CTO Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "An amazing combination of a video editor and programability" July 25, 2024 5.0 Pros Picture a video editor where you can programatically control almost anything. The flexibility is amazing - you can change input media, timestamps, positions, volumes, text, effect parameters, and tons of other things. The output video can be constant length or vary based on the inputs' lengths. There's not a high learning curve though, you can start by treating it as a regular video editor. The API is very straightforward yet flexible. You don't \*need\* to use the API to provide input values to renders though, you can also designate placeholder values and the render dialog will prompt you to fill them out, or you can hook them up to Zapier. On the other hand the templates are defined as JSON which allows deep customization and flexibility if you need it. There are often new features added, such as the ElevenLabs integration which is smartly done. The customer support is great too, they have helped us figure out solutions made updates based on some feedback. They have excellent documentation as well as a GitHub with code examples you can clone and test quickly. The credits system is fair and straightforward. It's easy to check the status of your renders. I could go on but I'll just summarize - it’s hard to believe this product exists sometimes, it's so useful. You must check it out if you're doing any sort of video generation! Cons Very few complaints. It doesn't have all the features of the big editors like AfterEffects or Capcut but it has the important ones. They go way beyond than what you can possibly expect. The platform is a match made in heaven and allows designers and developers to work in absolute harmony. There is so much potential with Creatomate, from generating videos from WordPress articles in complete autopilot to creating animated adverts from a single click. Pros Fantastic unparalleled support and such a flexible and comprehensive API. Our developer found the API endpoint and documentation incredibly easy to integrate with our own WordPress plugin, and our UX designers found the admin interface super intuitive with the template editor and pre-built templates. We had our MVP deployed over a week ahead of schedule due to the help and support from Creatomate. Cons The fact that it took us trialling out over 40 different platforms, we were so gutted that we didn't stumble across Creatomate earlier! Transitioning between slides were initially a bit of a problem, but after a simple support enquiry, Creatomate had integrated the ability for us to do exactly what we needed, now transitioning between slides is super easy to do. Now we have full control over the entire flow from generating our video text summaries from openai API, selecting good images from adobe stocks API, and then generating the video from Creatomate and Creatomate handles the voiceover integrated with ElevenLabs. The api is powerful. If you are creative, then you can do some good stuff. Pros What I like about Createomate is their support, documentation, and designer. It’s a developer and designer-friendly platform that gives you the power to create anything that supports. Cons What I dislike about createomate is the learning curve of how layers are positioned. I wish it was more like flex or auto-layout. But it's more like basic HTML relative positioning. April 29, 2024 5.0 In brief — CREATOMATE HAS AMPLIFIED OUR AWESOME!!! Pros Creatomate is our go-to, Zapier-backed solution for taking multiple user-generated and other bits (text, images, audio) and weaving them into a cohesive video, as part of an ongoing concept exploration of how our personal stories can be more entertaining. I can't say too much on that front yet, but what I CAN emphasize is that Creatomate's support (both personal and documentation) has been SUPERB at helping us find specific pathway for needs we have. I'm not talking basic stuff, but very nuanced thinking with different layers and timings. This was some advanced problem-solving! They've even been extremely progressive about adding features like ElevenLabs voice integration. On the whole, Creatomate is fantastic for bringing together team members who care about bridging the more engineering + artistic disciplines, since it needs to marry both worlds. There are lots of Templates to learn how things work with feeding in Zapier inputs, and that's how we learned the auto-captioning implementation is very cool. On the geeky side, the API Log readout is very clean and visual. You can do audio fades, you can apply graphical layering and masking effects, and there's a lot of post-processing pizazz that can spice up whatever you're bringing in, to make it more cohesive. Font arrangement and typography is also surprisingly flexible. I find the mixed-mode unification appealing to creatives of many stripes who've worked with other tools, which is why the name is so apt — declare it out loud with me — CREATOMATE! We couldn't find another tool that meets our needs so comprehensively. Much of the Creatomate UX is smartly-designed, from having both a timeline view that's familiar to pro audio/video editors, and being able to translate and edit that in a code view. What's really innovative here is the thoughtfulness behind DYNAMIC elements, like your video can automatically be adjusted to be shorter or longer based on incoming ingredients... AMAZING for context awareness! Anyway in short, if you're using Zapier and want to take user input and transform it into fun videos on-the-go (it can also do still pics), definitely explore Creatomate, and find out what it can do for you! Cons When working with many layers, some things can be confusing, but that's not particular to this tool. Snapping-to-grid features and "easy mode"-type stuff... and comprehensive Zapier documentation for the "advanced features" that were communicated to us via support... but we already did our feature requests and Creatomate knows! Saved us so many dev hours for something that was super important to us - allowing our users to create quick gifs of their videos to share. This product is the best in the category but their customer service is amazing. I made a mistake when upgrading my account (we use it so much I had to upgrade happily) and Casper the \[sensitive content hidden\] emailed to make sure I’d meant to set up an annual account. As it was a mistake he happily refunded when he didn’t need too! That just doesn’t happen. We’ve used creatomate for close on a year and love it. It is a platform with many resources focused on videos, compatible with several programming languages and no code. Want to automate your marketing with flyers and videos? Createmate is the platform you need to use. It's too much!!! Pros Model creation system and the best video editor for this type of segment. It's the best I've ever tested. The integration and use in the code is very good. Their support is perfect. Cons I thought the API might provide some way to create a video template. I hope more people discover this tool and benefit from it the way I have. Pros I loved the feeds feature that allows you to import a spreadsheet of data to bulk create tons of graphics and videos. This is especially important for projects that have a global reach across multiple languages. With Creatomate I was able to generate over 1,000 graphics/videos in less than 24 hours. Cons Creatomate has a learning curve and can be intimidating when first trying it out.
