But that comes with a Cadillac Price. Pros The search functionality is unmatched. The fact that I can search for a person and it recognizes the pronouns that refer to that person as references is wonderful. It's very intuitive and visually intelligent. Cons Honestly, it is pricing. I also use blueletterbible, which is free, and get quite a bit of value. Once you try to get into the advanced features of Logos, the price skyrockets. It has amazing built-in tools, a vast free library, and a great store to add more books to your library. Pros Logos is the best bible study software available. You can upload or purchase your digital library and study everything you need from this program. Cons Logos can be a space and resource hog on your computer. Cons The only negative of the software is that some of the features are more difficult to use. There is a fairly high learning curve for some of the deeper methods of research. July 6, 2021 5.0 I guess this is combo of the pro and con - so much great content means so much storage space. Wonderful to use for sermon prep and research. Pros Logos has so much wonderful content, encyclopedic indeed! I especially love the translations features! Cons I feel this software is MASSIVE and ran quite slow on my computer, and takes of lots of space. The amount of time it takes to get the software running actually dis-incentivized me from using it. May 14, 2018 5.0 Pros Where to start? The amount of resources at the top of your finger and all in one place? The books, commentaries, and other resources that come with the base package is worth much more than what you pay. They have almost every book you would purchase on Amazon and then you can have those tools open with multiple translations of Bibles, and whatever commentaries you want to use. I write sermons using Logos and they have tools that help with that as well! Start building your digital library and using amazing sources to help you study the bible. This was a required programming for my education that have continued to use well into my ministry. Cons The upfront price can be difficult for some but its still cheaper than buying actual books. There are lots of tiers which helps as well. Instead of searching all over for resources and having multiple books open on my desk, I can have everything open in front of me and synced together. Pros The search and study tools are absolutely fantastic. The passage guide is a game changing feature- type in the verses you're studying, and it pulls the resources you have on that passage. " August 13, 2019 4.0 Pros I mean there really isn't a better software for researching for papers or preaching. IF you need to do an exhaustive hermeneutical word study on Paul's 1st letter to the church at Corinth and why he said what he said to women in that community this is your software! IT is great and works great, however, there are times like microsoft products where it feels like you need to be a programmer to find how to do something like searching for a function like scriptures that use the same phrases or words is pretty hard to find. Cons Sometimes the ease of use is tested like a lot of programmers who use microsoft language this is clunky and a little difficult to navigate when you get down to the granular level! It allows me to access my library with a few clicks and saves me hours of time in research (or to be honest, it allows me to do research that I would otherwise skip). The functionality of the Logos apps allows me to study on my mobile device even when I am on the road. Cons The vastness is also one of Logos' drawbacks. This program huge and there are literally 2 day seminars to teach you how to use it. I will never use anywhere close to its full functionality. It also requires a very fast PC/MAC to run well. Endless options when it comes to digging into passages. You can look up original languages/word studies/historical content/cross references. Factbook is like wikipedia for anything Bible. Interlinear ribbon allows you to have more information as you read through passages than most people know what to do with. The pros of this overall program are too many to list. If you are looking for the greatest tool ever for deeper understanding of scripture this is it. Cons This program is not cheap. Even the cheapest level you can come in at is pricy. It takes a ton of time to really figure out what you can do with this program. There is so many options and helps and books to access, this isn't a load up and run program. For many people the program might even be overkill. If you only preach every now and then, are not a student of the Bible and hate reading this won't be for you. If you won't use this weekly or even monthly, it may not be worth it. As one that doesn't preach on a weekly basis, I didn't fully buy in but only because I couldn't justify the cost.
