Pros: The cost is the most attractive part of Donor Perfect. For small organizations needing a database to get prospects and current donor information in one place for importing and exporting, this program is ideal. Having something inexpensive and yet widely used in our community of nonprofits, had definite advantages. There are many features of large software organizations that makes it a great deal and the add-ons are reasonable once your organization is able to take the next step.

Cons: Troubleshooting seems to be a challenge at times. Some areas you can "hover" over and figure out what the feature is or data that is expected to go in or how to use it - but it is not always clear. Unfortunately, nonprofit database information is not unique and from one software to the next, there is a learning curve for where you put what.

Overall: I have set up a number of non-profits with Donor Perfect. It is a great program for non-profits, particularly those with minimal funds, small staff, and new fundraisers. I have worked with organizations that fit every part of the spectrum. My current organization benefits from the data that I am able to retrieve about individuals, gifts, history... There are so many advantages to building relationships but also the ability to have data and notes that is easily retrieved and instrumental in the smooth transition of development staff attrition.

Comments: Overall, this system has worked very well and I look forward to learning more about how I can better use its functions and capabilities. I can't comment much on the financial side of things because I mostly enter data and run spreadsheets for mail merging for mailings.

Pros: Customer Support and Training has been the most awesome feature of using DonorPerfect for me. I have learned a lot from the webinars available and whenever I call support for a certain problem, the staff are always very knowledgeable, professional and patient.

Cons: DonorPerfect has some features that I find cumbersome or just don't work well. (or maybe it's user ignorance!) The system is set up to have a "man and wife record" but if you have a man and a wife that have different roles (flags) and different cell phone numbers etc... you have to lump the info together in the record. You can make two separate records, but then when doing mailings, you will get duplicate mailings to one household. We also have the same problem with having an organization record, for e.g. ABC Corp. with Bob Smith as contact and then an individual record for Bob Smith. This is because sometimes ABC Corp donates and sometimes Bob Smith will donate as an individual by playing golf or running a 5K or contributing personally to the Annual Appeal. But again we don't want two mailings to go to Bob Smith. I also have a problem when receipting donations that after I generate the receipts and go back to where you update the batch, "All transactions" button has been defaulted to, even though I have chosen "user transactions". If I don't remember to go check that, I end up updating all the transactions instead of just my own. I also have wondered about making the filter building less cumbersome by having a way to build filters using more than two variables at a time. For a complicated filter you have to do several compound filters to get what you want.

Comments: Donor Perfect is on par with some of the top CRM programs for the nonprofit at a price point that is affordable. The training modules online are great resources and their support is top notch. I have implemented DP from the bottom up and the process was seamless and helped us create a great cultivation program. This is a system that requires maintenance and good input practices. I would place this at the advanced/intermediate level and recommend it for a NPO with a full-time development staff. If you are looking for a robust, trustworthy and scalable system this is it but be prepared to dig in deep to the training modules and in the end your fundraising programs will benefit.

Pros: Donor Perfect is one of the mainstays in nonprofit donor/constituent management and there is a reason for their longevity. This is a robust system that is more complex than some of the newer entries into the market that tout cloud, ease of use and a free website builder. I have always thought that the gimmicky add ons is kind of like a realtor staging a home and putting potted plants on warped areas of the floor so you can't see them. With Donor Perfect, no frills just serious computing and data mining power. Standing out is their quest to stay relevant and they are continuously updating their software with the latest proven trends in the CRM space and have done a wonderful job with their updates. You can manage the full life cycle of a donor using this one system, create web forms for online donation gathering, mobile fundraising capabilities and full integration with QBO and other financial programs.Their support is outstanding and very responsive and they also offer free one and one training as part of the support package. I actually had a staff workshop day for training and they had a trainer come on a web conference and she trained our staff. It was amazing.

Cons: The system is a true CRM style system and there is a learning curve so be prepared to get the training you need to be able to train staff. It is worth the investment and will benefit your revenue goals to use the system fully. One area that always was a point of initial frustration was report generation. It took me a while to fully grasp the reporting.

Pros: The integration with Constant Contact allows us to see whether a person is opening our emails (and create calculated fields based on their engagement) without having to log into Constant Contact. And we can still take advantage of Const Contact's good reputation, style templates and easy user interface. I like that I can set up monthly donations within our system and the credit card data is stored there (securely). There is a lot of flexibility in what you can do. The downside to this is the more you customize/deviate from the standard "donor only tracking" the less the built in reports will help you.

