added a child via baptism, it would carry the baptism date over into the "received by" date. Here, you have to enter that information 2-3 times over. For instance, you have to enter that baptism date, plus then go into the received by and enter it again. Same for deaths.

For the accounting side, it drives me crazy that I can't pull up a Transaction Account Detail for just ONE expense or revenue account. If I want to see what we've spent in our Fellowship budget, which is one line item, I have to run a TAD report for our whole general fund and scroll and scroll until I find it. This is the only way to see individual transactions that include journal entries (that I have found anyway).

Overall: Online access is the best benefit.

We do have a way to see the activity for just one expense or revenue account, though! Go to General-Ledger: GL: GL-Account Activity. You can either view the transactions in the window or print them as a report.

Pros: IconCMO support team is the absolute greatest, quick to respond and always willing to help until any issue is resolved. Love the Vanco import option.

Having experienced computer issues and various on site backup drive issues when I first began as Admin, I told the church Board of Management that I would only stay if we kept IconCMO!

Cons: We would prefer if when a window was open it wasn't partially covered up by the side bar or another window. This has become a major frustration.

That the app no longer is supported.

Overall: Secure membership management and an excellent Customer Support team.

Would love to have someone come to a Synod Conference and demo and train other churches and admins on this software.

Pros: I like when you open up to do a journal entry, you really can't do it incorrectly as it tells you which way to the credit for the account & which way is the debit. I also love the myriad of reports! There are reports for everything you could possibly want. The support team is probably one of the best features ever! These guys have helped me so very, very much! They are wonderful! I can't thank them enough for all they do! I also like the manual being available online, but it would be nice if it was updated as they make changes to it. It's also nice to be able to have the search the support forum for help...that's a great feature & the videos too.

Cons: I wish there was more graphing abilities & that there was a way to process payroll through it as well as W2's.

Overall: A much better accounting system

Pros: * Web based. No software to install locally and maintain. No need to worry about your data getting lost.

* FASB 117 compliant, allowing for true fund-based non-profit accounting.

* Allows for unlimited number of users, each one's access customizable down to the individual menu level.

* Able to signup for a free trial so I was able to see what the software was really like before I made the purchase decision. With other vendors, I'd have to rely on slick marketing promises that seem to promise the world and then you find out after you purchase it that it's not what you expected.

Cons: * Payroll module seemed a bit difficult and clunky. However, this should not be hinderance since I highly recommend that everyone should use a payroll service and not do it yourself anyway.

Overall: Better fund accounting module. Decentralization of the data allowing for multiple users to access via the web.

Pros: Personally, I like how easy it is to create address labels for different groups of people. I know our bookkeeper loves how easy it is to create end of the year giving reports. I also LOVE that any time I have a technical question, I get a real, live, extremely knowledgeable person to help me.

Cons: Sometimes when I am inputting information about a family or member, I make notes. What I wish is that somewhere on the Household form, either the note itself showed up or at least there was a link telling me that a notes had been created.

Overall: It is easy to access information. It is easy for different staff members to access the same information. I have a lot of confidence in the security of the information. It helps with our bookkeeping (tracking donations.) It helps our office to run smoothly, because it is easy to create address labels for various group mailers, and monthly birthday cards. It helps us create reports on membership, baptisms, births & deaths.

Pros: It was an easy transition in terms of learning how to use it. It is online. I can email statements. I like that now I can start typing the fund name, and it will take me to that name; Revelations didn't have that function. I like that I can use contribution history when entering; that helps me catch an error sometimes if the amount is much different than normal.

Cons: When I make a change to a household, save and close, then the household list closes & I have to reopen. The list should stay open, since I may be making multiple updates. I hated that I had to set up all the accounting links, since those should have already been set up in the Revelations file I sent. It took a while to do because we have a lot of funds, then I did it wrong and had to go back and redo them all. I wish that the export to QuickBooks would be automatic when I post, like it did in Revelations. Now I have an extra step. I don't like the date is automatically the day you enter when I am entering data, since I am usually doing an entry for the past week; and the system doesn't start there. It starts at the name, so I have to use my mouse to go back to the date and change it.

Overall: I can now work on it from home and in the office, including entering data or running a report. I can now email statements. I can search a little easier without having to use my mouse as much.

