Pros The easiness of connecting to an iPad and using the tap to pay, or even sliding your card through the phone attachment. You can receive payment for your items anywhere. Cons Nothing at all. We have found the interface easy to use and customer service easy to interact with during the implementation phase. I will continue to use this product and hope for continued feature improvement. I would recommend over several competitors. Pros Square is super easy to use and works great at markets when you just want to have a card reader and your phone. I haven't had issues with the reader and the ability to take fast and easy payments has been a game-changer. Cons I think the Take a Payment feature on desktop is not really user-friendly. As someone who wholesales product, I find the inability to save transactions or add shipping costs (not as a line item) really frustrating. Super happy with all of the functions from taking payments, to website design, invoicing and so much more that I won’t even use! Pros Square is super simple to set up and use. You can learn on the fly, and the software is intuitive to the user. It took very little extra time to integrate into my business and get it up and running! Cons I obviously dislike the processing fees and the fact you have to pay for a premium version. If I’m paying all of these fees to square I’m not going to give them more money monthly for the premium features that are only really needed for a larger scale business. They get enough of my hard earned money via the processing fees. " December 31, 2021 5.0 I'm able to use this in multiple ways, by having subscription customers who get a few loaves of bread every week or a dessert tray every month, without having to invoice separately. It's all just handled with the subscription feature. It's another stream of income that is really handy. I love everything about Square. Pros It's inexpensive and easy to use. I can train someone on it in moments or not have to train them at all because it is just that easy to use. Cons I think it's overall the best in the business, hard to find anything "wrong" with it. I have no problem setting it up and start taking payments and sending invoice but there were a few features that were missing and I wish I new about it before I implemented the system. Pros The software is extremely simple to use and setup. I have problem setting it up and get it ready to take payments. Cons While Square has its strength, it also has several weaknesses like some feature are missing such as being able to enter the item quantity without having to keep adding the item. Many receipt printer also do not work with Square. Its given me the security I need when dealing with online and in person transactions. Signing up took a bit longer than expected as I didn't have a business tax ID at the time, but they had an option for me which was life saving as I was getting a lot of requests for my product, so keep that in mind if you're in a rush to get started. Overall my experience with Square has been great and I definitely recommend! Pros Pros are definitely the ease you have with your online Transactions. They Mail you the Square reader for your ipad or mobile device and the installation is pretty easy, or if you're not lucky enough to have a tech person for a friend then you can easily contact Square to have them walk you thru set up. I have to say, having and feeling the security that you have with square regarding your online transactions is one of the most important Pros for sure. The ease of organizing your inventory is a huge Pro, as well as having your inventory being updated automatically. You get notifications via the app as well as thru your email regarding every transaction, with the total amount of sale after their fee. You get a monthly update of sales. Along with stats of average sales per hour, per day, and more, which is super helpful and helps you with forecasting best sellers and busiest times of the year. Operations Assistant Financial Services Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Simple and intuitive POS system" June 30, 2023 5.0 Pros The grid view is simple and easy to understand for new hires, particularly the fact that you can add images and order the grid however you like (easy to organize products in a way that makes sense for the business) as well as "folder" items that aren't too complicated but allow you to have more items accessible on the screen. The open tab feature is helpful as we have situations where companies want to leave a ticket open for employees to order at their leisure, and that feature is helpful and easy to use once you understand it. Also nice that the screen for the user and the screen for the customer are separate so none of the annoying "turning the screen" stuff. Overall just a very intuitive and simplified system for POS, I've seen some that are a visual mess and Square makes it simple to work fast and efficiently. Cons The tab feature is great once you learn it, but I had trouble at first "saving" the ticket because the system doesn't make it obvious how to set the order as an open tab after you start entering it. There were times I thought I had the tab saved but realized I had closed out of it instead and didn't have the order or card info saved which was a pain. There were also a decent amount