Cons: You can not find, sort, view and edit a subset of records within the database. We end up exporting most of our reports to excel, which is very counter-intuitive, takes more time and often ends up resulting in a lot more work as people edit the excel spreadsheet which then must be re-imported. The lack of this functionality is causing us to look around at other software. It does not have a good way to manage households: they recommend putting spouses on the same record, and if one is a business owner (whose business gives separately), the business shows up as a duplicate record on many reports and must be manually removed. And I have no idea how they would handle it if you put spouses on separate records (so you could track their volunteer hours separately, for example)! How would their donations show up? How would you make sure they didn't receive duplicate mailings? If you were segmenting your database into 3 chunks (based on giving history), how would you make sure that the two spouses ended up on the same list? The automatic download (from weblink forms) is very primitive--there is not a very functional de-duplication system that allows you to compare the records being added with what is already in the database. So as a result, you are likely to lose data or end up with lots of duplicates. The calculated fields can be very powerful, but they are SO counter-intuitive. They do not allow you to create formulas using if/then terminology without having to create multiple calculated fields that interact with each other...and there is no way to group the calculations together so you can remember what you did. I wish they used standard formula protocol like excel and filemaker do.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it first. If you're going to customize it, take the time to figure out how their standard reports calculate first, so that you don't inadvertently screw up the reports. (for example, we are trying to track "purchases" that we don't want to show up as donations. We put these purchases $ amount in a custom field, thinking this would make them not show up on the fundraising reports. However, fields like "last donation amount" were coming up as "$0" since they found the most recent "gift" record (even if the "amount" field was blank, like on our purchase records). It's fixable with workarounds, but it means reprogramming a lot of the standard reports. Likely we need to re-evaluate how we're tracking these so we don't have to redo all the built in stuff.

Pros: DPO is in the "cloud" which means PAALS volunteers and staff can work with it wherever they using just a web browser. Also, the DP mobile app makes it very easy to access donor information wherever you are.

DPO has almost unlimited flexibility to add new fields and configure screen design. PAALS is using DPO not only to track Donor information, but also to track information about the dogs we have in training, about our clients who have or are waiting on a service dog and about our hundred plus volunteers. And the custom report writer allows us to create reports for almost any purpose we need.

The optional WebLink Pro module has allowed us to create web pages quickly and easily to process event registrations and single or recurring donations. These are easily integrated into our existing website. The donation and donor information is automatically integrated into DPO saving much repetitive data entry.

DPO also has automated interfaces to Quickbooks and Constant Contact.

Cons: The event management module as currently implemented is somewhat cumbersome and is not integrated with WebLink. However, Softerware has posted that the next update will address some of these issues.

Softerware does not have an alliance with PayPal. Thus we are unable to include an option to for donors to contribute via PayPal on our Weblink forms. So we have to maintain a separate set of forms on our website for people who want to use PayPal.

The DP mobile application does not use the customized screens that are shown in DPO. It currently has a generic interface which makes information appear in different place/order than what a user sees online. Also, DP Mobile does not hide fields which have been marked hidden in the online version. Thus DP mobile, while useful, is much less usable than it could be.

Overall: PAALS is a small non-profit (around 200K in annual revenue and less than five employees). We have found DPO to be a very large help in managing our charity by allowing us to track all of our pertinenent information in one place that is accessible anywhere. The information in DPO used to be on several dozen spreadsheets or in QuickBooks. Duplication of data was everywhere (particularly email addresses) and no one really knew which was correct. Simply eliminating all the duplicates and multiple lists has saved us quite a bit of time and money.

I have used Softerware's telephone, email and online chat support. In all cases the support personnel were knowledgeable and helped resolve my problem or answer my questions -- usually in minutes

I would highly recommend DPO for any non-profit that wants to grow their donor base and/or who wants to get their data organized.

Comments: I would NOT recommend DonorPerfect. It's difficult to use and expensive.

Pros: It does all the things you may be looking for in donor management such as donor records, reporting and more (the problem is figuring out how to use it)

Cons: There are 75 ways to do the same thing which makes it very user UN-friendly and impossible to remember how to do the most basic reports

Pros: From my very first conversation with the regional account manager to which I was assigned through the decision to purchase DPO, my experience has been an extremely positive one. I had spent a great deal of time researching donor management systems and had narrowed the field down to three: DonorPerfect, E-Tapestry, and GiftWorks. GiftWorks did not have the functionality that we required, so I eliminated it early on. After working with both E-Tapestry and Donor Perfect on a free trial basis, I found the "intuitiveness" of DPO to be the selling point for me. In addition, I know this will sound silly to many, but the fact that there is so much color in the DPO system was a huge plus in favor of this product. Since I spend a great deal of time using the system, ANY color other than black, white and grey helps my eyes, and seems to make data entry a more positive experience. Both our immediate and future needs will be easily met by DPO, and customer support is superb.