One tip: instead of clicking the "X" to close out a household record, there's a Household List button (in the bottom right corner" that will take you back to the household list.

Pros: I have used IconCMO since 2006. The main function we use is to keep all the financial records for offerings and paying of bills. I love the ease of use when a question comes up about an expenditure. It's very easy for me to find the details and report on the question in a timely manner. I also appreciate the quarterly and year end statements. I have hundreds of statements to send out but the majority of my time is spent stuffing the envelopes because printing the statements is quick.

Cons: I would love it if the alternate address when used, would show up in reports and on the contribution entry page. Thankfully it is used on the statements.

Overall: I have been working with IconCMO since 2006 and I recommend it to any church that needs to keep their financial records in order. Upon my recommend my mother's church has adopted IconCMO and is appreciating the ease of use especially since they've had to deal with using a temporary as they fill their financial officer position. This has saved them countless hours of work when the new person started so they didn't have to do any research or catching up of financial entries that needed to be made. This year our church started a building campaign and IconCMO has helped us in monitoring, planning and providing reports which are needed by bankers, leasing agents and government agencies. We are so thankful to have this software as we plan and grow.

Pros: 1) Affordable. 2) Accessible (from any computer; but not mobile). 3) Great customer support. 4) Does the job for looking up contact info regarding members.

Cons: 1) The talents section quickly gets out dated, as it relies on data entry from church staff. It would be easier for members to have access & update their own talents. 2) The difference between "reports" and "exports" for groups & members is lost on me as an end-user, and the fact that I have to create a group, and then back out of that window and open another window to run reports regarding that group is confusing. Give me access to reports and exports for my group from that group's window. 3) Communication is not robust: texts require carrier info (hard to get), texts & emails can't be scheduled, no way to quickly create an email to more than one person without creating a group. 4) web services seem stagnant and plays favorites; ex: have not seen new web apps for awhile, & there is integration with Constant Contact but not Mailchimp. If someone is leveraging the app's API, they aren't letting anyone else know. 5) mobile access is dismal. Even with new app, have to access as a member, not staff; confusing.

Overall: It is easily accessible, and can be accessed by more than one work station.

Pros: I have been working with this software since 1999, back when it was Revelations and through the migration to Icon CMO. I serve in a synod (district) office of our church, so our contributions are a bit different from those of a congregation, but IconCMO serves us well. I've also used the congregation version and it's equally as functional. What I love most is the support! Quick answers to questions both online and by phone (I love that I've talked to my executive for almost all of these years!) and the team is responsive to suggestions of improvements to the software that would allow me to do my job better.

Cons: Some forms and reports are set up more from a congregational perspective than for a synod, but that's a minor inconvenience.

Overall: This software is affordable and produces quality results. It's easy to learn, intuitive and relevant. I recommend it to our congregations often.

I've been impressed with the capabilities of ICON. Every day I use it I find new things.

Pros: ICON has so many more modules than its predecessor, "Revelation." Some of the records that we used to keep in other programs (e.g., records of contributions on Excel spreadsheets) have been so much easier to accomplish on ICON. But, by far and away, the customer support is the best reason for using this product. When there is something I don't understand (e.g., the difference between deleting and archiving an individual) they are able to explain it quickly and easily. I am often talking to the software developer, not just another user, and rarely have to wait to have a phone call returned. The friendliness and efficiency of the support staff make it ICON worth every penny.

Cons: Some of the help screens don't really answer the question I'm looking for, but the support staff is always there to straighten in out. Also, learning how to accomplish certain reports and functions that were done one way in Revelation, and a completely different way in ICON, has been difficult. ICON does everything I need, but finding out where it happens is not always straightforward.

Pros: This program helps keep all information about members of the congregation located in one location. Once signed on to ICONCMO, I can find all members of the family, important dates about each member, addresses, etc. I also like the Contribution section because I can access the pledges for the members if there is any question.

Cons: There are times when I have to hunt for the records I need because I am not sure where to look. I have tried to use the user manual, but I don't think it is very user friendly.

Overall: During budget preparation, it is easy to fine what contributions have been made, how it relates to the pledges and who is behind. The contribution statements are great and I can send by email to those who have email addresses, then print out the statements that need to be snail-mailed. One of the best features I have found the working on the end of the year Congregational Report for the Synod. It makes this job a lot easier.

