They have excellent training and customer service, as well. Pros DonorPerfect is a comprehensive donations software system. Reports are easy to produce and have contributed to audit compliance. Cons At the beginning we had some issues with transferring data. The additional cost of this software required a corresponding adjustment to our budget. What I mean is that, none of their "let's do this" is easily accomplished on the DP platform. I am heavily involved in our end-of-year donations process and realizing that we're NOT using DP to track our outreach and donations received; but using DP as a redundant CRM that has to be updated manually. My secret 3-year plan is to move us out of DonorPerfect, because again, a free plan with Airtable could very easily replace our current procedure with DP. Pros It reminds me of the tech-solution optimism of the early aughts. It is "user-friendly" and offers a lot support. All of the compliments towards DonorPerfect (DP) are true. You can set up online donation forms to receive donations and DP has a native processing gateway to process that. Cons You can find a lot of out-of-the-box-plug-and-play database apps on the market today such as Notion, Airtable, etc. If you have any experience using those or learning about databases, nothing about DP makes sense. I just want to see "what is the latest donation?" "show me the last 5 donations" and I cannot get that answer immediately. It takes at least 8 clicks (Reports > Report Center > choose report > four clicks to set period > hit Run Report) and a little time drinking coffee before you can see the answer. DP is user-friendly in that, it has its own language and logic about where any information or feature is. A new user who's less tech literate will have to learn this, and yes there ARE resources, webinars, on-demand webinars, help articles, support chats, all available for you to fully master DonorPerfect. I am not sure how much of what you learn could be applied outside of DP. An impatient user familiar with databases will throw up their hands immediately just like I did. Review Source CM Catherine M. Cons Forms module that comes as part of the base product is outdated. Support for 3rd party integration with Constant Contact is limited. Pros DonorPerfect is incredibly easy to customize for each organization's needs. Automated prompts are easily set up to flag donors who should be contacted, and a "contacts" tracking feature to track interactions and set reminders for future touch points. It makes moving prospects toward larger gifts strategic and meaningful. Cons It can be challenging to keep all staff entering information into DonorPerfect in the same way, which can make report running challenging. Because the CRM is so customizable, employees have the ability to create fields that they may use, but they are not used consistently by all employees. I particularly like the flexible reporting options which allow us to customize which fields we need. Most recently, the reevaluation of the Duplicate Removal process was well thought out. Cons There are a few personalized search fields that I wish could be part of the "quick search". I had issues with the previous duplicate removal process, I am glad it has reverted back. June 3, 2026 4.0 Overall, I would say minus some things here and there that have been "glitchy" or not helpful (i.e. reporting, deposit sections that I use on a weekly basis) this platform gives me everything I need to use for our donors on a daily basis! Customer service could use some help after hours (I.e. have an emergency response team for people that work outside of their work hours or have a different time zone) but other than that it is excellent and helpful! Pros I have found it most helpful to use donor perfect to organize and schedule donor contacts whether email or mailing them a hand written note. I also love that I can label and and see at a glance helpful information right on the beginning part of the donor's profile. The section called narrative has been helpful to use for quick notes I need our team to be able to see and read to be able to better interact with donors on a collaborative basis. When I have needed customer support, they have responded within a 24 hour period, have been helpful and apologetic when things don't work, and work quickly to resolve the issue. Donor Perfect for the most part has been easy to use and helpful for our organization this year. Cons I don't like the reporting section of donor perfect at all. There are way too many filters that are needed in order to pull info I need quickly. It also is not the most user friendly and takes time to rewatch videos and take more notes in order to use. The deposit section needs some updates to get rid of bugs/glitches, and make it faster and easy to use without a bunch of unnecessary parts to fill out each time. It is a cost effective product for our small development team and provides us with solid solutions for the reporting, mailing, and recording keeping needs we have. The customer service team goes above and beyond and always make sure issues are resloved in a timely manner. Pros Donor Perfect Online (DPO) is a great value for the cost. DPO serves our small to medium sized organization well. Its greatest assets are the simple to use reporting features and very friendly, prompt, customer service team. I've personally called their tech support often and every single time they've been able to help reslove my issue and never laughed at me when I was making a simple user error! :) Cons Our least favorite part of DPO is the way in which couples are handled in the system. If putting s couple on the same record, it is challening to identify which personal information (cell phone and email address for exmaple) goes with which person in the couple. There are work-arounds of course and we've been able to handle this with close attention to detail and consistiant recording keeping procedures. You can quickly be in contact with a support person that knows what they are doing and is able to answer your questions. The training is even better. There are good options for interfacing into other volunteer systems but would like it all in one. " April 7, 2026 5.0 My experience so far has been excellent. The training resources and the in-person trainings have been incredibly helpful and the professionalism from the staff is refreshing. Pros Customer Service from the very beginning has been so good. The knowldege of the DP staff and their ability to accommodate our organizations