Cons: If anything could be changed, I would prefer that DPO have their own payment processing system. Currently, DPO's payment processing is done through Mercury Payment Systems. While we have not encountered any difficulty using a separate entity for payment processing (we've had a similar system in the past), our webmaster would prefer DonorPerfect to process online payments as opposed to going through another entity such as Mercury Payment Processing.

Overall: I would wholeheartedly recommend DPO to any organization requiring donor management software. After spending hours generating reports for the development folks from an Excel spreadsheet with 1500 donors, I have truly enjoyed learning how to generate different reports with DPO....in a fraction of the time it had taken previously. We have had many tributes given recently, and it is with such ease that tributes may be added, a gift linked to that tribute, and a notification generated for the person to be contacted. When corporations purchase sponsorships for our annual gala, I can link the corporate sponsor to the person within our non-profit organization who secured the sponsorship-no more guesswork! I am sure there are features I have yet to discover and utilize to their fullest extent, but we are most pleased with DPO. Pricing is competitive, one does not have to be a computer genius in order to use the system, and all the help one needs is readily available.

Comments: It is a relatively customizable SQL system. If you are primarily mail based and not internet based, it is a good system. Again customer support is very good. But it seems to have grown out of the pre-internet world and is a long way from a modern UI feel. (It was only August 2016 that an attempt was made toward mobile friendly donations forms.)

Pros: Customer support has been very good. They help where they can and know their limitations. There are times when you can find solutions that customer support cannot. But if they don't know, they don't try to make something up.

Cons: UI is out of date. If your donors are old, it may be ok. If your donors shop Amazon and expect that quality, you will be disappointed. For example, online giving forms will take your donors off your website to DonorPerfect's secure payment system. You either have to do this in an iframe (and lose all hope of mobile friendly formatting), or open the donation in another window and let the donor go off your site (for the most part). If you use the API, the rules you use to clean data and tabulate custom values won't work. There is no way to trigger those actions for data that enters through the API. My current frustration is that if you want to use PDF receipt attachments, the PDFs are generated as 72dpi images. That is the quality of a 1990's era fax.

Pros: It looks pretty and they have sales people. The sales people will come out and sell the development people on this, and then they will have some person come out and charge you a whole bunch to convert your system. At that point, they will delete all your years and years of prospecting data points. If you have patrons (ie ticket buyers), each of them will now cost you in the database. It is a terrible terrible system. The single worst in terms of cost to benefit ratio. It's a lemon.

Cons: The system creates a "mexican standoff" when integrating with software solutions partners, such as Agile Ticketing solutions. Nobody will take responsiblity for the fact that they did not think about how the system is supposed to integrate for the mission-critical accounting function. They will not call the accountants into the room, and they never created a manual. They say it is supposed to integrate. It does not. The first option on their phone tree is "if you have reconciliation issues." Duh. That's an emergency because after rolling out their product, they didn't think about reconciliation functions.

Pros: The colors are occasionally pretty and it uses computers and it is software I have to say something nice.

Cons: There are numerable problems with this software:

1. The pricing penalizes prospecting. Since you are paying by donor, you might as well save money and use index cards because that's what the staff will do: fear of creating a new record and incurring an expense. Why integrate an e-mail list if you have to use a completely different other system because you, as an arts organization have lots of patron records and you can't put all your touchpoints into one place. Potential donors - forget about them because it will cost much much much more to ever import any of your microdonors because of the absolutely stupid way this stuff is priced. This violates a fundamental law of fundraising: Prospects become patrons become members become donors, and if you don't get your prospects into the software, you are breaking the cycle of giving and therefore killing your future donor pool.

2. No sales engineering. They say they will, but nobody ever meets with the accounting staff. They don't do fund accounting correctly, and there is no integration module (or at least they leave you to the mercy of their infomercial webinar things that don't work while they nickel and dime you for every new feature). Credit cards, especially, are a nightmare because they don't do batching. Be in store for some angry auditors because it is simply impossible to basic things this software is supposed to do.

3. Non GAAP revenue recognition = bad. Terrible, even.

4. No sales tax handling for member items/merch

Comments: The software is excellent, but almost more than that, the customer service is Platinum-level. I have been supported in every way imaginable throughout the installation, through their excellent Knowledgebase, and when we're really stuck on something (which doesn't happen often), we've paid for the top level of support, which is amazing. Worth every penny for this small nonprofit.