Pros: Customer Service is great. Regarding the module I use (contributions), it seems to offer a high level of sophistication. I haven't used other software, so difficult to say.

Cons: It is not as intuitive or user friendly as I would like. Difficult to train and figure out. Also, I have to review & compare the reports to make sure I am receiving the information I think I am receiving. Contribution reports can be tricky as to which ones include certain data and which reports don't include specific data (ie prepaids). Connections between modules are not seamless.

Overall: We use the fund accounting and membership modules. We do not use payroll nor general accounting.

Pros: I have used ICON for over 5 years and I find that the reports provide all the information that our finance committees and members like to be aware of and it is easy to print them off or email them to the necessary members. and I am very happy with the ease of setting up most new financial accounts and info and very easy to add new church members. (if I do have a problem your staff members are the very best at helping me learn and understand how to use or change a problem.

Cons: The new light blue print is sometimes difficult to read.. sometimes making corrections or changes to previous entries that were incorrect can be a real learning experience.

Overall: It had more programs than the system being used at the time I took over the financial work and they were more detailed with information we wanted to use.

Pros: IconCMO is a well organized, web-based, data management package that provides a simple no-nonsense approach to tracking both people (visitors, prospects, active members, non-active members, etc) to contribtions and funding campaigns. The fact that it's web-based allows users to call up information, or send emails, or even global text messages from ANYWHERE you can access the web. It's been a life saver.

Cons: Standard reports are not as flexible as one might hope for. But whenever I need a report that isn't standard I can export all member data or household data to create a report in a third-party product.

Overall: This is the most effective tool church staff can use to organize and track the many components of church life. There are many reasons why IconCMO is the best package on the market, but being web-based knocks it out of the park

Pros: We have been using IconCMO for almost 4 years and have found it to be a dependable database and contribution tracking tool. Whenever I have a question on where to find certain reports I have had very good support from Customer Service; usually get a response within an hour and they are very knowledgeable about the functions of the program. I did find it cumbersome when I first began using it but after using it for several months I found it much easier to use.

Cons: The location of some items I find to be in strange locations but overall a very good program. In the contributions portion of the software I wish it was easier to review the batch before posting so that errors in posting could be minimized.

Overall: Ease of sharing the program between the Office, Pastor and Faith Formation Director

Pros: Better than the other program that I hear is out there for Church records. It keeps accurate records if you "save" and "put in the right infomation",in the first time. You can correct your mistakes easily enough. I like the fact that I can archive things and pull them back out if I need to. This is important when member's are transferring back and forth to other churches. I t helps me keep track of Birthday's & Anniversaries for our monthly newsletter.

Cons: Right now-it is just that the white background is hard on my eyes for some reason. I am hoping other user's have this same issue-so I know it isn't just me! I can deal with it for the time being. The rest of the changes made to the program have been great!

Overall: Keeping accurate attendance records and transfers of member's info when they leave this church. Keeping dates for the month of the member's infomation when doing the newsletter.

Pros: It works. Performance is good. Fairly easy to use. Designed for churches. Support is good. Love being able to do a backup before I try something I'm not sure about.

Cons: Reports don't really meet our needs. We have to generate several reports in Excel for our monthly report and try to combine them on our own. Needs a good user report writer. There are a lot of annoying little things that would make the system easier to use that never seem to get addressed. We use Fellowship One for our membership functions because it is more flexible and has features like a better picture directory and more options for pledge statements.

Overall: Provides accounting and financial reporting.

Pros: As a non-accountant, I like the ability to gather data for my reports. Once setup, with Icon help, I'm able to write checks to my vendors without having to reenter the account and fund information by using the last six transactions drop down. This is very helpful when writing payroll checks, as we only have three employees and we do not use the Icon payroll module.

Cons: When paying the credit card, the check number on the Credit Card Payment screen is the next number in sequence; however when returning to the check writing screen, the check number is not updated to account for the check written in the Credit Card Payment screen.

Overall: As I am not an accountant, I find the customer support team to be superb! As a small church, less than 100 members, we find the cost to be very reasonable.

We have been with Icon for many years and they have served us very well throughout our tenure.

Pros: Icon has been very stable and reliable and most importantly very responsive to our needs. Many years ago before any Church management software was capable at our request Icon and our Church pioneered check scanning features that cut our processing times nearly in half by creating two batches one for the bank and one for our data base from one scan.

