Cons I think there is a little bit of drop off or trade off when using Google Cloud compared to Azure or AWS when it comes to features, just does not feel like it has the same amount of features on the platform. Pros Google cloud has a large storage capacity for storing information mostly on the online storage service it is highly encrypted but it cannot be hacked in and no one can access the client is information. Scaling services and capacity management is a click away, something which can be difficult on prem with physical kit. Pros Migrating from on prem to cloud was made easy with GCP. Native capabilities cover a majority of requirements such as data stores, database and reporting. For anything that is not available, you have other options such as container deployments or IaaS in GCP. Connectivity to on prem for ingress and egress of data is a well performed task and easily secured with firewalls. Cons Some features may not available that are required for your software solutions or for regulatory requirements such as off site replication. Pros The main advantage is that we stop depending on our physical job position. By having the data on the server, any computer, smartphone or cyber café becomes our office. We save on equipment, because we will no longer have to worry about our equipment and when to change them. The supplier company will take care of this. It saves time and effort. Cons An exceptional event may occur in which the service may be out of service and we may not have access. There is more dependence on internet and speed providers. Pros The standard platform of Google Cloud, which is PAAS, has free tier which is perfect for starting your own website. It scales automatically so developers dont have to worry about sudden spike on the website. The flexible runtime has tons of options ranging from linux to microsoft server, the pricing is almost as cheap as AWS. It's good to use when you want more control of the system. Cons The pricing model could get complicated really fast, the learning curve on the PAAS side is a bit harder when you're new to programming. The cost factor is what makes it my ultimate choice for VMs but not for ML. Pros The price factor is what makes it most effective. I got $300 of free credit to experiment with it and there was no cap on how much I could spend per month. My objective was to get data from Twitter using their API. It was easy for me to set up the VMs which cost less than AWS and Azure. The user interface was easy and did not require much of an effort for me to edit the settings for what was required. Cons What I dislike is that there are some features which are not available and that's what make it unfeasible. Plus, the billing options are not front and center. One must really drill down to find it and to understand how to stop being billed for services not needed. There needs to be more prompts to inform the user what they will be charged for. When I removed my billing information, they refused to accept them again unless I sent proof of ID. Pros Love the way it works, although it looks complicated but it's easier to use comparing to Amazon and Microsoft. The machine were always running and no downtime as I expected. Totally on my top 3 virtual machine platforms. Cons The interface could be more simpler for people who are not into servers and cloud platforms.