Pros: I love that DP integrates with Constant Contact and with QuickBooks. I particularly like the ease of use - anyone I've ever hired can sit down, and with minimal direction, can be entering data and pulling reports within a short period of time. The reporting features are very strong. We use the WebLinkPro option - I highly recommend taking advantage of this functionality.

Cons: I do wish the event module was more built out. I can't pull a lot of reports out of it directly, so I've figured out workarounds. All in all, though, it's still a very helpful feature.

Pros: Donor Perfect Online was a great solution to address some issues we were dealing with this time last year. Our base of donors has been growing for the past five years and the software we had been using was becoming more and more difficult to handle our needs.

Here are some of the top selling points:

*Integration of Event management

*Integration with Quickbooks

*Totally customizable on many levels, including mail merge, tracking codes, and reports

*Integration with Constant Contact

*Web donation pages

*Credit card processing

*Smart Actions (automatic prompts by email, popups and the like to remember to make calls)

*Contact record keeping

*Grant management

*Powerful receipt-creation (including email w/PDFs)

*Knowledgebase/online community & forum

*Ipad app

Cons: Fairly steep learning curve. It's a powerful system, so learning the ins and outs of exporting lists and developing MS Word templates can be daunting (we posted some in the KB for others to use). Fortunately we have full support, so answers to questions are usually just a phone call away.

Also, I could have used a bit more support as we were creating online templates for various web pages (Network for Good created one for us for $200). On the subject of NFG, we decided not to let our subscription lapse and completely switch over to DPO's weblink system because NFG just came out with a new system that recognizes the user platform and adjusts the layout (ie for smartphones and tablets). It would be nice to see a more robust platform, but we created some very useful pages for selling tickets to our events that will work great and save the cost of adding more pages over at NFG.

Overall: I highly recommend Donor Perfect Online. It was exactly what we needed. I am an advanced user, so I think I found it easier to implement than others might find, but once you get your staff trained on, it is an extremely powerful constituent management tool. Tracking a large group of people can be difficult if you are relying on a couple of spreadsheets, an access database, and Constant Contact. With DPO, this all gets wrapped into one powerful, flexible, and customizable system.

Comments: I highly recommend DonorPerfect Online as a mission-critical application we could not operate without. It's a great value for what we get.

Pros: DonorPerfect Online is a robust, scalable, flexible, and very stable application, and continues to be improved over time. It does everything we need and quite a bit more. It allows us to rapidly deploy customized donation portals. Up time is nearly 100%. Support personnel are prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable.

Cons: As with any web-based product (versus a native app), certain functions are a bit more limited, such as being unable to sort report columns by clicking on them. Not a huge deal, just a few minor annoyances as with any product.

Pros: The customer service is promptly available and is always knowledgeable and friendly. We have had much success with the Madrid of options available for services and reports. There is always training webinars available and new helpful services coming out. The web-forms are so easy and efficient for online donors to purchase tickets or make donations. The credit card processing works seamlessly with the information downloads.

Cons: The reports can be very tricky to pull up, however, there is intricate detail that can be obtained, so perhaps that's why.

Overall: Donor database and tax reporting for a large volume and diverse systemic need. Reconciling accounts for different GL needs is a breeze. Customer service support as been the very best I have ever experienced.

Pros: Customer service is exceptional. The very basic or preloaded reporting functions are easy to use. Webinars can be helpful, but are time consuming. Search box has the option to show similar results so spelling names correctly is not paramount.

Cons: Without updating to the second or third tier the DonorPerfect software is extremely frustrating. There is also a huge learning curve to get used to. It feels as though whenever we want to customize a report, or use the system beyond its basic search features it is either much to complicated or the system requires and upgrade. So the bang for the buck is not there unless you upgrade. Once the system is upgraded it could be great, however that is not an option for our small non-profit.

Pros: We love the ease of use of the system and friendly look. The customizable dashboard allows us to be in control of the most important information we need to see and the full integration system makes it a all in one stop for information. Recently we began using the mobile app and additional payment mobile card reader which allows us to have a greater impact on our fundraising. Great Job on this new feature!

Cons: The older donorpages site was not the most user friendly experience and we did not have a big impact with it. We are still to experiment with the new crowdfunding platform and we look forward to that.

Pros: It is a great way to keep track of donors, create mailing lists, and track donations. I also love that you can customize it to track exactly what you would like.

Cons: Using the filters to create mailings lists can be very confusing. You have to be very precise and use many filters or else you won't get what you want. I wish there was a more user friendly way to create mailing lists.

Pros: I enjoy the ease of entering and searching for data as well as being able to also use the software for our volunteer program and special events.

