Used the software for: ### "" March 15, 2012 4.0 Hayes & Lunsford Electrical Contractors, Inc. is an 82 year old, 3rd generation electrical contractor operating in NC, SC, GA, TN & VA. We selected Maxwell Systems Estimation software after looking and using several other programs. We are currently using the network version on Estimation, which allows our database to stay on our server and can be accessed remotely. This allows help if a local computer hard drive crashes, as no data in Estimation is lost. The local workstation is very simple to setup. Our estimators are very pleased with Estimation and its ease of use. Support from Maxwell Systems Estimation has been very good. Including helping integrate other software programs such as Trade Service for updating our database. In addition our account manager, Marion Sorensen, is always there when we need help. Only three of us are in the office, so we need to be productive and use our time efficiently. I have used Maxwell Systems Estimation before and considered it the finest of estimating programs. However, I have to say that Cyndi Ray in particular performed beyond my highest expectations in tailoring the system to fit my needs with her thorough, complete and expeditious attention with the system installation. Not to mention, her personal and professional behavior and attitude in meeting all my needs. I could not have completed a nearly 3 million dollar bid without her efforts. That's correct, from before there were even electronic calculators (much less computers). We are currently using Logistics Version 4.3.2571 Estimating Version 4.2 to do our Plumbing Estimates. We have been using this system for about 13 years. Even though I have never used any of the other systems, I cannot imagine how anyone could improve on the ease of use! The power pad, along with the digitizer, allow me to do my takeoff completely from the plans with minimal return to the computer. The amount of time saved has allowed me to bid more and larger jobs by myself than would be possible any other way. It has allowed me to downsize, stay competitive and survive. New Features such as Elevation Settings, Multiple Estimates within the Job are the immediate standout improvements I've noticed so far. The Ability to Open Multiple Estimates under one job is a definate Plus! Until we find the time to deeply explore all the new features, which is difficult to do when you bid everything on the street; I wont have much more to add. The Dataset is impressive with new innovative industry products, which are much more than our previous version granted that the version we were using without updating it was over 10 years old. We provide total turn key industrial concstruction services including general construction, painting, roofing, sheet metal, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical. Currently we use Maxwell Systems software for estimating sheet metal, mechanical and electrical project. We are in the process of upgrading to digital take off. Our account manager (Cindy Ray) has been instrumental in working with FMC to update our systems. We are looing forward to full implementation of the digital take off with the goal of streamlining our estimating process, turning out high quality estimates in a faster time thus lower the cost to prepare each etimate. I used Maxwell's Estimation with a past employer and was pleased with how quickly I picked it up. I am now in my own consulting business and needed estimating sofware. I chose Estimation because of my past experience with it and wanted something that was similar in the summary and bid summary print out for the customers I work with. The sales associate was helpful and knowldgeable about thier product. Their support team is very helpful also. I would reccomend Maxwell Estimation to anyone who is looking for estimating sofware that is up to date with the latest programs for quick and easy estimating with great support for your needs. Program is stiff and not ready to use, company is using their costumers as testers for their program. Bunch of items are not functional, but they fix it only in regular update of the program which comes once in 6 to 12 months, meanwhile they live their costumers hang there with dysfunctional options and they even can't guaranty that problems will be fixed in next update which will come somewhere in May. Their costumer support is not professorial enough and their usual respond: "post your complain on our site" - problem solved. We have three users for Estimation program. We initially had some different thoughts,concerns and trepidation about estimating with a software system. Once we became comfortable which wasn't very long we were producing estimates in a very professional and methodical fashion. What the system does is makes estimating and pricing more consistent. Material prices can be updated through data services which speeds up the process of having accurate and updated bids. By breaking out estimates by floors,sections and categories we are able to set up awarded projects much easier. We continue to use the Estimation program today and are currently running version 9.4 on a network environment. Prior to purchasing the Estimation program we used an elaborate Excel spreadsheet, which certainly got the job done but was time consuming. The Estimation program allows us to accurately bid many more jobs in the same amount of time. The program is user friendly and fairly easy to learn. Maxwell Systems is continuously enhancing the program to make it even better, a lot of which is based on customer feedback. Estimation Tech Support is "very good" to "excellent". We are a plumbing company that provides services to Residential, Commercial and Industrial. We used Excell spreadsheets before Maxwell. We took a week long class in Arizona to learn the program and practice. Very good training we were 100% ready to estimate projects when we returned. The customer support has been better in the past when we first started. We use to call and get problems resolved right away. Now we have to wait for a call back and I'm not always sitting in my office waiting for calls so I've missed those call backs (frustrating). Review Source MO Mike O. This software is great and has provided us with winning bids in the 30 to 40% range. I would like, however, to learn more about some of the updates that we have received. I have been a satisfied customer for over 25 years in three different companies. There are always kinks here and there, but the customer support is great and respond especially if your on a deadline very quickly. The ability to build your own assemblies or to modify the hundreds of "pre-built" assemblies provided, makes the take-off process easier to adapt to all kind of projects. The Digital Takeoff module is powerful and easy to learn, making it a strong tool for quick and accurate takeoffs. I have been using your software for 8 and a half years and have found it to be somewhat user friendly. We did have a few issues with the software, but it wasn't the software, but the trainer and his interpertation of our needs. After some exploring, we were able to work through these issues. We are constantly upgrading our data base and find the software meets our needs for all of the different projects we bid. The accuracy, speed and ease of functionality the estimation program cuts my time in more than half when it comes to bidding a job. Katherine Jenkins is a very helpful representative for Maxwell and is always there when we have any questions regarding Maxwell. My first and only experience with computerised estimating was back in 1987. I went to Jupitor, FL to learn the Estimation Inc. program. I guess I am showing my age. After mt class with Maxwell Systems, I can now fell comfortable using the estimating software. The update over the years have been helpful. Since we moved our system to this Digital Takeoff we have increased our takeoff times by half and now have a better handle on changes that happen at the last minute. We also have greater control on manipulating costs right from the estimate and see real time changes on costs. We have saved thousands from not having to print or order physical plans. We many different divisions but use estimation for HVAC and Piping. HVAC needs to get up todate with Estimation but piping uses it solely. I have been her for 7 months and have been through a big update and a couple small version updates. The thing I like about estimation is the support. They are very knowledgable and very helpfull.
