Pros: One pro of FE NXT is that you are not having to use an old clunky software anymore. You can use FE NXT from any location.

Cons: On thing that I like least is that not all the features are up and running yet. But Blackbaud is always improving. I would like to get away from using Citrix.

Great for reporting, adds some nice ease-of-use and efficiency features

Pros: We upgraded from Financial Edge 7. The NXT interface is clean and very easy to learn and navigate. The reporting features are MUCH better than in the old Financial Edge, and many of the other new features they are adding (like setting up a bank feed to automatically download transactions into FE NXT for ease of transaction matching and reconciliation) are increasing our efficiency.

Cons: The roll-out of new features has been slower than I had originally anticipated when we moved to this platform over a year ago, and that's made it a little harder to get some of our staff to adopt use of the new platform over the old "classic" database view. Would be nice not to need to go back into the old view to perform some functions.

I work mostly in the AP portion of the program, some journal entries

Pros: I love how this software integrates with it's Raiser's Edge program. We are able to easily move information from there into Financial Edge, which limits the potential for errors. Plus, we are utilizing less time by not having to type the same information over.

Cons: Finding your way around in the beginning takes a little time. Especially when you are looking for something specific.

eTapestry is very robust and comparable to RaisersEdge, for a smaller scale organization.

Pros: The query, reporting and newly added wealth rating features are easy to use and has assisted in the improvement of my interaction with donors.

Cons: Updates sometime cause changes in the queries and or account that need to be updated. If I do not check the updates, my reporting could go wrong.

Overall: This is an easy to use software tool!

I really enjoy using Financial Edge. I can easily gather data on information that I need quickly.

Pros: FE NXT! I love that I can access my data using my phone or tablet. FE NXT is very easy to use. The customer support have always been very helpful and the follow-up is great.

Cons: That all the modules are not in FE NXT yet. It would be really good to have a more robust payroll/ HR system that integrated with time clocks.

Pros: Designed for nonprofit organizations

Cons: Been mostly solved by the API.

Overall: First of all, the FE previous version was quite good at first but was Windows 95 kind of good. Now, with NXT, it's a gigantic leap forward. What I like more is the API so I can download all my info into a data warehouse on the cloud (Azure) and I can connect it to Power BI.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would use it with PowerBI or Tableau to make the most of it for further analysis

Pros: Intuitive. Accounting can be fun.

Overall: Our organization have been working with Financial Edge for years. Now, we have moved to Financial Edge NXT. Years of working with a solid foundation and now we have upgraded without hesitation from our accounting team (no small feat). Loving it and the future. Yes, accounting and reporting can be fun. Really.

Pros: Ease of use in Query and Report Parameters

Cons: Some of the more intricate invoices can be cumbersome, but that is only for a few items that we have. I wish the Vendor integration with Raiser's Edge was more robust, but it works for us ok.

Overall: Financial Edge has been a great experience; we have streamlined data processes and improved our reporting cabability more than 10 fold. We love the project and grant data management pieces as well. The newest addition of Credit Card payment/processing has been a WONDERFUL thing for our office.

Our CFO and Accounts Payable Staff can easily see where we are at any given moment in regards to AP/AR balances. Paying invoices is really easy and the load from tables funcationality for GL Disbursments is helpful as well. Financial Edge also has the capabilty to create recurring invoices for those AP invoices that are the same month after month.

We are integrated with Raiser's Edge as well and that process is very easy as well.

Recommendations to other buyers: We have saved so much time since converting to Financial Edge, I just wish we had made the move sooner.

Pros: Web access

Cons: Limited day to day input functionality

Overall: We jumped on the NXT wagon when it first came out. The product was still being developed, but at the same time we were able to provide input and feedback on how we would use the product.

Pros: New functionalities being rolled out that allow us to use more systems working together instead of isolated.
Community boards to allow users to make suggestions and learn from each other.

Cons: That NXT is not complete yet (but I understand why and agree with their methodology).
Customer support can be clunky at times when the first person is not able to help you.

Overall: I have been using Financial Edge for almost four years now and the the strides they have made from my first impression to now are outstanding. When I first started my job I was thrown into the systems and provided little training and while the system (Accounts Payable, General Ledger) were easy to learn they were a little clunky looking and the features that made them powerful (attributes, global changes) were not something you would find on your own. We recently (been a little over a year) moved to the NXT version and while all the functionality is not there yet I do appreciate BlackBaud taking the time to listen to their customers while building out the functionality instead of just updating it based on the database view. While this make take more time to build out (which can be frustrating) it will hopefully allow for an even more powerful platform in the end that allows us to be a more effective and efficient team in the end.

Pros: talks well with other blackbaud products

Cons: not too customizable

Overall: Switched 2 years ago from fundware as it was no longer supported. Had Raisers edge so it was a natural transition.