Cons: I still sometimes have to call customer service to run reports as I get a little confused with the process. However, every single customer service rep I have spoke to has been extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.

Overall: Overall, my experience with DonorPerfect has been great. The variety of reports are helpful and fundraising a little less challenging.

Pros: DonorPerfect is a canned product that does most of what we want for a donor program. We can track our donors, recording their donations and making notes about interactions with them. It helps us in printing receipts and address labels. Their customer service is knowledgeable for the most part.

Cons: It is hard to customize. They do updates to "improve" the product. They problem is that if you have customized something or created a work-around, you have problems each time they update. Sometimes their improvements make it more difficult instead of making things better.

Overall: It tracks our donors without making us pay a huge fee.

Comments: I have worked this software for over 10 years beginning with the installed version and moving to the online. It's a great software and as with any software there are small hiccups, but they constantly come out with updates and solutions to the issues.

Pros: DonorPerfect is a great software, that offers amazing reporting capabilities. The ability to export into Excel, Word or pdf and scheduling of reports and the SmartActions feature to set up automatic alerts i.e., to the director with the name and phone number of a top donor so he can call and thank them; or to schedule a report to go out to those on a daily, weekly or monthly basis is great especially if you are on vacation. They also have a great online Suggest & Vote forum where you can input ideas on new features and if selected they will become a part of the system; they listen and help provide solutions.

Cons: The formatting of the reports are a bit wonky when exported but you find a way to work through it because all the information is there.

Pros: Ease of navigation. Can merge accounts easily. Really enjoy the daily notifications of who's monthly payment processed and if there was a failed payment. I also really enjoy the app.

Cons: I like to leave note from my interactions with donors and it can be a little cumbersome to get to. It can also be confusing where to leave the notes, considering you have multiple areas. So for someone who is newer to this product, finding them can be difficult. I also have to do a lot of work when someone's cc has been declined. I've heard that they do not receive a notification about it, so I need to look into that feature and see if there is something I've not set up, or if DP doesn't send an email to the donor.

Comments: I like DonorPerfect, but I do not like a smaller program left out of essential tools. This is a better program for someone to transition to when the organization knows what they need and could enter at the level that is BOTH cost-effective AND gives them the tools they need.

Pros: DonorPerfect has been in the business for quite a few years. Using the product a few years ago I was very pleased that it was easy to use and teach and found it to be an overall great experience.

Cons: I recently explored the software as an option for relatively new nonprofit. DonorPerfect offered lots of entry points with reasonable pricing at each. What I found, however, is that for an organization to be most effective adding on modules is necessary and moving up to the next level may be wisest. Thus, the entry-level options are not really the cost-effective tools as they are promoted.

Pros: Donor Perfect has the best customer support in the industry. In addition, they have partnerships with various other product providers that make integration easy. I wouldn't use any donor management system.

Cons: Would like a way to manage alumni better, we are a school and like many donor management packages we are forced to treat alumni like donors.

Overall: We use Donor Perfect to manage our donors and alumni giving. We have also used several of their partner products and we couldn't be happier. As a bonus they have one of the best user conferences in the industry. Once a year they host a hands on conference that gives practical solutions to common fundraising issues. Whether you are an experienced fundraiser or just starting out you will love the many solutions DonorPerfect and their partners offer.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure when you are looking at the product you look at the various options available like Weblink and DP Payment Processing.

This software is amazing at data collection and management for our NFP development team!

Pros: I really like the information tracking components to Donor Perfect software. We can also keep track of older donors and generate reports that assist with data analytics to help us reach our fundraising goals.

Cons: Exporting data to other software that we use, like Quick Books could be a bit more simplified. Sometimes account numbers do not align when information is exported and then uploaded into Quick Books.

Comments: For many years our organization has been stuck with an old and expensive software. Our organization suffered in a sea of inefficiency until we migrated to DonorPerfect (DP) last year about this time. DP is very user friendly and we can also use our donor database in many useful and efficient ways. Our waste of postage and printing that resulted from data usability errors is continues to plummet. Most of all we are able to manage and get reports of our donors for a very robust fundraising such as customization of content for various of our donor segments.

Pros: Professional and courteous Customer driven Support. You can reach support by phone or online, waiting is very minimal. Excellent Dashboards and various customized reports Enough training for an already very user friendly donor databse

Cons: If you have no clue about use of computer driven donor databases, you should be willing to learn on how to navigate. It will take time but you will be glad you did.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it, and you'll be rewarded with your foresight for choosing DP!!

Comments: other staff members are able to run reports that sort donors by different criteria - I will learn how to do this too, in the next year, but so far, my colleagues love this feature.

