I love square nad don't know what I would do without it Pros Square makes it easy for me to keep all my sales in one place, as well as making it to where I can process any kind of payment from literally almost anywhere. Our clients love the iPad set up the most as it allows for collecting tips and giving the option of e-receipt or print to their clients. We've used it for years and will continue to use it at our events. Pros Square is easy to use and very reliable. I love that I can send out user codes to volunteers at our fundraising events and not worry about sharing a main login in order to have multiple people collecting money for our organization. We use Square at all of our fundraising events and it is very reliable. It is also very easy to train a new person on how to use the Square app and reader, which is very important at events when I have volunteers who've never used Square before. The dashboard is easy to navigate and the reports are easy to read. Square's fees are very reasonable and they are very good about providing Square reader devices for point of sale transaction. Cons The standard Square readers don't work with the latest Apple iPhones that lack the phone jack. This can be challenging so it's good to check with volunteers before an event to get an idea of what type of phone they have. For large events or occasions when lots of transactions happen in a short time frame it can get hard to see who paid for an item or to match up transactions to items sold. If you do need to track who bought an item or if a transaction was for multiple items (like a person who won several items in a silent auction) then make sure to add notes and have documentation for your staff volunteers on how to add notes while running transaction, otherwise this because hard to sort out afterwards. Cons I dont like that you cant go back and look at a last name from the card used in processing of a payment u would have to go on line and do 4 different steps if you needed to clarify an error . Owner Automotive Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Unreliable - Cannot be trusted" October 19, 2021 1.0 Customer support is terrible. They claim everything is automated and cannot help you. I was told I needed a Subpoena to access information about my account and payments that were on hold on my account. No one at square has a higher up that you can talk to, they are all their own bosses I guess. Terrible company. Pros I guess its able to swipe a credit card, thats about it. Cons System flags supposedly fraud credit card payment so save us from getting a charge back from the credit card company. Not only does it flag it, SQUARE ONLY allow you to refund the customer. Very big error on Square this is not a fraud card as your system has flagged. No one at square has the authority to change this or over right this. We have lost money because of SQUARE. Square has the slowest inventory search system. Searching with for sku with a hyphen does not work and pulls in most everything. Not smart at all. Review Source Shannon H. It is easy to track who has paid and offer the ability to receive tips Cons Integration with quickbooks would be helpful. Pros For the most part Square is "idiot proof". That is not to say that we were not idiots a few times. However, we did try another service for a short period of time to compare. Square clearly spells out what they charge. There are no hidden things that surprise the customer later on. A company that " does what it says". Simple. Pros What we like the most about using Square POS is that we can easily take payments on the phone and in person, and our whole (remote) team is on the same page about items being sold. We really love the notes feature, so that we can keep detailed track of any extra points that need to be added to payments and so that we can also search for particular payments easily in the transactions later on. Cons What we like least about Square POS is the mobile app, which does not allow as much flexibility and user-friendliness as the desktop version. It is difficult to add new customers on the mobile app and to add new items, etc from the app. We much prefer the desktop experience. Review Source SA Sabrina A. Pros My favorite thing about Square is the mobility it provides any small business. Nothing could be more convenient than being able to accept a credit or debit card payment instantly on your phone or tablet. The payment is processed immediately in most cases, and there's no heavy or expensive hardware required. Another plus to this system is that the tiny piece of hardware you do use is provided free of charge. Cons Sometimes the people at Square can scrutinize transactions a little bit too closely, causing a delay or interruption in service for periods of time. I understand the need for this though, as the system could be used by less than honest individuals to do things like launder money. Also, it helps with the user's own security. It is discreet, convenient and reliable for taking payments from my patients!! Cons The only issue I ever have with Square is Bluetooth connection, but that mostly comes down to my lack of tech savviness Reason for choosing Square Point of Sale I used to run a business that used each of these at different times. Pros Square is easy to use and very customer friendly. The integrated loyalty and gift cards are great and it is fairly easy to use. Cons The hardware breaks ALL THE TIME and customer service is not great unless you demand your own account rep. Pros it was easy to use and integrated with our software. Also, in my business I have mobile services so it was easy to use with the cell phone attachment. Cons The fees increased quite a bit using the mobile swipe system and has caused us to not use it as much because of those fees.
