We began our quest for a new database only two years ago. Pros DonorPerfect is very easy to use with great customer support and training. Full instructions for use are incorporated right into the site. The cost is very reasonable. Integration with Constant Contact for donor communication is easy to use. Cons Searching for a donor record is not always ideal as the system is not as intuitive as one might wish. Without systems experience, it would be easy for an organization to make database design and data input decisions that could be counterproductive and lead to inefficiencies. As the external advisor for the project (coming from a systems and database management background) I had the time and expertise to deep dive, “pre-navigate”, and have conversations with both front line help and Development to guide best practices. The staff did not have either the time or the background to do so. Having said that, I found that I always got answers or resolutions to issues. The Chat support has been great in either answering a question, or knowing when to escalate a problem. Pros Customer support is above average. System is very customizable. Having consistent trainers a definite plus. Reports module builds on the strengths of consistent input practices. Cons Integration with Constant Comment is weak. Support during the initial implementation (on-boarding) was extremely weak. For an organization working with their first CRM, the DP learning curve is steep. Online Forms module is weak and the Drag and Drop forms limited in functionality. I would highly recommend this platform to any non-profit organization looking to change their current CRM. Pros That you had built-in platforms, which make for ease of use and make it a one-stop shop. There are a ton of forms that you have created and thought of for accounting and event management. Your event platform is excellent as well. You have different ways to set up an event, which doesn't necessarily mean you have to include the auction piece. Cons there are a few things that could be improved on the constituent's information page, and there are some things that really aren't needed. I also was not happy with the chat support, as I am new to the system and was trying to set up an event for the first time, and I had to go through 3 chat support people before I got the right one that helped me the most and put me in the right direction. The system interface is complex, but after some time spent within the system, it makes more sense to navigate. I really enjoy the chat feature to ask specific questions to the DonorPerfect support team. Similarly, the materials in the Learning Center are useful and thorough! Pros DonorPerfect is extremely comprehensive and has so many features! There really are few (if any) limits to the variety of options available, all depending on the objective of your organization. From pulling data insights, connecting with donors, sharing automatic updates and thank you letters, and more! I feel that I’ve barely scratched the surface on the full capabilities of DonorPerfect, but I’m excited to become more familiar with the system and cater our use of this system directly to the needs of our organization and the community we want to build with our donors. When the system feels confusing, I really enjoy the Learning Center and the chat features! Super helpful! Cons This is a con in a certain light, but is ultimately a necessary aspect of a major pro of DonorPerfect. Because there are soooo many capabilities and features, it can feel overwhelming and confusing at first. I think the developers do a good job of making the system interface as simple and easy-to-use as possible, but the complexity of the system definitely can feel challenging initially. Regardless, the “complexities” I’ve noted are necessary and genuinely appreciated given the endless possibilities within the system. Cons On a few occasions when I contacted customer support my issue wasn't resolved. Sometimes I would start a new chat with a different person or try and figure out the situation with a coworker. No one at the location had really used it to its full potential and no one was around to show me how to do it; however, the tutorials were amazing, and I was able to get started right away. We have made great strides in our use of Donor Perfect, and we will continue to explore other features that we have not utilized yet. Pros Donor Perfect is an amazing CRM with so many tools to help you in all facets of donor management. I have been using it for 3 years and I continue to learn easier and faster processes for our office. If I had to pick something it would be the transaction reporting. You have to open each one up to expand it for each day. But again, that is not that much work. Just a mouse click. For us, DonorPerfect isn’t just a tool; it’s an ally in mission-driven relationship-building. Also, DP is a tool that considers the value of money in terms of the time and security of our donors. On the other hand, they have a very efficient and attentive real-time support team; each question received a satisfactory and immediate response. Pros This past year, it helped us track donations across all stages, including those from our major annual gala and the follow-up checks that came in after. The training is flexible, the chat support is robust (and the people are friendly and professional), and once we got the hang of running reports, we couldn't believe how easy it is (we actually laughed in glad amazement). DonorPerfect will pay for itself in time saved! Pros Our team loves how much time it saves us compared to the system we had before, which we had to supplement with our own spreadsheets to capture the information we needed. Cons Some minor suggestions: A couple of the Foundations series videos went a little fast for us and would have been better divided into two videos each. We can pause the videos and rewatch items, but they were still a bit confusing because we watched them before our records transfer. We would have liked having some dummy constituents and records of our own before and during the import of our actual records. Would love to have chat support a little longer into the afternoon (we're Mountain Time). I am able to maneuver through DP while I learn and it is very intuitive. I signed up with DP because I was convinced it would be "easy" and so far it is exceeding my expectations! I like that I can use the pledges function to track multiple grants from one funding source. Cons I wish that DonorPerfect had more features related to grants, like tracking spend downs. However, I know that is beyond the scope of the program. They are wonderful. Most easiest to connect with customer service I have ever dealt with. They are always very informative and walk me through the process of any questions I may have. Cons I would have to say that running reports with all the various filters can be quite tricky and confusing at times. The customer service is great at helping with this, and once you have the filters and reports correct, it works beautifully! Security seems to be very good and requires multifactor authentication. Allows the team to all work on the platform and utilize features at the same time. Search feature is excellent and platform customization allows for it to work the way we need for donor management and fundraising campaigns. Receipting feature is also a huge timesaver and helpful for efficiency. Cons I have no major complaints about the DonorPerfect platform. Only minor pieces that would help improve usefulness and access. While security is good the ongoing authentication of device every 10 days is cumbersome. Cons There are some features that don't feel particularly useful to my organization and what we do that I don't really need access to. Also, I find the report builder to be a little clunky/confusing. When we have to make a change, it is generally intuitive and easy. Pros Donor Perfect is user friendly. Onboarding new staff is very easy because of the clean interface. The hardest part of training is to remind new staff that stationary must have the watermark correctly oriented. Cons There is only one thing that bothers me with DonorPerfect. Updating Mail Merge letters is far too cumbersome. When letterhead has to be updated, I have to go through dozens of letters by hand. Download each letter, move the original letter to a different folder or status, upload each new letter. This takes a considerable amount of time and has any number of places where an error might occur. I wish we could just download the letter that has to be updated, then upload/overwrite the existing letter by saving the new letter. Review Source AB Amie B. Last names can get tricky especially if someone has the same last name. Cons It can really be slow from time to time when I am very busy and need it to work lol but over all its not bad at all.