Pros: easy and logical way to enter all the data and then check it later to verify contributions. nice that it has room for notes etc.

Cons: sometimes DP does not catch the correlation between a new name I am listing and a previous entry's ID (of which that new name is part of the already-listed donor) until after I have typed everything in ... I would like to have this pop up when I do the initial search, not after I have spent some time entering it. Perhaps you know a way I can streamline this, or you can tell me what I am doing wrong. It's probably operator error (me)!

Comments: I have worked with Donor Perfect for three years on a part-time basis. Donor Perfect offers a yearly seminar as a way to learn more about the program. You can sit in on lectures and sign up for a one on one session with a technician. A fantastic tool is the Donor Perfect Dashboard, which a client may customize to suit their needs. The dashboard offers a lot of information from your database at a one-stop view. Cycles and Analysis reports are at your fingertips. Donor Perfect is very accommodating with printing to excel or PDF. Donor Perfect offers Webinars and online instruction for every topic. Donor Perfect offers the best in call-in technical support. Every time I have called for assistance with a report or query, the technician can walk you through with a follow-up email with the steps taken, and can also take hold of your computer and go through the steps on your screen as you watch and follow the steps required for the outcome you desire. Donor Perfect has made a few changes over the years to reports, either through the request of users or through their own maintenance.

Pros: There is so much that this program offers. The customer support is top notch. Every technician is extremely knowledgeable and understands what end goal the client is trying to reach.

Cons: Donor Perfect could use a User's Guide that is not as in-depth as the manuals. I would definitely recommend a Filters 101, or a Settings Introduction, or a Building Reports manual.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a fantastic program. Pay the little extra for premium service. Do not hesitate to call Tech Support with any questions. They are very helpful!

Pros: After helping my last organization transition to DonorPerfect, I came into my new role to find my team unhappy with Raiser's Edge. I immediately introduced DP and helped my team transition to DP which has made a HUGE difference in our day to days!

Cons: There are extra charges for a lot of add-ons. Overall great product, but not enough time in the day to learn everything!

Comments: The automatic online donation function makes me ecstatic!

Pros: This database is so user-friendly! I rave about DP and recommend it to everyone I know. I just recommended DP to the class (I am taking online classes for my CRFE certification). I have used other databases (including the one that "brags about being top rated" - which 100% beg to differ), and none come close to the ease of DP.

Cons: I don't like the event module. The improvements made to this are much better (I was a beta tester for this module years ago), but it's still not 100% up to where I want it to be, but I work around it. I wish there was an age demographic that worked properly and was reliable.

For example, we built an interface to Constant Contact for email marketing, QuickBooks for accounting (QB Online coming soon), ReadySetAuctions for managing auctions, DonorSearch for prospect research, etc.. The data resides in DonorPerfect, and that data is shared and used by these partner products to achieve your goals (raise more, save time, work more efficiently). We manage this growing network of partners through DPConnect (connect.donorperfect.com).

As for reporting, we recently launched our new Easy Report Writer, which is receiving rave reviews from clients for its ease of use and versatility. You can still report on custom fields and customize reports, and now even schedule their delivery.

Pros: The DP system is intuitive and easy to use. There are many standard reports and it's easy to create custom reports. If you run in to a problem, the support team is fabulous. A real person answers the phone!

Cons: It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of some of the other systems I've used, but it I have learned they are not as important as I once thought.

Comments: And after I asked them to stop, they continued to charge me and refuse to refund my monthly fees.

Pros: Stay away. First, their system did not identify stolen credit cards that were processed by them. Then they continued to charge me monthly for 15 months after I told them to stop our participation. And finally, they did not refund these monthly charges.

Cons: There is a flaw in the system that allowed stolen credit card information to pass through. I observed little interest on their part in fixing their shortcomings.

We reached out to you to get the required information to conduct an investigation into your claim of credit card fraud, but we did not hear back from you. Our own investigation revealed mostly successful processing transactions. The only exceptions were credit card "declines", which were fails by the issuing bank of the credit card, and one invalid account. We did not see any indication of processing being attempted with known, stolen credit card numbers. Plus, our payment processing team received no calls or emails regarding any payment processing issues. As a goodwill gesture, we offered you a partial refund, but it was refused. Comments: Donor Perfect has been a wonderful tool, and continues to improve its functionality. I would recommend this software to nonprofits, and even for profit institutions.

Pros: It is easy to use, provides reports that can show an individual donor's contributions, or the top 100, or 5,000, depending on the need. I'm still learning some of the many functions available to me!