of crashes and outages. Cards from certain banks seemed to cause the system to crash, and eventually it would freeze up randomly mid-order and you'd have to unplug. March 18, 2019 5.0 We take all of our credit/debit card payments through Square, as well as Apple Pay, Android Pay & Samsung Pay. The ability for a customer to pay, sign, and get a receipt e-mailed to their phone while they are still standing in front of me brings a nice sense of trust and completion to each sale. Pros It is free to set up and implement initially. Square will even send free card processors (they're the cheap ones that let you take a card payment from your phone/tablet, but it will let you start swiping cards immediately). They help keep track of your sales/accounting for non-card payments, too, as long as you enter in the sales data for them. Additionally, the ability to edit & customize withdrawal options is very helpful. I can get funds deposited on a schedule or whenever I choose to (even instantly, although this incurs an additional 1% fee). It is much cheaper and more convenient than a standard CC payment processor, so anyone with a small or mobile business would be wise to check this out. Cons The customer service is a bit lacking. I've never had a real issue with them that didn't resolve itself pretty quickly, but there's been one or two times where I have an issue and get what appears to be an automated response about it. Not a big deal, but when you Google it, on the Square help forums, this kind of response seems to be the norm for most questions/concerns. Fortunately, their system is pretty self-explanatory, that additional personalized help isn't usually needed. At our most recent event - we had the goal of raising $25,000, and thanks to the ease of access that the Square Point of Sale provided, we almost doubled our fundraising goal. Pros We primarily use the Square Point of Sale for our fundraisers. This product allows:i. Increased accessibility for participates to donate (credit or debit) ii. Allows our administration to be able to track key data such as money coming in and donor information to support with our accounting, bookkeeping, and tac receipt administrationiii. Ease of access - as a non-profit who is primarily volunteer base, we have ever changing support staff, with the comprehensive app, on-boarding to usage is smooth and easy! Cons As a non-profit, we take an extra step to ask our donors if they would like to cover the service fee, and often times donors do. However, the minor complexities here is there are service fee differences whether someone pays through credit or debit - just something to be mindful of, especially when manually inputting the amount. Reason for choosing Square Point of Sale This product had been recommended by many others in our circle, as well, it was a familiar product as many of the businesses within our network use this as well. Property Manager - Athens Highlands Apts Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Square Point of Sale" November 7, 2018 3.0 Overall I had been having a decent experience with Square but having to spend so much time looking for a phone number and then waiting so long for a person to tell me my customers had to wait 7 to 10 business days for a refund that was caught 15 hours or less from the original transaction was ridiculous. I had to go and get a money order to give one customer for the refund and NOW have to drive across town to now pick up a money order from her once the refund was posted to her account so I can deposit the additional money I gave her Saturday so she had funds through today when the refund posted. A lot of unnecessary running around when it could have been corrected within a day or two not 10 days! It was enough aggravation that I'm looking for another money transfer app for our events. Pros I liked that it was a convenient way to accept payments anywhere via my mobile cell phone through the Square App. Cons I didn't like that customers couldn't make a payment directly from their phone & that Square charges a higher fee to manually enter a credit card. There was a glitch with square that kept showing a different totals than what was entered $82.00 it showed $82.03. The customer said run it with the .03. Then the next day LESS THAN 24 hours later I saw the deposit total from Square to our bank account and it was a lot more than it should have been. I looked up transactions and saw where 2 customers were highly over charged. (1) I entered $52.00 but Square deducted $520.09 from the customers card, (2nd) I entered $53.00 but Square deducted $530.06. I immediately looked through their website to see if I could refund the difference but had no way of doing so through the website. I was able to refund the difference through their Square App. That was done maybe 15 hours later I refunded the difference and sent screen shots of the refunds to the 2 customers. Two days later one of the girls said the refund hadn't processed. What seemed like 30 minutes or longer looking through their website for a phone number - called to speak to someone and was on hold for 30 min. or longer to get someone. This person didn't seem to care that I refunded these customer's accts. 15 hours or less from the transactions took place. He said it would take 7 to 10 business days to refund their accts.