Cons: Somewhat dated appearance was not readily accepted and used by employees or volunteers outside of the accounting department or not familiar with data bases. Unfortunately for broad acceptance and use outside of our accounting department we found Icon less user friendly and even intimidating for individuals accustomed to Mac environments

Overall: The software met our needs for many years.

Pros: This software is clearly made with churches in mind- it has all the features we use most frequently, such as detailed membership records (including spots for contact information, baptism, confirmation, and church transfers) and the ability to print directories a variety of ways. We also use it to record our members' weekly contributions and this makes printing year-end giving statements for our members easy and very convenient, with all the information they'll need if they want to compare with their own financial records.

Cons: As office admin and financial secretary I primarily use the software for membership records and recording of contributions. Initially, it felt a bit overwhelming to learn how to access the menus and find what I needed- it's not the most user-friendly or intuitive interface I've used. BUT, it did not take long to learn, and now I find it simple and easy to use.

Pros: The price was the first draw to this software. Annually it saves the church money, in comparison to the previous church software product (Church Management Systems) we used.

Cons: Adding a new giver when processing contributions can be cumbersome. Having to leave the contribution processing window and then deal with the envelope numbers...and then returning to process the giving. A new giver should be able to be processed more smoothly. There are also frustrating parts of the finance side, especially regarding adding memo information. It would be helpful to go back into a journal or check and edit/add information to the memo for bookkeeping clarity. Also in Payroll there are some challenges too - primarily processing PR taxes. Nothing horrible, just a little frustrating.

Overall: My overall experience has been a mixture of frustration with resolve. Getting use to a different software that was not as sophisticated as the previous software, was frustrating. Having resolve to learn and persevere has been good. Icon support team has been fabulous and very patient with my questions and confusions. They have been gracious and good listeners too.

Great value for most churches without crazy outside the box requirements.

Pros: Price, ease of use. They recently put a "fresh coat of paint" on it that makes it look more modern. Has "enough" functionality and we don't need to pay for all the bells and whistles. Love being able to email statements and save on stamps.

Cons: Nothing major, we have had a hard time getting people to use the parishioner self-service. Initially that was because it was difficult to use for the average person. They have made improvements there, but we still have not had a huge adoption. Would like more flexibility on how emails appear so they look better.

Overall: Offsite hosted so we don't have to worry about servers, backups, etc. Save on stamps by emailing statements, access from anywhere.

Pros: On the accounting side I like the wide variety of standard reports, the ability to track down detail, the audit trail. On the PEOPLE side I like the flexibility in the kind of data that can be tracked. Most importantly I like the ongoing innovations that are introduced based on suggestions from users and the receptiveness of the support team to consider these suggestions.

I love the new document storage option and hope to see that functionality grow.

Cons: Ongoing issue I haven't figured out a work around for: Limitations on how members/individuals are connected within organizations/households.

Also I wish the user interface on customized reports was more intuitive/user friendly.

Overall: It is integrated and offers many partnership opportunities for additional functionality. Changes are introduced to keep most features up-to-date. The staff is knowledgeable about non-profit accounting and has been quite helpful in explaining the differences from the 'for profit' world in which I worked before retiring and the basics of 'non-profit' fund accounting

Pros: I like the fund accounting, how it's designed for churches, and lots of extra features other soft wares are missing.

Cons: I would like the payroll register to show year-to-dates for employees. Need to be able to print receipts for A/R, and what really blows me away is the lack of ability to print W-2's from the program it's self and having to enter them on the Social Security site manually.

Overall: Able to get 95% of all accounting and tracking done in one program and not having to try to put together information from several programs. I also feel secure in knowing that help is just a phone call away if needed.

Pros: Easy to read. Easy to go back and forth between screens. Varied reports. Batches give good information as to what is on them. If I make a mistake it is easy to correct. Vanco was easy to incorporate into my weekly use.

Cons: That I don't know all its capabilities. This is really not the software's problem as much as mine. I have done several webinars which I really like. I will continue to learn more as I go along. The new look of it is hard to get used to. I think it is difficult to read at times. Again, this could be my computer more than the software.

Overall: Ease of doing our weekly contributions and ease of statements and looking up what people have given and for what fund.