Cons: Because we also use Donor Search, it would be nice if they were a bit more compatible. I like both products, and use them both a lot. It would be a great idea that if you update DP, you would also update DS, and vice versa. It would make mailings so much more functional and easy. Just a thought...

Pros: I have been using Donor Perfect for a little over a year and have been very pleased with it. I have had really good luck with the support, as has my IT person. We had an issue with the mobile payment processing hardware and Donor Perfect refunded our money after a lot of support time went into trying to make it work (we are in a rural area and the broadband may not have been sufficient) but Donor Perfect was great in all aspects of working on the issues.

Cons: I have used several different databases, starting with DataPerfect (a WordPerfect product) in the 1980s. After that I have used ACT for about 30 years, then before DonorPerfect, my nonprofit used an Access database. There are a few aspects of DonorPerfect that could be streamlined - having used ACT, I feel that some of the DP reports could be easier to pull, but for the most part, I can get everything that I need. My greatest regret is that we could not get the mobile payment processing to work because it would have been ideal for events.

Recommendations to other buyers: When we decided on DonorPerfect, we looked at several different donor databases. We decided on DonorPerfect because of the stellar support (we do have a support package) and the features that make DonorPerfect easy to use.

Comments: We recently implemented DonorPerfect at our not-for-profit early intervention centre. The software has impressed us with the ease of use, adaptability and functionality. The ability to create communication campaigns around the various types of supporters we have has been valuable to us in the promotion of raffles and other fundraising events. The online knowledge base is an incredible source of information. Make sure you take the training or read the knowledge base before you start to use the system.

Pros: Functionality-ability to upload spreadsheets, have mail merges, create email campaigns, issue tax receipts. Online "suggestion box" for additions to the software with users voting creates popular new uses. Training/Support - the team is readily available and will work through issues with you. Also, great online learning tools and best practice resources. Ability to expand as needs grow.

Cons: The software is only as strong as the data put into it, so you need to be able to dedicate resources not only to get the system up and running in the best way for your organization, but also on an ongoing basis. The system is not compatible with all accounting software so, if this is important (if you have high volume of donation) check for compatibility or you may be faced with double entry.

Recommendations to other buyers: Have a clear idea what you want the system to do for you and include people who will be using it in the product demonstrations.

Comments: Great product! Definitely, would recommend to other nonprofit organizations.

Pros: Very organized and reports are easy to pull.

Cons: Not much flexibility when it comes to the creative end. Meaning for Weblink and creating donation forms - the template is a little dated and not much to work with. Also, you have to manually make each donation from mobile responsive ... which we did not realize until a couple months ago and had already lost several large donations.

Recommendations to other buyers: Definitely use their customer support... they are very helpful. And also their webinars are very helpful as well.

Just as an FYI, custom forms are available, and clients can choose to alter the CSS themselves, or have us do it for them. Please contact your account manager at 800-848-3279 for more information. As for the mobile responsiveness, all new forms are now mobile responsive. However, if you had a form created before we made this enhancement, we gave you the choice as to whether or not to make it responsive. We didn¿t want to change the look and feel of your form without your consent, to ensure that it looks the way you want after the change. It's always a tough call on whether or not to do it for you automatically, or show you how to do it yourself so you can make a decision that¿s best for your organization. Our product management team will be reviewing our process to see if there is a better way to roll out these types of changes.

Comments: We are a small non-profit organization working to end poverty and homelessness for women & children in our community. In 2007 we were using a database that was older and out of date; the company hadn't been able to afford updates and support for a few years. We lost 4 months of data that had to be reentered once, and could never backup. Fixing these problems would have cost us as much as switching to DonorPerfect, so we went with the installed version. DonorPerfect is a much easier, user-friendly system and it can also be easily customized. Although it was challenging to design the various codes, design the database and clean up all the data for transfer, the actual implementation was quick. I would say it took about 4 months on our end, talking to their design team. Once the software was in place, the webinars were essential to learn the basics, in addition to the manual. We mostly email for support, unless it is urgent. The support team can log into our computers, which makes it easy to show them any issues. The only reason I don't give top stars is because we are on the west coast and they are on the east coast so we lose some time for responses. If I email something at the end of the week we usually don't get a response until the next week, for example.

Our support coverage extends until 8PM Eastern time. Depending on time of day, sometimes email or chat can get an immediate response; however, for the fastest turnaround time we recommend that clients contact us by phone. We monitor our response times continuously, and adjust our staffing resources and priorities to provide the quickest possible response to everyone without cutting anyone off.

Comments: We are grateful for Donor Perfects' product which helps us in our mission to empower at-risk kids. Like most products of its type, it can be complicated. But, the Donor Perfect team is always there to help.

