If my org is going to spend the money on this tool, then I'm going to exploit it to the value of our investment. Therefore, everyone I connect with at DP is on board to make sure I get that value and has been great. 2. My experience also includes the staff at this organization and their responses. They are continually amazed I can get the software to actually help us raise funds, as opposed simply putting up with the database system they have always had which no one has really used or wanted to learn to use. 3. I've sold and implemented a version of this type of software. I knew the original owner of this software (when it was based in San Diego) and I've known about it - or interacted around it - for the last 20 years. I am impressed with the additions and flexibility in functionality as the world has been turned upside down by the net. It actually has gotten easier to handle and manage. Pros It works as described. It's flexible, so I can tailor it to our work flow/process. It gets the job done. Cons It's a little... janky looking... like - in we're-so-cutting-edge-we-dont-waste-your-money-on-unproductive-things-like-screen-and-user-eye-flow-design. Grants and Database Administrator Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great Value and Easy to Onboard and Navigate" April 22, 2020 5.0 I came to be a DonorPerfect user after being a 7 year, salesforce.com user/administrator (enterprise edition). That being said, I have found DP to be user friendly, intuitive, and easily modified. It is reliable and very affordable. Tech support is superior and I love the user input in implemented updates. Pros I believe that DP is very functional and user friendly for the non-profit organization. The application is not overly robust or full of unnecessary functionality. It performs in the functions that are necessary for recording and reporting (and much more) without having to wade through a ton of features that are superfluous. Additionally, there has been very, very little downtime due to system outages, updates, and the like. Finally, I have never had a better tech support experience in the CRM industry. Every chat, call or email is responded to almost immediately, with courtesy, professionalism, and best of all, knowledgable solutions. Cons I would like the screens to be customizable at a user level, as each team member has their own needs from the application. At this point any changes to screen "view" are at an organizational level, therefore, we must all come to a consensus on the best screen views for the whole team. The report centre is very useful when they can integrate multiple tables from donor to donation. Cons The amount of troubleshooting we had to deal with when we tried automatic integration between DP and Givecloud was not worth our time. The soft-credit report won't show the original donations as well and we couldn't modify it from the system. August 21, 2023 5.0 We use the reports to track what donor has made what contribution. Makes balancing our bank statement much easier, as the bank statement does not identify the donor. We are also able to send thank you cards to our donors. It is a very "user friendly" program, and I would recommend it to any organization that accepts donations. Pros I like the fact that you can customize reports to obtain information that is important to your organization. Entering information is a breeze. If you don't know how to do something, you can email your request, and someone will get right back to you with instructions. Cons not sure, there is really nothing I don't like about it. Particularly helpful is the calculated fields feature which allows for report fields to display a calculated value based on other fields. Cons There is a fairly steep learning curve before one becomes confident with the software. The UI is fairly dated and could use a shake-up. Integrated functions and apps such as Online Forms and the processing gateway do feel like a bit of an after-thought and could be more closely integrated and aligned. Review Source JP John P. While I understand the strategy that some non-profits don't want to pay for everything, it's jarring to go to a place on admin panel of the site and then get hit with what equates to a pop-up ad to upgrade the subscription. There are some decent integrations with constant contact and other vendors. Cons DonorPerfect's donation forms have terrible aesthetics. Pros Fairly easy to use, solid basics, good array of additional extended features, excellent price point. Cons Some of the integrations with other packages are fairly basic. Cons There are numerable problems with this software: 1. The pricing penalizes prospecting. Since you are paying by donor, you might as well save money and use index cards because that's what the staff will do: fear of creating a new record and incurring an expense. Why integrate an e-mail list if you have to use a completely different other system because you, as an arts organization have lots of patron records and you can't put all your touchpoints into one place. Potential donors - forget about them because it will cost much much much more to ever import any of your microdonors because of the absolutely stupid way this stuff is priced. This violates a fundamental law of fundraising: Prospects become patrons become members become donors, and if you don't get your prospects into the software, you are breaking the cycle of giving and therefore killing your future donor pool. 2. No sales engineering. They say they will, but nobody ever meets with the accounting staff. They don't do fund accounting correctly, and there is no integration module (or at least they leave you to the mercy of