The dongle for paying is so small and efficient that you barely notice it. We moved into quickbooks with invoices to help with tax season but I did love the ease and use of this product. Being able to take cards on the spot and track invoices was a huge help. I used it for four years and it did get better every year. Worth the money. Cons It would have been great if it let you link it to quickbooks to help with the tax season. Pros I love how Square POS anticipates the likely needs of its users and provides simple, efficient solutions. For example, the rewards program that we have used in our business (10 stars = 1 free) is so freaking easy to set up on Square. Because it's so easy for our customers to set up, more and more of them are using it. Another thing I love about Square's POS is all of the different reports you're able to generate. As a numbers-nerd, I love being able to track our progress and look at trends over time. This software has been invaluable to us in doing so. Cons So far, there really isn't anything that I've had trouble with. I have no complaints or suggestions for improvements. I just manually enter her card, transfer to my account and go get their sports stuff but it really helps the business alot. I think the actual cash register conputers are nice as well as the headphone jack swipe style. Uniquely created for all. The business is growing with all the offered payment options Pros I love how easy it is to use. Very easy to put products into the pos. And I love being able to get the square reader when opening an account. Being able to enter cards manually is great too! Invoicing is easy for others to able to pay online. Its a very well rounded system. Cons Even though I like the security features square uses, they are also the downfall. Sometimes they put holds on your account when there isnt any suspicious activity and then you have to call and verify and make a big run around mess to finally get your money. It's a pain with customer service but the security is nice so I don't mind too much. Could make that a little easier to deal with though Alternatives considered [Shopify POS](https://www.capterra.com/p/205337/Shopify-POS/) Reason for choosing Square Point of Sale I think it was more recognized by others and the ease of use and style was better. Square brings the technology of accepting card payments efficiently to average people. Pros As a new business owner, I have to minimize my costs. When I began vending, I noticed that I was losing out on sales because I had no way to accept card-based payment methods. I began to research and realized that this option was within reach, despite being a small business with no experience in accepting card payments. The process of setting up my account, ordering my Square reader, accepting digital payments, and transferring my money couldn't be easier. This software makes accepting card payments accessable to EVERYONE - even if you have no experience with the process. I do not consider myself especially tech-savvy, but I found the process to be a breeze! The fees are very low per transaction, and instant access to your money is extremely convenient. Cons Occasionally, I had to re-swipe cards due to a reading error. This could have been human error, however, it does make customers nervous to see their card swiped twice. Review Source LS Leslie S. It has been my payment processor from the beginning when I was a sole proprietor and I still use it as a small business owner with employees. Pros Square Point of Sale makes taking my business on the go super easy. I use it when I go to events as well as in the office. The best part is when I am at events that do not have WiFi I don't need to stress because Square offers an offline mode which allows me to take payment without internet access. The payments simply get processed as soon as I hook up to the internet. Cons If I could change anything about Square it would be to integrate several of their services for one price. Currently there is a cost for employee tracking as we as for scheduling and other services. As a business owner I like to keep things as simple as possible so it would be nice to have a package deal where I could choose all the services I want to use and have it available for one low cost. April 21, 2020 5.0 It was overall positive and was very versatile, allowing us to quickly add different POS across the board. Pros It's ease of use as POS software made it a great addition so we could use tablets and small devices to take orders and were able to increase our delivery revenue. Cons Cresting invoices and remotely charging repeat customers from the online invoicing feature was a bit cumbersome of the customer wanted to use the saved card on file, so we had to re-write our regulars card info rather than quickly using the saved ones on file for online orders. Pros I love the ease of use. I do very little to process payments, Square takes care of it. Very simple and fast set up. Been using Square for years after trying a few others and getting frustrated. Love how quickly the payments land in my bank account! Awesome product!! Cons The hardest thing I deal with is remembering where I put the little device that connects to my phone for processing payments in the field. I rarely use it, but it's really simple when I do. I love the UI design and that it's fast to learn right from the beginning. It didn't require any downtime to get to know it better. Additionally, my customers love how fast and easy it is to use and I feel it has been a big help for my company in the long run. Pros I am very happy with the easy to use app and features. The software really provides plenty of functions to keep tabs on those who shopped with me before and even allow me to keep an eye on what is running low in my inventory. There is a good spreadsheet created and I feel that it's reduced the time to keep things organized and faster to search for a specific item or customer when needed. I also really like that I don't need to train anyone to use this program or even myself. It's very simple to learn and makes my business run so much easier. Cons Sometimes the connection can be lost, making it a bit slower to get things done fast, but this is normal with most programs I've used. However, when this connection lost happens, it can cause a line to build up while waiting for everything to process. Some of our locations are completely offline with no cell or internet service. Square has an offline mode that allows us to accept credit cards offline and charges once the device has service again. Obviously, you have to take a few precautions accepting cards offline but this feature is a must for us. Square has a fairly high card fee but the software is free and the readers are inexpensive. The system and reports makes it easy fro us to add customer profiles and get the info we need. The best part is you can simply switch from one device to the other and have multiple locations no problem and for no additional cost. Pros Easy to set up, it has basically every feature a POS software needs but makes it a little more simple. It's really easy go mobile and great as a back up for larger retail POS software in case a system is down. The Square POS is free to download. The card readers are inexpensive and look nice and again are easily transported and can switch from different devices. Inventory tracking and simple shortcut displays for quick check outs. Offline mode is a great feature. Cons The credit card fees are not the cheapest out there. Some of the UI could be better organized like adding a new customer. I think being able to connect card readers to a laptop would be convent as well as an app for laptops. They have a very user friendly back end and I can quickly manage money and invoices. They have a a lot of great features that I love within the invoicing system. They keep making it better, Any issues I have had their customer support was great in amending quickly Cons It is way too easy to accidentally signup for their add on features. I wish they would have a confirm button before they automatically enroll you into one of their add on they you accidentally click on.