needs has made the on boarding process smooth and pleasant. I also love the user friendliness and the knowledge center to help me take full advantage of all the system can do to help make our fundraising efforts more seamless. Cons I think the least liked part is that the migration process has taken a lot of time but the staff has made it worthwhile so not so bad. I am both looking forward to getting access to using the database and also kind of dreading the work i have to do to clean up our records and streamline. At least, DP is user friendly and has great customer service to help me as we ramp up. I would highly recommend this platform to any non-profit organization looking to change their current CRM. Pros That you had built-in platforms, which make for ease of use and make it a one-stop shop. There are a ton of forms that you have created and thought of for accounting and event management. Your event platform is excellent as well. You have different ways to set up an event, which doesn't necessarily mean you have to include the auction piece. Cons there are a few things that could be improved on the constituent's information page, and there are some things that really aren't needed. I also was not happy with the chat support, as I am new to the system and was trying to set up an event for the first time, and I had to go through 3 chat support people before I got the right one that helped me the most and put me in the right direction. It is comprehensive and very customizable. They are constantly doing things to improve and upgrade the software. They also have many partners that provide additional services and completely integrate with DonorPerfect. Pros It is a very robust software. Since you can customize every page, it allows you to track what is most important to you. This makes donor management and collaboration very easy. Cons I find the reporting can sometimes feel clunky. There is a lot to learn about the system because it does so many things. When pulling reports it is not always easy to understand what to request to get the data you want and need. It's not amazing but it serves it's purpose and DonorPerfect does a nice job of continually trying to improve it. Pros It provides a place to capture donations and ticket sales for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. It also allows us to create a variety of online forms for various events and/or donation opportunities. Cons I don't think pulling reports is the most intuitive process. There's a lot of features with the old online form system that makes it easy to secure results, contact information with clicks and you can easily see the confirmation emails. There's a lot of structure there that should be included in the online drag and drop forms. Also, it'd be great to see SMS added w/ the Constant Contact combined subscription. The system interface is complex, but after some time spent within the system, it makes more sense to navigate. I really enjoy the chat feature to ask specific questions to the DonorPerfect support team. Similarly, the materials in the Learning Center are useful and thorough! Pros DonorPerfect is extremely comprehensive and has so many features! There really are few (if any) limits to the variety of options available, all depending on the objective of your organization. From pulling data insights, connecting with donors, sharing automatic updates and thank you letters, and more! I feel that I’ve barely scratched the surface on the full capabilities of DonorPerfect, but I’m excited to become more familiar with the system and cater our use of this system directly to the needs of our organization and the community we want to build with our donors. When the system feels confusing, I really enjoy the Learning Center and the chat features! Super helpful! Cons This is a con in a certain light, but is ultimately a necessary aspect of a major pro of DonorPerfect. Because there are soooo many capabilities and features, it can feel overwhelming and confusing at first. I think the developers do a good job of making the system interface as simple and easy-to-use as possible, but the complexity of the system definitely can feel challenging initially. Regardless, the “complexities” I’ve noted are necessary and genuinely appreciated given the endless possibilities within the system. June 11, 2026 5.0 I do the thank yous, reports and some development letters for our organization. When I have a question or need help with a report Donor Perfect customer support is very knowledgeable & understanding. They are also a pleasure to talk to! Pros What I like most about DonorPerfect is that it is a easy and friendly software that I learned quickly when I started 7 years ago and still love it! No big changes in the software for it to be a learning curve each time. Cons What I like least about DonorPerfect is that there is not an overlap in their lunch schedule if you need to reach out to them between 1:00 and 2:00. As I only work one day a week, and start very early in the morning, so to have to wait that hour if I have a question sometimes does not work for me. Review Source AJ Angie J. It's very user friendly and has great customer support! Pros Donor Perfect is very user friendly. If an issue comes up with a donor it's easy to chat with customer support to get your issue resolved. Cons On a few occasions when I contacted customer support my issue wasn't resolved. Sometimes I would start a new chat with a different person or try and figure out the situation with a coworker. Cons Honestly, there isn’t much to dislike, but if I had to note something, it can take a little time to learn all the features at first because there are so many options. May 4, 2026 4.0 It looks at donors differently, and that was a bit of a learning curve, but it's very functional. I've found that I really have no reason to look at another system, it does what I need for less than the "cadillac" systems that are crazy expensive for almost the same functionality! Pros There are some really great processes on DonorPerfect. Donor thank you letters are an almost seamless process, either in batches or in the gift screen. The event planning piece is another that I feel like I could use even better. I think it has everything we need at a more affordable price than other data management systems! Cons I'd love a few tweaks, for instance the ability to date limit people's attributes (flags) and export some reports that don't currently export - having to hand type my events report was disappointing.
