Pros Square Online allows a Square user to create a website that directly integrates with the Square app. This means you get real time inventory adjustments and changes as well as being able to update your website right from the dashboard. The first time we used it, it went seamlessly. Have to say it continues to be seamless still. Pros As selling on-line was new to us, the ease of set-up was very welcome. Information on the website was extremely helpful in assisting to make an informed decision to use this service. Cons Nothing comes to mind currently as we have only used it for a very short time. (couple months). Since we are new to this e-commerce process, I am thinking there may come a time when it will get tedious or frustrating. They provide many tools and services that serve a variety of needs for different businesses. Pros Square Online has a set of comprehensive features and point of sales systems that make starting a business easy without needing to build an entire website to sell products from scratch. The products they offer allow for both ecommerce and brick and mortar stores. Additionally, when tendering transactions, the sales tax is automatically calculated for you as the business. Cons The service fees in place for credit card and online transactions is kind of high. Square Online could do a better job of balancing the need to make money while allowing businesses to keep more of their hard earned money. When I wanted some support, it was hopeless. The representative put up a barrier by requiring a separate set up before doing anything. The steps needed are listed, but one step is not on their website, meaning you are blocked from getting any support. When I pointed out their error, I was ignored. They describe their representative as "customer success". What they mean is "customer successfuly fobbed off". I managed to sort out my very simple query by going elsewhere. Pros Transactions work fairly well when set up properly. Cons Reports are poor quality - seemed to be designed by IT rather than accountants or book keepers. Customer support when needed very poor. Pros Lots of ability to add and customize products. It has been very successful for our lunch and bakery business. Cons There are some certain customizable pieces that just aren't there. The square online site can't be customized with pictures and images. It's very difficult to have different fulfillment times for different products. I loved the functionality then and definitively love where they have grown and what they offer. My experience has been amazing and I have gotten other people to create their FREE website also on this platform. Pros I love that I can add all my products, edit my website, connect my bank account, and do so much, and the price is wonderful. Cons They do not offer digital download options. " October 20, 2024 5.0 Pros What I like most about Square online is it is beyond user friendly for me and my customers. It is a widely accepted software and my customers were able to pay simply by clicking on a link or invoice. Square also has donation links. This came in handy when I was raising money. Once I am paid, Square offers the option to be paid instantly or later that day via their card and checking account feature. My group converted their data to POS, then asked me to fit that into Square Online. Its nearly impossible to take a complex ecommerce structure and shove it into this simple, not ready for primetime, web tool. Square bought Weebly, as far as I know, but they did not deploy all the Weebly web dev. tools to Square Online. Online help is virtually useless for anything more complex than how to link a single image or create a simple product record. And when you do find a hit in online help, its in the Weebly community and doesn't apply to Square Online. Pros 1\. Integrates with POS. 2. Category creation is easy. Cons Terrible set of features for a business with > 100 products 1. If you set products up with Variations (think Red/Blue/Green shirts) you cannot archive a variation if its no longer available. 2. There is no import/export of images. All images must be manually uploaded and their meta data entered manually. 3. You cannot split an item (product) that has variations, into two products via import/export should the need arise. Get it right the first time or you are sunk. The only way is to duplicate a record and manually delete the variations from the two records manually. 4. Tech support is terrible. First they will get into the retail vs Web side of the house discussion, then once you get the right person, they never seem to know what features are or how to solve problems. 5. All variations must share the same description. Poor design. 6. You cannot launch a Coming Soon page without publishing the site first. This means you create a coming soon page as your home page, then you have to deactivate the nav, create other pages and sections, publish them and then turn the nav. on to test, then turn it off again. 7. You cannot create links to simple attached documents like PDF's (catalogs, help documents for your products etc.) 8. You cannot build an HTML block on a page to craft specific messages. 9. You cannot change your theme once the site is created. To do so, you have to reset the site and loose all your work. 10. The product design is to have a Shop ALL product page as the default. Totally impractical for large inventory retailers that would have traditional category trees. Switched from [OpenCart](https://www.capterra.com/p/143516/OpenCart/)[WordPress & WooCommerce Affiliate Program](https://www.capterra.com/p/234543/WordPress--WooCommerce-Affiliate-Program/) Retail store wanted a simpier POS. They pushed the move based on POS and are trying to get the ecommerce to work. Poor business decision.
