Square has been very positive for us. We appreciate the safety/security of a large name, trusted brand, without the high cost that can often come along with that name. The cost for their equipment is reasonable. They are so frequently used that finding support is very easy as everyone I know uses them.

Pros

Square has been a powerful platform for our nonprofit. We are able to process payments with a premium feel product, without the ongoing costs that many other POS systems have. The pay-as-we go type structure is flexible for our nonprofit. We do not bill frequently enough to justify a monthly fee, and so this option has been incredible. It was super easy to make our own, customizing the products, prices, receipts, and options at the click of a button. It integrates powerfully with other tools that use. This makes sales online, over the phone, through invoice, or on-site at events a breeze, and the platform is easy enough that anyone on my team can use it with their user/team options.

Cons

We have faced some challenges when out on the site with connectivity of card readers, particularly those that connect via Bluetooth to an iPad. Once connected they are quick and easy to use, however the initial connection during a period can be tough. We are an infrequent use organization, since we accept payments with this platform during events, it could be months without using and I think this contributes to the difficulty versus it connecting to the device every day. I do find the iPad layout to be a bit more clunky, feeling like an enlarged iPhone layout versus its own dedicated design.

It was great starting out, but proved that it lacked the complexity to grow as my business grew. The low cost and user-friendly nature of the site is ideal when starting out.

Pros

The website builder was easy to navigate and the analytical were also very helpful. The square online analytics were about to pin point the time, location and funnel my website traffic was coming from

Cons

The website was very limited in its build. It was difficult to embed widgets and other code that was is produced by a third party such as a booking page, google analytics code etc. Example: Square does not allow certain pages to have sub drop down pages.

What I liked most was the ease of use and the ability to charge my customers properly. This is a great product.

Cons

What I liked least was the time it took to verify my business. I submitted all the paper work and I had to resubmit multiple times.

Seamless integration to POS inventory and generally square customer list. Constant improvement in design options.

Cons

Inability to be more flexible with local delivery. Inability to set shipping/delivery at the item variation level. Clunky transactional email set up process. Stories function isn’t smooth when setting up new stories.

Easy to set up the payment system with card readers and then link it to the free website. Good support. Great payment facility - our members far prefer to pay online in advance or by card on the spot

Pros

I like the joined-up card reader and online payment facilities, especially with free website. By paying a bit more our members can login and check their past and coming orders.

Cons

Inability to accept bookings for later payment (online or via card reader) for things like club events

Very poor. Even though I'm an admin on our account, for two years Square has not been able to verify me when I contact them for support. Even our store \[sensitive content hidden\] can't get help when he calls.

Pros

The design is intriguing. The website is driven directly from the POS data so there are no separate "product records". This makes inventory sync automatic but the backbone of the site is subject to the quality of the POS data.

Cons

Too many things to list fully. There is no reporting or management capability of images except one-at-a-time. For large image repositories, this is death. There is no built in under-construction concept so you have to build a fake page and then disable navigation to work on a dev site. To preview it, you have to turn on nav and preview while editing a live site. Large data sets are hopeless with their tools. Support is terrible. You get passed from department to department and often they can't verify your profile to help you. There is no way to build a content page that isn't a product record. Overall the development tools are not ready for prime time. Square sells you on using variations... beware. They have tons of limitations.

Very good, I would highly recommend it. Some improvements required but then like most systems its a continual evolution.

Pros

Ease of setup and close integration with other Square Products

Cons

Its lost a lot of flexibility in terms of design, but this is improving. Also there is not a lot of basic marketing functionality easily available like customer acquisition tools, cross selling and upselling functionality.

Pretty easy to use. Love having my library easily integrated

Cons

Could be a little more customizable for businesses. Some features are on square online but not other parts of square - they are good features but I would like to be able to adjust them in other places too (like the order of how modifiers show up on the register). Also - this one is huge - there really needs to be a better way to make sure orders are seen/accepted by employees! We ended up adding a motion sensor to the top so that it makes a sound loud enough when an order comes in.

Overall useful, but has enough flaws to keep us from fully using it at all of the checkout places in the business.

Pros

Allows for much more flexibility for accepting payment, including Apple Pay and other cards. Not difficult to learn either.

Cons

Sometimes the sensor is not able to be handed over, if there is a window in the way then it is almost impossible to use.

Nothing but thumbs up overall. We have used several other POS programs and by far think the value of Square can't be beat.

Pros

Ease of use and an excellent support team makes Square Online a fabulous option. The templates are designed to look good on both desktops and mobile devices. Very modern and intuitive. Super easy to set up and learn. Integration with Square Retail catalog is good.

Cons

I wish I could copy design elements from one web page to another. The template layouts are also a bit restrictive. Would be nice to have CSS access to fully customize. Would also like the item description to sync with Square Retail without losing the design elements.

Great ! Experience and they are top the line merchant services that I have ever known. I look forward to more upgrades like Weebly and more of their great , convenient , easy to use, feature and services.

Pros

The merchant service fit my business industry, products and services. The upgrade of services and feature are awesome!

Cons

Need a easy shipping on the online website shipping admin with the weight, shipping prices and a easier one time payment link just for businesses without the campaign because it is political. So make a separate link that fits embed code on the features and make it easier to embed. And I can not receive what ever business sales amount of a purchase over 50,000.00 each transactions. I have to make partial payments through the website for one purchase transaction (For Example: if a sale is 115,000 and the transaction only excepts 50,000.00 per transaction; so there will have to be 3 purchase transactions. That's horrible. I need only one transaction per purchase at any price and they can still add other purchases if selected and add to total.

