### "Square Point Of Sale for my small business"

Overall, I would recommend Square for any business. Its ease of use is next level, and my customers love it!

Pros

I run a remodeling business and have used Square for all my payment processing. It is a very usefull tool! The payments process instantly 90% of the time. Even when it's a $5,000-$10,000 payment! The processing fees are a little higher than others, but me nor my customers mind at all. Its also encrypted and 100% safe for both parties.

Cons

The only issue that I have is the delivery option is unremovable. When you accept a payment, you have to go into the system and select delivered.

### "A “Resolved” Issue That Ended Up Causing Serious Financial Damage"

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: This situation caused real damage to my life. That $1,447 was reserved for something extremely important with a strict deadline attached to it. Because I did not receive the money in time, I am now facing serious financial consequences and problems with institutions that were expecting that payment. What hurts the most is that I acted immediately and trusted the reassurance given by Square support, only to later discover the issue had never actually been fixed. A mistake like this is not “just a delay.” When people depend on these funds for urgent responsibilities, errors like this can create devastating consequences. I honestly feel abandoned by a platform I trusted with my business and my money.

Pros

PROS: The platform itself is easy to use and initially gave me confidence to manage my business payments and transfers quickly.

Cons

CONS: Customer support completely failed me during a serious financial issue. I made a $1,447 transfer after updating my payout account from Chase to Wells Fargo. The moment I noticed the transfer still appeared connected to my old bank account, I contacted support immediately, within about 10 minutes. The representative assured me everything had already been fixed, that the old bank account had been removed, and that my new Wells Fargo account was correctly updated. Days later, I discovered the money had still been sent to the old account anyway. What shocked me even more was that when I contacted support again later, I was told there was no record of the previous conversation where I had supposedly been helped. That is extremely disturbing for a financial platform handling people’s money.

Overall I'm very pleased and it's exactly what my small business needs to be successful! I can use it to check people out, keep people engaged and communicating, process payments professionally and easily and the website was a big bonus! I was using a different booking and checkout system before this and this one is much less complicated without all of the unnecessary bells and whistles that I was paying for and didn't even use

Pros

I work in an office where they use PayPal POS and was running Vagaro for a booking system but the Square POS does just about everything I needed to do and for FREE! The website (free) builder was seamless and results look professional and fluid

Cons

I had a bit of a learning curve with the onboarding but it all worked out fine and was actually easier to setup than other booking systems I've used

Overall Square is on the best device system I have ever worked with. I never had any issues with the device connection, customer support.

Pros

Payment Processing, ease to use, invoicing are the main things I loved about Square. How I was able to send a patient and invoice. When a patient asked to email a receipt.

Cons

If Square processing fee would have not gotten so expensive we would have stayed with them. but 3% for each transaction was a little much.

I would defenitely recommend it if you see a lot of clients per day or need to make many transations as it gives your clients more payment options. Very quick to use.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use. Its compatible with my iphone and makes transactions a brease. Very user friendly interface and simple to navigate.

Cons

They take a big cut from the sales which is an inconvinence and the additional costs of buying the square for physical tap also adds cost.

Point of sale easy to use, but square closes your account down for no reason and do not give you the opportunity to appeal their decision.

Pros

Its pos is convenient to use on the go and set up to a smartphone. Its easy to transfer funds to account.

Cons

Customer service is terrible, its almost impossible to get someone on the phone and they shut your account down with no warning or the abilty to appeal the decision.

Square is my hub for just about everything. Over the last 5 years I've been using them, they've improved features and added on everything from marketing features to reports and and easier to use interface.

Pros

Square is simple to use for invoicing and payment processing. They've vastly improved their support community so answers are found quickly.

Cons

Fees have gone up over the years and it's frustrating that even loading gift cards has a processing fee now.

### "Confusing Setup but Worth it in the Long Run"

I have used the Square Lightning Reader for Magstripe and the Square 2nd Generation Bluetooth LE Mobile Card Reader, this was for a bake sale I hosted. The Square overall, is a reliable and easy-to-use payment system that works well for small events and mobile sales. It offers flexibility with different card readers, however it can be a learning curve for first-time users.

Pros

It was affordable, about 10$ for the basic option and you upgraded based on what's necessary for your business. Furthermore, you can link straight to a bank account to receive deposit, and fees were minimal per transaction. Also you had a lot of customization options for item lists, prices and taxes. You could also enable tipping and discounts which was useful for bundle deals!

Cons

The setup process was confusing as it required an another app epically if you were using the lighting reader and a verification process, as well as linking your bank accounts and test transactions. Furthermore the lighting reader did not have a chip reader which required us to upgrade. The Bluetooth reader was hard to pair at first as well.

processing payments was easy to learn and use. However, I didn't keep it llong because I went to their sister firm, Stripe

nothing about it at all other than the fact it took some time to reach my home and put it into use. That's all.

Overall, our start up beginning experience was not great but I believe that was more of an us issue because it wasn't as user friendly to us as we hoped BUT it did not discourage us and once we found someone, we knew also using square point, it truly helped us and have nothing but great experiences now

Pros

I enjoy the convenience of square point of sales when it comes to self-employed with my husbands business. Not everyone knows how to use apple pay, venmo or any of the other apps but do have cards and want to pay that way which can be possible with square point

Cons

It was a little difficult to get setup for us in the beginning so that discouraged us for a little while. However, we found someone we knew also using square point and they were able to help us, which in turn made our experience much better and now we really enjoy having it as an option

I liked that it’s portable and available to use anywhere: at the gym, different pilates studios, at a pop up workshop.

Pros

So easy to use: plug it into your phone or iPad, swipe the card like customers already expect, follow the screen prompts and DONE.

Cons

I disliked the merchant processing fees. They were a necessary evil when the system first came out, but at this point, in 2026 there are other options available that do not require the processing fees.

I like working with Square, but do think it could do better with taking tab-like payments - we have lost revenue from it not closing out tabs.

Pros

The categories and the compatibility with multiple inventory/ merchandising applications (shopventory for example)

Cons

Consistent issues with QR code ordering / receiving payment, consistent issues with adding things to online website. Also, categories can’t have photos added but items can- makes POS screen look a little scattered.

Pros

They offer a free version of product to use from my phone. I have a mobile ice cream truck so to use this at any location is ideal for my business. customer support has been great when needed. this also allows emails to be sent for billing and invoices to help with the payment process

Cons

Have not found anything at this time to dislike about the product. Having the option to use the attachment to my phone or to have a customer tap my phone has worked out well. Learning how to use it to weed out the bugs and issues has not been difficult to navigate through

Pros

I like that I can customize my items and organize them by category on the main screen. I also like that it shows my inventory amounts and alerts me when we are low. I can do EVERYTHING on the home screen!

Cons

I was not happy with the process of adding inventory. I found it a little complicated. However, the how to instructions are super helpful!