Pros: I found main membership part of the program very easy to use. Really like to new format for IconCMO.

Cons: 1) Would be nice to be able to print a report from the group list without having to go back to the report function.

2) When adding a wedding date for husband, it would be helpful to add that date in automatically for the wife.

3) When a member is marked as deceased. it would be helpful to automatically remove from all groups.

4) Would be helpful if a member or household status is changed, that the status date would automatically change to the date of the change, but with an option to change it if it needed to be backdated.

5) Would love to have a graph available to show how much is given by age groups - or a way to create our own parameters to create graphs

Pros: I can only express opinions based on 2 weeks of use: Icon is less expensive per year than another brand I researched; it interfaces with Windows 10; the support service has been excellent; most of the training videos were helpful.

Cons: Icon fails in a few areas: when entering contributions there is no easy way to add new contributors; it's missing the "memorization of bills or journal entries" feature; there is no saving/grouping monthly set of finance reports - those are the areas I've discovered in only 2 weeks.

Overall: It interfaces with Windows 10 and Icon was less expensive than the other brand...those are about the only things that are "benefits" to us at this time. If the Windows update hadn't caused such problems, and if the other brand matched Icon's price, I would still be using my previous software product.

P.S. The system does remember bills you've paid! When you choose a vendor in the check writing window, it will bring up the last six checks you wrote to that vendor. You can choose one and it will fill everything in for you. If needed, you can adjust it before you post.

You can also create recurring journal entries.

I have found this software performs well and is very well suited for churches small and large.

Pros: This software (service) requires no additional software installation to maintain. It is multi user and can be accessed any where there is an internet connection. There is no need to worry about backups or recovery in the event of hardware failures. The accounting part of this service is designed for fund accounting which works well for churches and other non-profits that need fund accounting. This service also provides several ways to handle contributions statements. I would describe it as a very well thought out and implemented service.

Cons: I have found that some of the accounting reports could provide a few options that would allow the user to configure them to get exactly what they want. Another thing that could be improved upon is the envelope selection in the enter contribution process. This is designed assuming you are using envelopes. For those who don't use envelopes a different way of selecting the contributor would greatly improve this process.

Pros: I like the ease of putting contributions in and printing off reports weekly and yearly. I also really like the banking section, writing checks is very easy especially when the checks repeat each month. The information for the repeat checks is so automatic that you can do them in no time.

Cons: The thing I like least is the reports, I can not get a report that makes it easy to understand the monthly contributions against the expenses. With my spreadsheet I can show the expenses against the contributions so that my finance committee can see where we are at. I was told to print off 3 different reports to show where we are at but that is hard for them to understand.

Overall: I was kind of thrown into Icon when our secretary left and I agreed to help for a short time. In learning the system I made a lot of calls to the Icon people and they helped me a lot. First of all we figured out that when our account was started at the beginning of the year it was not done correctly so I had to redo all that information and then correct some errors that were made along the way. After it was done properly I still had a lot of questions that I had to keep calling about. Since I have worked on it over a year now I have found it to be quite helpful in my new job of now begin the full time bookkeeper for our church.

Pros: There are many things to like about the software, such as the report that you can generate that puts households with adults having different last names together, the ease in switching between household and member records, the ability to email statements to donors easily, and more.

I also want to comment that the customer support I receive is outstanding.

Cons: It is not considered easy to learn by the folks I work with, and if you don't work with it regularly, it can be easy to forget how to find what you need.

Overall: Their support people are very knowledgeable, and consistently prompt with answers to questions. It's an affordable product with lots of functionality.

Pros: We like the ease of use, and the fact that there are several places to get answers - in your support forum, in the manual, and by being able to call and have a technician help us with problems.

Cons: On the whole, we're quite satisfied. Have had a glitch or two when trying to reconcile bank or credit card accounts, but once we contacted ICON, a technician helped us breeze right through it.

Overall: It took a bit to get used to all of the components, but we are very satisfied overall - contributions are easy to track, reports are easy to pull, and the payroll module covers everything comprehensively. We are grateful for a program like ICON so that we do not have to use an outside accounting firm.