their infomercial webinar things that don't work while they nickel and dime you for every new feature). Credit cards, especially, are a nightmare because they don't do batching. Be in store for some angry auditors because it is simply impossible to basic things this software is supposed to do. 3. In addition, several times I needed the assistance of the 'chat' and their promptness and thoroughness is wonderful. I also like that they forward an email of the conversation for future reference. Pros While there are numerous options in the DonorPerfect software, you are able to customize the product that is needed for your organization's fundraising and report purposes. Cons At times, it's difficult to look up a donor if you are only using one name instead of both names. For example, Ann and Michael Smith. June 21, 2021 5.0 Cleaning up our donor database from the last 10 years of inconsistent use by people who lacked training has been much more manageable because of DonorPerfect's ease of use, constant improvements (many ideas generated by other users), and most of all, the patient and capable Customer Service team. I have never had a better customer service experience consistently with that of any other organization. Pros Once I learned how to use DonorPerfect, I have rarely needed to call the Customer Service team. When I do, they are truly amazing! Cons Learning quickly on the job as a new employee (who had never seen DonorPerfect before) during the fear of Covid while our building was being shut down each time someone in it had come in contact with anyone else with a positive test result. The reporting section is easy to use, once you understand the principles behind the filtering. Their customer service is one of the best I have ever worked with. It really have gotten much better over the year. Cons There are simply things you can not do in this program. It is very difficult to import data without creating duplicates and for our needs there are just some features they can't work with. Over all it's a decent program but some might find limitations. August 21, 2023 5.0 At the moment, managing donations, registrations for workshops, and most recently, events management. There have been some issues with link/form edits or changes that I was not able to track down. Overall, I've had a positive experience, especially with Tech Support and training sessions w/ our training advisor (not sure of her title or if should mention names). Pros DP was in place when I started my position a year ago. I find it to be very user friendly. The Learning Resources are amazing and readily available. Creating links/forms is super easy and allows you to manage donations with ease and accuracy. Cons I was not here when the program was integrated. I would like to see some features added, such as, having the ability to see when user updates are done. ie. edits to a link/form. We also use the pledge reminder feature, which has helped us collect those funds more easily. Pros It is very easy to enter data, and the reminders about leaving a record without saving it are very useful. We also use several of the integrations: Constant Contact, automatic address corrections, etc. These are efficient and inexpensive. We also frequently use the reporting and exporting functions, and they are invaluable to us in our fundraising efforts. Cons The only negative I've ever experienced is that there can be a long wait time when we call, especially after noon. So we usually call before noon. Review Source VG Valerie G. Pros Fairly easy to use, we have used DP for several years and there have been many good changes in the right direction. Looking forward to more updates and to see what DP has to offer. I was not happy with the Deceased record finder, that needs some improvement but over all the system works for us. Cons The Deceased Record finder report was not what we expected - There is a lot of back end work we have to do to removed deceased records. Also, the report is not accurate we found that quite a few people marked as deceased were not actually deceased. Reason for choosing DonorPerfect I was not involved in making this decision. Pros Can't give a higher score for customer service. We are a small nonprofit with a 1 person development department, and we could not manage without them. Also - they have a first rate conference, and if you have not attended, you should. It is time well spent. Cons As the executive director, I don't have the time that I would need to learn how to best use all of the reports. I can get around in it, and they have dramatically improved over the past 10 years. But - there are still a few areas where I think they could be a little bit more user friendly. I keep falling asleep watching the video tutorials and although I have started learning a little bit about how to use the software it has mostly been the result of calling customer support and asking questions. I am certain that I am missing out on 95% of what is possible. Where is the training? Pros It seems like a power house too. I can understand the purpose of what it does and my impression is that it is amazing. Cons The training could not be rated low enough. Customer service is fantastic, but the training is the equivalent of telling someone "Good luck figuring it all out!" All of my customer service questions have been answered with seed and professionalism, but I have no idea how other folks learn how to use the software. The video tutorials are not what I would expect from a product of this quality. Reason for choosing DonorPerfect Because we had federal covid bailout money that enabled us to afford something better than what we were currently using.