Pros: We have been using Donor Perfect for four years now. During the time we have been able to double our revenues - thanks in part to Donor Perfect and the support tools which come with it. We have everything integrated - constant contact, website pages, donation processing, and event registration. The ease of integration and automatic recording of online donations has made Donor Perfect our tool of choice.

Pros: I have worked in this software for two small non-profits where there was only one person in the development office. It is easy to learn and easy to customize. We also enjoy the level of support that we receive. The staff is very accommodating and takes to time to make sure the customer understands.

Cons: What I like least about the software is that there are so many steps that have to be taken to get a report of what you want. It can be time consuming, especially if the user doesn't quite understand how the software terminology is set up and from where certain items need to be pulled.

Pros: This software system makes checking and combining duplicates quick and easy. Entering new data, sending thank you letters and emails, and building reports is very easy and saves me a lot of time. The chat feature is so helpful as well.

Cons: At first, the codes and reports are a little confusing. But, after some time it is easier to use.

Pros: Really like the general ease of use. The interface is very user friendly and cleanly laid out. Great flexibility in creating many types of reports needed for many of our financial reporting needs. The knowledge base is helpful.

Cons: The Search function doesn't always bring up the name I'm looking for. At first, found it complicated to set up receipting for Thank you letters and for email receipting. Although the knowledge base is very helpful, I found i had to print out much of it because of the multiple screens.

Overall: Very helpful and useful reporting, as well as ways to cost effectively thank our donors.

Overall: We changed over to Donor Perfect about 6 years ago. Having Donor Perfect as a web based program has been very valuable to us. Any of us that work with Donor Perfect can log into the system without having to remote into our computer at work. We have people of various computer abilities working in Donor Perfect, and the person with the lowest ability didn't have trouble learning the daily functions of entering gifts. I manage the automatic giving, and as long as I put the data in correctly the feature works well. I can set up my automatic giving to happen on a day when I am not here. The preview feature lets me be sure that all of my donors are included in the batch before I run the batch. I came into managing the automatic giving in Donor Perfect with no Donor Perfect experience. I was able to watch some videos and get up and going with no training - just a few calls to tech support when I entered data incorrectly. :)

Recommendations to other buyers: Take the time to watch the training videos, and when doing the automatic giving (EFT) take the time to think thru how you want these to run so you set them up right the first time.

Pros: The true ease of using the product and the customer service

Cons: There is so much the product can do that we know we do not have a full grasp of its capacity yet. Training can be expensive.

Overall: We have used Donor Perfect as our donor database since 2009 and have been extremely pleased with the ease of use. The best part is that as we have grown and developed the software and donor tracking methods have grown right along with us. As we have identified new needs for tracking donors, identified new donor methods to make online donations, growing and/or modifying donor touches, Donor Perfect has been right there with us. Their customer service is timely and efficient. Their sales individuals are extremely helpful often suggesting tools that we had overlooked or really did not understand the scope of what was available to meet our needs. Overall, for any non profit regardless of size, status of development, scope of programs, Donor Perfect software and Donor Perfect Products has meet and often excels our expectations.

Recommendations to other buyers: Loving the ability to participate in webinars. Especially the free ones that explain changes, updates or options.

Comments: This system is what I know and favor.

Pros: DonorPerfect is the only software I have used since venturing into the fundraising arena. We moved to the cloud version years ago and it was a great improvement over the desktop version. It is user-friendly for the most part and continues to add to its available options. My problem is finding the time to take advantage of all the options. While I have looked into other companies over the years, no other platform has made me feel that they can beat what I have with DonorPerfect.

Cons: I still hit some bumps in the road when trying to create new reports. But I think this is more from lack of available time for me than the system.

Pros: Extremely skilled and knowledgeable support personnel who helped with the configuration of our system, and have since worked with us to customize filters, reports and processes to fit the specific needs of our organization. The result is that our organization gets more out of this software for our money. In the past we paid more for a database that did not offer the same adaptability and flexibility. We're more efficient as an organization with Donor Perfect as the platform supporting our development office.

Cons: Continue to work on integration/ease of use of the events module. It does not interface with weblink entirely efficiently - the clunkiness can result in errors in the response data.

It's not particularly user friendly but someone who has experience with SQL statements would find it quite easy to use

Comments: Customer support is very good

Pros: The fact that it has an integrated events module which is perfect for an event which requires pre-assigned seating. It is perfect for a relatively small non-profit organization with a small budget.

Cons: The events module needs some tweaks to make it less cumbersome to use but, on the whole, it is very good
