The power behind it GC is how it's powerful component parts come together to integrate seamlessly almost like a digital swiss army knife. There is no need for external automations, patches or anything of the sort, all apps and storage options work together, sync to each other opening up a new frontier of productivity. Pros Having met Google's Chief Engineer and heard his passion for how their global services are architected on a global scale I can't emphasise enough how outstanding their platform really is, as he put it we are only limited by the laws of physics in terms of data speed. We use it specifically for a clinical trials recruitment service using PaaS. The system scales perfectly on demand and is reliable. Cons I would recommend Google for PaaS but would be less inclined to recommend IaaS where AWS is without question the leader in this space. Review Source MB Moeava B. Great solution but my advice is to consult with an expert if possible. Pros Although we just use some of the basic tools for our business (there's at least a hundred of them!) and I'm not a back-end or system admin expert by any means, I do see that the available selection is vast. If our business evolves to the point where we need more professional cloud tools and capabilities, I would definitely go with GCP. Cons It's very complex for someone who is not an expert with this platform and the tools within. I would highly suggest to work with a GCP expert if you are looking to solve more complex problems, instead of trying to figure it all out by yourself. Review Source Douglas B. Using GCP, we have been able to store millions of rows of data from multiple sources in one central database and create custom models on top of the data lake. One example: we were able to build Google Analytics data model which correlates clicks to cases in BigQuery, so we could correlate to post purchase transactional and customer data. If more support is provided by Google on building these kinds of custom models, GCP could drive higher ROI for large corporations. Pros Google Cloud Platform has enabled our IT team to store terabytes of marketing, financial and human resources data in relational databases. So, it can be easily accessed by analysts and developers who know SQL using tools such as BigQuery, Data Studio and AppSheet. GCP is easy to learn and is supported by extensive documentation available for free on Google sites such as cloud.google.com. Public datasets such as Bitcoin cryptocurrency can be analyzed and visualized easily using integration between BigQuery and Data Studio. Pre-built BigQuery machine learning models give analysts and data scientists a head start on predicting or forecasting future customer behavior, sales, etc. based on historical data. Connected Sheets allows analysis of millions of rows of data without knowing SQL, using Pivot charts and through seamless integration between BigQuery and Google Sheets. Cons Google Cloud Platform works great with Google products such as Google Drive, BigQuery and Data Studio. But is not that efficient when it comes to non-Google analyst tools such as Excel or Word. BigQuery interface is not very intuitive and involves multiple layers of access which causes confusion for administrators. Data Studio works fine for basic clickstream and transactional reporting but lacks statistical or scientific analytical capabilities. Sharing files with friends and fellows is very easy and you can decide whether a person's access to the shared file shall be permanent or temporary. Cons You need a high end internet connection to utilize Google Cloud Platform without lagging. Also it need to make integration easy for third party apps other than that of Google. Pros Google Cloud Platform (commonly abbreviated as GCP) is hands down the best all-in-one cloud service provider when it comes to managing, developing, debugging and deploying your project. Be it a small scale application for personal use or a data intensive enterprise application, Google Cloud Platform offers a plethora of functionalities to ensure your app or project meets the required quality standards. Cons The User Interface seems a little cluttered considering Google's love for minimalism. Also, managing your projects via GCP's official Android application can be a little bit of a hassle sometimes. It never goes down, it is always accessible, runs on mobile and desktops and never runs out of space. I'm not sure what else you expect since google offers nearly everything to do to the public free of charge unless you are needing massive amounts of data. Cons There is some issues getting it to work properly when it links in and out of Outlook servers. Though I suspect this is not a google issue but more on Outlook which tends to be total garbage. Their cloud is the best software I have ever used. All my documents are stored in my cloud, I dont have to save, send, attach, all when I get to my account and everything is there. I love the fact that when I need a document that I created all I have to do is have the internet to sign in and have access to it. I also love the document feature that we can turn docs into pdfs. Pros It’s public, accessible anywhere so long as there is a WiFi connection, and it’s easy to share creative material with those either in classes, small businesses, etc. with many different uses from slideshows, storing files, or sharing files, Google Drive is a free software public to anyone with a google email. Files are easily shred through the click of a buttons. With up to 50 free gigs, businesses and students alike need not worry about space. Cons Mobile platform is an issue. When traveling, or using another device, it’s harder to log into your account to share. Especially when you recently acquired a new number and never changed your contact info. GCP's interface is superb and everyone can learn it easily by going through their control panel and documentation. Creating Linux or windows based virtual machines can be done in a few clicks and there are multiple ways for connecting to virtual instances also. All the basic server related tasks like managing IP's, Firewall etc can be done easily from the same panel.