### "Unauthorized charges to my clients - Apparently no big deal to Square."

I have been with Square for several months now and hoped to have them handling all the payment processing for the three businesses my wife and I own. After these recent encounters with "support", however, I'm seriously wondering whether that is a good idea.

Pros

Square has an excellent user interface (Dashboard) and all the services I need ... I really like it when all is going smoothly. But I take double-charging my clients very seriously and apparently Square doesn't.

Cons

One of my websites is an information portal that is paid for by monthly subscription. I used a Wordpress plugin that was not the best solution for interacting with Square and came to the conclusion I needed to change ... so I Deactivated the software on my site and revoked the software's authorization (ability to connect) in my Square account. A month later, charges are still being processed for subscriptions made through the old software, so my clients are now being double-billed.I have now called twice about how to stop this. In both calls I was transferred multiple times (spoke to at least five people in each call). When I finally got to someone who was willing to try to address this, both individuals came to the conclusion that there was nothing they could do to stop the unauthorized charges, and both promised me that someone who doesn't take calls would get back to me.Nobody has ever followed up after either of these calls.

Overall I have enjoyed my square experience, I have learned a lot about building a site and creating the image in my head into real life. It is affordable for my needs and square as a whole has many resources outside of the online platform that I utilize so it make a great one stop shop.

Pros

I love most that it is so easy to learn on and utilize. It has been a great help in creating my online platform and landing page for clients. I have been able to create a site that matches my brand perfectly and over time has grown with me. The price points as well are great and truly adjustable to what you need in the moment. If you are just starting out and only need the domain you can do that, if you want more as you grow you can do that too. It is a great place to learn new skills and create what's in your mind, especially if this process is all new to you.

Cons

Right now I am expanding into a blog and they have a story feature that is suppose to be their version of a blog. It would say this is the thing I would like to see expand a bit, it is not as easily customizable. For example I can only put in one picture at the top and then the rest is text. I don't have the ability to add more pics. This is a new feature though so if you looking to only do a blog as you business I would look to a site that is more geared towards that. If you looking for a place to just build a site though with products or services then this is a great resource.

Yes and no… but more yes. I’d say it works well about 75% of the time. The main issue is when the app malfunctions or goes down.

Pros

It’s great that customers can make payments while we’re on the go, and the system is very easy to use.

Cons

The Square app and card reader don’t always work reliably and tend to go down quite often, which is unfortunate.

I started using this platform when they started out as Weebly (can you believe that). I loved the functionality then and definitively love where they have grown and what they offer. My experience has been amazing and I have gotten other people to create their FREE website also on this platform.

Pros

I love that I can add all my products, edit my website, connect my bank account, and do so much, and the price is wonderful.

Cons

They do not offer digital download options. Adding this would be amazing as I have to use another service to offer digital art prints to my clients.

Pros

What I like most about Square online is it is beyond user friendly for me and my customers. It is a widely accepted software and my customers were able to pay simply by clicking on a link or invoice. Square also has donation links. This came in handy when I was raising money. Once I am paid, Square offers the option to be paid instantly or later that day via their card and checking account feature.

Cons

There was a bit of delay with payments in order to verify my identity. Once I submitted all required documents, funds were released.

Square has been a game changer for me in terms of running my business. I worked with professional developers to try to come up with a website in which I could sell my artwork and it was impossible. Square has allowed me to have a great portfolio and shop that is affordable and simple to use. You're doing great, and I have been very happy with the incremental improvements over time.

Pros

Square reminds me of Google when it was an early start up - I say this because I remember how clean and polished google was compared to other search engines and tech companies at the time. Square is no different - they have things down to a science, and make it extremely easy to sell items and run a business. There is no other service like it. And I appreciate that they don't gouge the price with fees and confusing extra subscriptions like Ebay or Etsy. That would be a major turn off for me. Simply put, I love how clean Square is to use. No Drama.

Cons

I wish there were more website templates to choose from, but this is a minor complaint. It's really a good service either way. Also, it would be nice if Square could allow for purchases of direct downloads. This has been a feature in the works for literally years and I think it should be a priority. Artists like me can't sell printables or patterns until this feature is reinstated!

Square online continues to impress me. The website looks good and is easy for a customer to use. I don't have to spend a fortune on it and I don't have to be tech savvy!

Pros

I love that everything is integrated! The POS, mobile and website it is a GREAT value for the cost! I also love that the software is continually improved upon to make the systems even more seamless.

Cons

Amazingly, the con is also all of the integration. It took me several phone calls to figure out how I could allow a 3rd party to help me with the SEO aspect without giving them the keys to the ship! I did finally reach someone that helped me with that but in the end, I decided that putting so much thought into SEO is slightly overrated and I decided to just utilize the default and write great descriptions in the first place.

Square was being used at the business when I took over. I have used other platforms for my online art shop. Square has and continues to be hands down the best value for the dollar! I love it!

Overall, I am very pleased with Square Online and intend to keep using it for the foreseeable future!

Pros

There are many features which work really well when most of your business is done via your phone. The online item catalog and cash register are both easy to use and easy to change in odd circumstances.

Cons

I wish that the website manager would let you do a certain amount of editing via the phone software. Right now I can look at things and I can access and orders, but that's about the extent of it!

Pros

Ease of use and setup and cost. As a small business - this service is perfect for our needs.

Cons

No issues or problems except for the one exception - during the customer checkout process, there is an option for including a coupon at checkout - this is by default - there is no way for the seller to opt out of this option - it should be an option for the seller to enable this if they plan to offer a coupon or special code.
