Student Consumer Electronics Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "The best application to take notes of videos" July 14, 2023 5.0 It is one of the best applications I have discovered this year because knowing exactly the moment in the video when you made the annotation makes the job of reviewing it much easier, especially if they are long videos. Pros I love the ease with which I can take notes to the video I watch and the integration it has with Chromium based browsers so it can be used in the most popular ones. I like that it uses Markdown so it is possible to export annotations in many note apps. Also the fact that you can import videos from the computer and thus make notes at the exact moments of the video is very useful. Cons The only thing I don't like is the buttons that it puts on all the videos you visit, I wish there was a way to remove them and only use it through keyboard shortcuts and that it doesn't have an integration with the Obsidian application which is one of the most used. I don't use it a ton, because I don't like the idea of saving my notes on some platform that I don't know is going to be around for the long-term and losing all of my notes, but when I'm feeling lazy and I just want to make a few notes on a video, I use reclipped.That said, it's the best app I've found that does notetaking on youtube videos. Pros #1 main functionality I use - creating notes with a timestamp at the click of a button while watching youtube videos. Cons It's a little complicated to use at first - there are multiple types of note options, so it took a while for me to learn which one to use. All I wanted to do was click a button - create a timestamp - and write a note. That's it. Compared to other similar software, Reclipped has a large focus on building a 2nd brain and taking notes to be resurfaced which is something I really appreciate.But there are other use cases such as collaborative note-taking, facilitating education, etc which are not utilized by myself. Cons Reclipped still does not have a dedicated mobile version which could further expand it's usefulness.The keyboard controls are a little bit uncomfortable but that's understandable as it has to contend with the browser's hotkeys. As I am a collage student so now I don't have to write notes when I watch YouTube videos. I use its extension in both Google Chrome and in Microsoft Edge. Pros Thing which I liked most about ReClipped is making notes and different mode of sharing . I can take screenshot with exact timeline and the link it gives clicking upon which we directly goto that part of the video. Cons The negative part of ReClipped is that it take sometime to add screenshot in noteswhen we take screenshot and another problem is its pdf is not in a very well structured manner, pdf structure is good but it can bd more well structured. With it just being a Chrome Extension, it's easier and very light on storage space. Pros ReClipped is very easy to use, and as a Chrome Extension, it's great that I don't need to install any separate software that will consume space on my computer. The shortcuts are also very helpful because I can easily take notes or highlight on videos without missing anything from what I'm watching, especially when the speaker is writing or explaining something with another visual tool.As someone who opened Chrome and Notepad and adjusted their spaces on my computer, this is really helpful because I don't need to purchase another extra monitor just to watch and take down notes. Cons While the keyboard shortcuts are great, it can get quite time consuming to adjust and learn. Cons The one downside and I do mean one, is that when taking notes for an online course each video course notes get the title of the course and not the section. So Reclipped is perfect for this, as I can annotate videos and clip certain extracts. Pros It is super easy to capture video content with this tool. Plus it's great to be able to annotate the clips you're creating, super useful if you want to remember some extracts of videos (which is why I've been using this tool for the past 6 months). The most amazing thing from my point of view is the free student plan. It's always a pleasure to notice that companies are taking students into account. Cons It would be awesome to be able to use it on the Youtube application as well. But I guess that it is almost impossible. Initially ,I was unable to note down the values from the educational video but now I mark and highlight every necessary detail. The feature that makes it different form other is synchronization with notion and google drive. Cons Except for some minor issues ,like the device doesn't take input after making notes unless the right click is done .For example, while watching a video on youtube ,if i use reclipped then the keyboard input does not gets registered. As long as I am not using reclipped all the keyboard shortcuts work fine except But the moment I use it none of the keyboard shortcut works so for that I have to pause and resume the video again. The ReClipped main page fortunately does but I would like to have it integrated into the Youtube page.I would like real-time formatting of the notes, I write in markdown style so having rendered the titles in the actual format would be nice.