Pros: I like the fact that I don't need to worry about backing up my work any longer. It's easy to generate a report for all of our needs. I can email statements to members which saves money and time. If I have any questions, I can click on help, send the question and with a very short time, I have my answer. If I do think of something that may be useful to me, they will look into it and try to incorporate it into the next upgrade.

Cons: I honestly can't think of anything that I don't like about the software. It's great to have someone

available to help if I can't find what I'm looking for (i.e. a report).

Wonderful customer service! Tool works well and, once past the learning curve, is very effective.

Pros: Web based - available anywhere, and backed up. All parts integrate nicely. Rarely is there a service interruption. Finance module has made a big impact in our ability to identify problems and address solutions early.

Cons: Hard to say as we are such longtime users. There are a few reports that I wish we could generate to avoid manual effort and to satisfy the desires of our congregation, but it works for me!

Overall: Good people database. Contribution accounting is easy to do and easy to distribute workload. Finance module has enabled us to identify problems earlier (than QuickBooks) and address solutions while there is tome to do so.

Pros: The system is fairly easy to maneuver. The cloud based option is a great plus. The information that can be included is good.

Cons: The various groups are time consuming to manage. For example ... it would be a great to generate a report based on specific criteria rather than having to keep a number of groups up-to-date. Also, the ability to advance each student to the next grade level with a couple of clicks would be great that way once a student begins school it's easy to manage.

Pros: I mainly use the Contributions part of the software. It seems to be working fine for the most part for what I need to accomplish.

Cons: It would be nice if the Printed Batch Edit List would be in the same format as the Printed Posting Journal such as listing the contributors to the different funds as a fund group instead of being listed by envelope number. I sometimes feel like I am not using the program to its fullest and am not sure how to gain that information. It may be nice to have a seminar with a group of users.

Overall: It is a means of keeping track of our parishioners and their contributions.

Pros: I use this software extensively for communication. I like being able to print labels for ministry groups, and for birthday and anniversary cards.

Cons: It is difficult to look up information from my phone. This feature is not something I need often, but I am very mobile in my work, and occasionally need to look up a bit of information while I am not at my desk.

Overall: Church ministry is all about relationships. We want to keep track of personal information about people so that they know we care, without being intrusive or invasive of privacy. The ICON database allows for easy, up-to-date information shared among our staff while keeping personal details secure and private.

Pros: Fast response times, logical layout of complex activities, and excellent customer service by phone. There is no internet-based software I have used that responds more quickly even to complex queries. I seldom need to refer to the manual because the screens are laid out in a logical fashion, with pick lists where they are useful. And when I've called for support, it has always been from a polite person who obviously knows what they are doing and solves the problem quickly.

Cons: There's nothing I don't like, but like any software with such wide-ranging functionality, it takes time to learn.

Overall: Accurate maintenance of financial and membership records, with offsite storage and backup. Comprehensive financial reporting tools and inquiry facilities to track every transaction. As a church, we collect revenue that members designate for several different specific causes, and the system provides full facilities for managing and reporting on each cause as a separate fund.

Pros: I have been doing some new things with our church's ICON software and have been calling for tech support. I have found that whoever answers on the other end of the line has been professional, polite, patient, and very knowledgeable about the ICON system's features and functions. Because of this great support, I am able to use this software in new ways.

Cons: The only thing that comes to mind is that I am unable to print a directory with member info AND their picture together in the same file.

Overall: I am putting together our church's new directory with ICON; until now it was done outside our office. Great!

Pros: We love that it is hosted in the cloud for starters. Also, the fund accounting this software provides is perfect for churches who seek to be IRS compliant and who are looking to prepare financial reports based on different funds over extended periods of time. The reports are endless and easily modified. Also, support is easy to reach and are always very helpful.

Cons: The software is a little antiquated in it's design. Could use a facelift just for cosmetic reasons so it has a current feel.

Overall: We have been using IconCMO for many years now and we are very satisfied with it. Not looking to change.

IconCMO database and financial systems seamlessly integrate reducing our overall office work.

Cons: I doubt I utilize the full capability of the software due to lack of training. Having a separate mobile friendly version limits staff's and church member use of the software - wish is wasn't this way.

Definitely check out our YouTube channel for training videos. Most of them shorter than five minutes so it's easier to sneak them into your busy day.

I'm not sure what you mean by having a separate mobile friendly version that limits your use of the software. Maybe you're referring to our new product, Rubix?
