This is the best cloud-based reporting software I have seen. Pros I like Cosmos for the ease of use of creating reports for Business Central. I also like that it is cloud based. This makes it easy to work from anywhere. Cons I don't like that I can't automate running of the pipeline more than 4 times a day. We run many reports manually and sometimes we have to wait until the pipeline runs before we get current information. The training videos are well-structured and easy to follow, which has made the learning process much more manageable. Even while taking baby steps, I feel confident that I will be fully up and running in no time. Pros Cosmos offers impressive capabilities, with a strong library of prebuilt reports. Watching the Cosmos team navigate and build within the platform gives me a lot of confidence. Cons My biggest disappointment would be the learning curve. This is not just Cosmos but internally as well. We didn't just add Cosmos, we were integrating BC as well. Cosmos provided us with exceptional support, but we were not on the same level. I feel the trainer's skill and maneuverability in they system, didn't match ours so a lot of information was lost. Our trainer would have been best for Intermediate or Advanced training. It has provided me with a big boost to the amount of operational efficiency in my day-to-day operations and has allowed for deeper, more meaningful insights to be made. Pros Cosmos' ability to seamlessly pull data in from BC into standardized and customizable excel reports is a massive time saver. Additionally, its very easy to use and can improve efficiency immensely. Its ability to schedule reports and have them run on any interval basis of your choice is also very helpful too. Cons Cosmos still has some small bugs and operational issues with their software. It is nothing major but still has some hiccups at times. This is largely due to the customer support we receive from the Cosmos team. All inquires and issues are responded to quickly. We've continued to be supported and trained to use Cosmos since day one of implementation. Pros The implementation of Cosmos was very quick, requiring less than 30 minutes for set-up. The ability to use reporting features within Excel Online/Desktop makes reporting extremely efficient. Cons The inability to build Tables, Pivot Tables or use Power Query within a report. Having everything built off the Microsoft stack made it very quick to get users up and running with Cosmos and the report performance is excellent. The integrations with Business Central really put it a notch above other reporting tools. Cons Right now Cosmos can only connect to Business Central. December 21, 2022 5.0 Honestly, the support and ease of working with the Cosmos team. They are always positive and eager to help in any way. They take the time to create short training videos for specific questions and the responsiveness is amazing! Pros The ability to run reports in excel and utilize all excel functionality on top of it. The reports run VERY fast compared to other excel based reporting tools (Jet). Cons There are only a few things, but most are already in the works for updates next year. The main function to update the data source could be quicker, but at least the function to schedule multiple updates will be great and many of our clients usually want/need this option. Reason for choosing Cosmos Although it still takes some on the job training for creating reports, I know from experience the level of technical detail needed to create Jet Reports was much more extensive. Pros I appreciate the flexibility of Cosmos and that really any data in BC can get pulled into Cosmos and reported on. The scheduled reports is a great feature as well, rather than having someone have to run these reports manually. Cons The con-side of the flexibility of Cosmos and ability to report on any BC data is that it can sometimes be challenging to find the right table/field in Cosmos, even when you know what the table/field is in BC that you're looking for. That being said, the Cosmos team has always been willing to offer its assistance in finding the right table/field when building reports. He has been a fantastic resource and has provided us with many solutions over the last eight months. Pros We use Cosmos with Business Central which we implemented last Spring. One of the most impressive features is the ability to pull in so many different segments from our accounting records. This gives us the ability to stratify our results to give precise data to our stakeholders. Cons It can be a little challenging to create new reports. I consider myself experienced in the realm of reporting but setting up reports is often a little above my skill set.
